When the Reader Descends Into the Novel With a System

Darkness and light. Two extremes coexisting. A law of equivalent exchange, balancing the world. Where there is light, there must be darkness. And as such, where there is darkness, there must be light. That is the rule of the world my child, and you are the one balancing on the fine line, stuck in between. An anomaly. An abomination. Where you go, death and destruction follow. That will be your fate. You are the one and only son of the darkness, mothered by the daughter of the light. What path will you walk my child? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the story of Kurayami Akimitsu, a contradiction of light and darkness, and I, who reincarnated into his body. In this world based off a novel I had read, what will happen with the addition of me, an unknown entity? Who knows everything about the future of this world. Will I survive with this identity? Only time will tell. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Currently on HIATUS. This is my WSA 2022 submission. A/N: So this is going to be the second novel that I will seriously write, with an upload rate of 7 chapters a week. My inspirations for this novel were TAPOV (The Author's POV) and DWTN (Dance With the Nightingale) but the world building will be extremely different and the backstory of the MC will be unique also. The ranking system will be the same, but it's the same ranking system across a lot of novels, so I think it's okay for me to use? There also might be cliches like an academy and an auction, but again, I'll make it as different from the norm as possible. I hope that this will be a refreshing take on the "mob character becoming overpowered genre" for you guys. Release Rate: Check the schedule Chapter Length: 1000-1500 words per chapter My chapters are edited by myself, so forgive me if I make any mistakes. Just comment if there is a mistake anywhere. The first 10 or so chapters are filled with world building stuff, so I hope you'll stick with it and read it as I tried to make it all original. After the first 10, the story should pick up and the action will start, so please don't drop it after only reading a few chapters. Discord Link: https://discord.gg/8ePQESSSHT Finally, as always, thanks for reading! All names, characters, and incidents portrayed in this story are purely fictitious. No identification with actual persons (living or deceased), places, or products are intended. Note: The cover doesn't belong to me. If you are the original owner and want me to take it down, please leave a comment on my latest chapter.

Spiritual Beasts (5) - 33

I took a closer look at the raven.

Again, nothing looked special, but the spiritual power that the raven was emitting was slightly above the average, and because I had used an incantation that had a high chance of summoning a mythical beast, this led me to the conclusion that there was more to the beast than meets the eye.

//Papa!

'What the fuck?!!!!'

'I'm I hallucinating, or... fuck no.' I groaned.

//Are you the raven?

//Yes... papa!

'So, on top of it being super fucking weak, it's also a baby, that's just great!'

'But how is it talking to me telepathically?'

...

//So raven, what's your name?

//Pease name me papa!

//So, are you a boy or a girl?

//A girl.

//Then, your name will be Esper.

//Thank you for the name, papa!

The crow hopped around excitedly on my table, but then, I realized something.

I couldn't sense the little fucker at all.

I mean, I could see her, but all my other senses were telling me that nothing was there.

'Could it be, could that be the special thing.'

"Pfft." (A/N: It's a fart.)

'Nope, it's definitely not a power at all.'

Waving a hand, I unsummoned the crow.

//Papa!

'What the fuck!'

'Is it just me, or was that deja vu?'

//Wait, how are you still talking to me Esper?

//I don't know papa, I just can?

"Sigh."

//Well, do you know if you have any powers or anything?

//Well, I don't know... I was only born 2 days ago. The only thing that I've noticed is that none of the other spirits can notice me, even when I fly right in front of them.

'Well, if that's true, then I'll just use her as a surveillance bird.'

With that, I concluded my first, and last spiritual beast summoning.

...

I went up to the library the usual way again.

Entering, I found out that Annalise didn't have the evening shift today, so I just sat at the reception desk by myself, reading a random book that I had grabbed on the way there.

After about an hour or so, I heard the circle opening.

Looking up, I saw a familiar figure.

'So she's here for the talk, but how did she know exactly where I was?'

As if reading my thoughts, she replied, "I just put a tracking spell on you."

