Chapter 2

I woke up to Mother yelling at me to get out of bed.

"GET YOUR LAZY ASS OUT OF BED. BEFORE I BEAT IT UNTIL IT'S BLACK YOU FILTHY SON OF A BITCH!!!"

Before she left, she back-handed the side of my head. Hard.

That last part was right. Bitch. That describes Mother just perfectly.

I dragged myself to the bathroom. I stripped myself from my clothes and headed into the shower. I rinsed my body along with my head, making sure there isn't any blood and dressed for school. I looked at my reflection. I had black sneakers, blue jeans, and a hoodie on. My eyes traveled to my face. You could see my cheekbones. My long black bangs didn't help my pale complexion at all. I sighed. That girl from last night was right. Speaking of her, my thoughts went back to the conversation from last night.

I sighed. I can't think of that right now.

I ran out of the room and grabbed my backpack. I tiptoed through the kitchen trying to avoid Mother, but more from Father. The front door is in sight. I glanced around and made a quick dash through it. Trying to avoid all the beer bottles around the place. I closed the door quietly and leaned against it. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.

I started my way down to Rotterdam High. I pulled my hoodie up and kept my head low. Avoiding as much eye contact as possible. I was about to sigh in the victory of avoiding my bullies before -you guessed it right- knocked down to the floor.

I looked up to see Smith and his goons. So cliche. Like seriously?!

"Hey Diller, been awhile. Didn't see you last night."

"I wasn't there"

"Liar. Jack here says he saw you on the hill with the little red-haired bitch."

I said nothing and looked down. So they must have been those three chasing her.

"Do you know what we do with people who lie to us?"

I said nothing, preparing my mental state for what is about to come.

"We teach them a lesson. Boys."

His goons surrounded me. I knew what was about to come. I curled into a ball and tried to cover my head. The kicks started raining. Not a second after they start, I hear...

"STOP!!!"

The kicks stopped and I cracked an eye open to see none other than the girl from last night. Her hair was still a crow's nest and instead of that ratchet dress from last night, she wore a purple shirt and jeans with patches and stitches everywhere. She didn't have any shoes, but her face seemed washed at least.

She had her hands on her hips and had a scowl on her face. Her dark emerald eyes had a fire burning in them. Something is about to happen. I gulped.

"Oh. If it isn't the little red-haired bitch."

"Stuff it Smith. Do you kiss yer mam with that mouth of yers?"

"Shut up slut!"

He looked angry. He looked as if he really wanted to kill her.

He lunged at her suddenly.

She didn't move until the last second.

He stopped and turned abruptly. I'd be surprised if he didn't get whip-lashed.

"I'LL KILL YOU SLUT!!!"

She yawned. She. Freaking. Yawned.

"Yeah, yeah. That's what ya said last time befer I kicked yer ass."

He moved to punch her face.

She dodged and started punching rapidly in his stomach.

He fell back and hit the floor. He clutched his stomach.

She went up to him and punched him right on the jaw. I heard a sicking crack.

She has a good right hook. Reminder to self: never get on her bad side.

He fell backward unconscious. Blood on his shirt and on her fists.

She turned around on her heels and death-glared at his goons.

"So, who's next?" She was smiling at this point. As if she didn't just beat someone unconscious. Bipolar much. They all fled.

She walked towards me and extended her hand out.

"Hey, Mister. How's it been?"

I put my hand out she just lifted me up. She is strong. Or maybe I am just underweight. Probably the latter. I looked at Smith. Nah, maybe both.

"It's Dillian. It's going fine."

"Fine Dilliy. Liar."

"You are really not going to let that up, are you? And it's Dillian!"

"Nope and Imma call ya Dilliy"

"Why?" I whined.

"I'll tell ya later why I'm callin' ya Dilliy. Ferever!"

"No!! Come on."

"That's tough."

"..."

"Come on. We're late already."

"What about Smith?"

"What 'bout him?"

"Are we really going to leave him like that?!"

"Uh...Duh. Come on Sherlock. I thought ya were smart."

She ran to the school building.

"Hey!!"

I ran after her.

And that is when our friendship started.
