It's cool, you know... but I'm not going to tell you that, I'm not going to share anything about my superhero activities or being Unveiled. I thought to myself.
"It's probably pretty awesome," I replied vaguely, trying to keep my secrets safe.
Kringg! The bell rang, signaling the end of the period.
"Ah, time to go to the computer lab! Come on, Xian!" Marcel exclaimed, leaving the classroom immediately.
Computer class... I'm just going to play games since I already know a lot about it from Gilg himself. He taught me how to hack and everything... I thought, getting up from my seat.
"IM, let's go..." I said, turning to my friend.
"Huh? Oh, right, let's go..." IM got up and walked beside me.
Together, we followed the rest of the class to the computer lab.
The lesson started. What were we learning today?
"Okay, everyone, we're going to learn how to create a logo," the teacher announced.
Boring, I'm just going to browse social media... I thought.
I opened the browser and logged into my account.
As I scrolled through my feed, I couldn't help but notice the numerous posts and articles about the "Shadow Guardian" and the "Midnight Phantom." People were sharing videos and photos from the incident, speculating about their identities and abilities. Some even created fan pages and artwork dedicated to the mysterious heroes.
We really are famous now, I thought, a mix of amusement and apprehension swirling within me.
IM leaned over, peering at my screen. "Looks like we're the talk of the town," he said, a smirk playing on his lips.
"Yeah," I replied, trying to keep my voice neutral. "It's a bit overwhelming, to be honest."
"Don't worry," IM reassured me. "We'll handle it. Just remember, we're in this together."
I nodded, grateful for his support. Despite the sudden fame and attention, I knew I could count on IM to have my back. We were a team, after all, bound by a shared destiny and a thirst for adventure.
As the class continued, I half-heartedly attempted to follow the teacher's instructions on logo design. But my mind kept wandering back to the events of the night before, and the unknown challenges that lay ahead. The world was changing, and I was changing with it. The question was, were we ready for what was to come?
I shook my head and decided to browse the comment sections of the news articles instead.
[Anon: Wow, are they even real? Lol?]
[Anon: Looks staged.]
[Anon: So we don't need to pay for firefighters anymore, right? Lol?]
People are so skeptical, I thought with a sigh. It was hard to believe in something extraordinary when you've lived your whole life in a world that seemed so ordinary. But IM and I knew the truth. We had seen the darkness lurking beneath the surface, the unseen forces that threatened to disrupt the fragile balance of the world. And we were determined to protect it, even if it meant facing danger and ridicule.
I continued scrolling through my social media feed. Just then, at the perfect moment, our family company, WRA, released the video we had made the night before – the one showcasing our hero personas.
The video featured our three folded suits, and it immediately blew up online.
[Anon: Woah, so the superheroes are from WRA Company!? No way!]
[Anon: What are you going to call it? Marvel or DC? Lol]
I couldn't help but chuckle at the comments. It seemed like our plan was working. We were generating buzz and capturing the public's imagination.
IM leaned over, his eyes wide with excitement. "Check this out, Xian," he whispered, pointing to his phone screen.
I glanced over and saw the WRA Company video playing. The sleek editing, the dramatic music, and the close-ups of our suits created an aura of mystery and intrigue. The comments section was exploding with reactions.
"This is awesome!" IM exclaimed. "We're officially internet sensations."
I couldn't help but grin. "Yeah, I guess we are."
Just then, the teacher's voice boomed through the speakers, startling us. "Alright, class, eyes back on your screens. It's time to start working on your logo designs."
IM and I quickly minimized the video and pretended to focus on the task at hand. But our minds were still buzzing with the excitement of our newfound fame. We had taken the first step towards becoming the heroes we were meant to be, and the world was starting to take notice.
The rest of the class passed in a blur as we eagerly awaited the end of the school day. We couldn't wait to get back to WRA Company and see what Dove had planned next. Our adventure was just beginning, and the possibilities seemed endless.
Zzztt! A loud electrical sound emanated from the computer cable.
Marcel, who was sitting in front of me, got down and tried to fix something by touching the cable. Just then...
Stump! The lights went out.
"What happened?"
"Nooo! I'm still watching football!"
IM and I just looked at each other, a mix of amusement and annoyance on our faces.
The teacher looked up at the ceiling, then left the room. "Wait here," she instructed.
Marcel stood up, looking pale. "Oh no, did I just make a mistake?" he asked nervously.
"Probably," I replied with a shrug.
"What did you do?" Rayhan, sitting beside Marcel, inquired.
"You're gonna pay the bill," IM added, a hint of amusement in his voice.
Marcel gulped, his face turning even paler. "I... I don't know. I was just trying to fix the cable, and then everything went dark."
Rayhan sighed, shaking his head. "Great, just great. Now we're all stuck in the dark."
