Chapter Sixty

It hadn't taken long for Jeremiah respond and schedule a place to meet up. Not wanting to be seen by any of her classmates, or worst of all, Dawn, she had convinced him to come to the old overgrown park she liked to run to. 

  When she arrived it was clear that the city had once again forgotten to cut the grass, each blade tickling her ankle as she strode to the gazebo. Not many people came here anymore except the elderly, and today, maybe not even them. 

  Cierra's typical spot was the bridge by the pond. She tried to avoid the gazebo hiding near the tree line, behind what might have been a path but was now overgrown by bushes.

  Peeking her head in, Cierra saw she was the first to arrive. The wood holding the structure together dusty, and it was clear that birds used the gazebo more than any person had in years. Bird poop dotted the benches and beams; she decided to stand.