'How did she know?'

"It's written all over your body."

"I have an observational skill." She said immediately after, answering my next question before I thought of it.

"And yes, I have the space stigma, if that was your follow up, I mean, it is pretty obvious after I said I put a tracking spell on you."

Seeing that I didn't have any more questions, she started walking up to the desk.

"So, are we having the talk?" <Akimitsu>

"Yeah, can you do anything to make it more private?"

"Can you?"

'I mean, I wasn't gonna reveal any information about myself that easily.'

"Oh, so you're at least smarter than most other people."

"As if anyone would fall into a trap that obvious."

"Ok, now that we've both established that we're smarter than the average population, how 'bout we get to it."

This time, I deliberately created a private space around us with my sound stigma, blocking any eavesdropping that could happen.

If you were wondering why I decided to show that I had the sound stigma, it was simply to establish a rapport, so that she would feel more comfortable, knowing one of my trump cards.

"So you went after that." <Girl>

"You want to show one of your trump cards too?"

She thought for a second, weighing the options.

"Fine."

Putting her palms up, she conjured a flame in one hand whilst conjuring water in the other.

'So, from the information I had before, she definitely knows a lot about the novel somehow, is almost certainly going after the magic swordsman path, because she went after that sword manual and she got silent casting art. Now, with the double casting art, she's basically the strongest magic swordsman in Esgardia right now.'

Dispelling the magic, she asked, "So what do you want the terms to be?"

We obviously weren't stupid judging from the previous conversation, so we both knew that the only reason that we were meeting each other was to list out terms to not interfere with each other and such.

"These were the three terms I came up with:

1. We don't needlessly interfere with each other's operations at all.

2. If we happen to cross paths, we'll do our own thing, whatever happens to the other is their own fault.

3. If we cross paths but know conflict is inevitable, or we're both aiming for the same thing, we'll play a game of rock paper scissors to see who gets to go on." <Akimitsu>

"Well, they were the same exact terms that I came with, so I accept."

"No need for a spiritual contract right, I mean, we both know that there are many ways to void one."

"Yeah, let's just swear it on our honor as transmigrators."

Putting my fist on my heart, I said, "I swear on my honor as a transmigrator."

Smiling wildly whilst copying me, she did the exact same thing.

"Now that that's over, do you want to talk about anything else?"

"Yeah, I just wanted to ask why you made yourself stand out so much. I mean, it is in a different appearance, but isn't it still detrimental?"

"No, it's just something necessary for my plans."

She went into her thoughts for a minute or so, before nodding and coming back.

"Alright, well, that was my only question. Do you have any?"

"No, but I do have some advice for you... wait, I also have a question, but after."

"My advice: if you still are, stop looking at things in this world as parts of a novel, I mean, I've probably already changed a lot of the future with what my actions, but just remember, if you die here, you die, there are no second chances, so act wisely."

"Noted, now what's your question?"

"Yeah, well it's a little awkward that I'm only asking this now, but, what's your name?"

"You can call me Marabelle. What's your name, and I'm not talking about that weird alias that you came up with."

"I thought it was a good name." I muttered under my breath.

"What was that?"

"Nothing, nothing. And yeah, my real name in this world is Akimitsu, well that's my last name, but you can just call me that."

"Well, it was nice to meet you Akimitsu, I hope I never have to cross paths with you again."

"I feel the same, well, see you." I said to her back, as she walked to the portal and recited the exit incantation.

'Well, that was a dumb thing to say, I mean, knowing my luck, I'll probably meet her tomorrow.'

I did the rest of my shift before heading home, taking a shower, and then getting into bed, quickly falling asleep.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, I'm meeting with my whole extended family right now, and one of my cousins offered to draw up concept sketches for one of my characters.

So, here are some concept sketches of Primrose, one with her full upper body and torso, wearing her witch's clothes over her school uniform, and a sketch of just her face itself.

Sorry about the late upload.

Thanks for reading.
