When the Reader Descends Into the Novel With a System

Darkness and light. Two extremes coexisting. A law of equivalent exchange, balancing the world. Where there is light, there must be darkness. And as such, where there is darkness, there must be light. That is the rule of the world my child, and you are the one balancing on the fine line, stuck in between. An anomaly. An abomination. Where you go, death and destruction follow. That will be your fate. You are the one and only son of the darkness, mothered by the daughter of the light. What path will you walk my child? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the story of Kurayami Akimitsu, a contradiction of light and darkness, and I, who reincarnated into his body. In this world based off a novel I had read, what will happen with the addition of me, an unknown entity? Who knows everything about the future of this world. Will I survive with this identity? Only time will tell. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Currently on HIATUS. This is my WSA 2022 submission. A/N: So this is going to be the second novel that I will seriously write, with an upload rate of 7 chapters a week. My inspirations for this novel were TAPOV (The Author's POV) and DWTN (Dance With the Nightingale) but the world building will be extremely different and the backstory of the MC will be unique also. The ranking system will be the same, but it's the same ranking system across a lot of novels, so I think it's okay for me to use? There also might be cliches like an academy and an auction, but again, I'll make it as different from the norm as possible. I hope that this will be a refreshing take on the "mob character becoming overpowered genre" for you guys. Release Rate: Check the schedule Chapter Length: 1000-1500 words per chapter My chapters are edited by myself, so forgive me if I make any mistakes. Just comment if there is a mistake anywhere. The first 10 or so chapters are filled with world building stuff, so I hope you'll stick with it and read it as I tried to make it all original. After the first 10, the story should pick up and the action will start, so please don't drop it after only reading a few chapters. Discord Link: https://discord.gg/8ePQESSSHT Finally, as always, thanks for reading! All names, characters, and incidents portrayed in this story are purely fictitious. No identification with actual persons (living or deceased), places, or products are intended. Note: The cover doesn't belong to me. If you are the original owner and want me to take it down, please leave a comment on my latest chapter.

Love Scenario (5) - 53

A/N: Alright, for all of y'all that are wondering whether Primrose will be his LI or not, well ___________________________. Haha! You thought! Why the hell would I reveal that, this early on? Gotta keep all y'all in suspense or you ain't gonna come back.

<Elvira's POV>

'Sigh, I guess I'll have to buy that item.'

Over the past day, I had spent all my time mindlessly searching around the island, just betting that my luck would enable me to find Arvil, but, it didn't seem like the lady was on my side today.

Looking at my watch, I swiped to the screen that displayed my task.

I then scrolled down and looked at what was at the bottom.

[Compass - 100 Rank Points

Description: A compass that points to "Arvil".]

'I have 9 more days on this island. If I buy the compass, and then I'm able to find Arvil in those 9 days, I'll still be able to gain a lot more Rank Points and a little change. And on the off chance that I can't... well, let's just not think about it.'

Cementing my decision, I pressed the "Buy" button and immediately, an old fashioned compass appeared in my hand.

'I wish my heart was as steady as this compass...'

With thoughts about how unlike a noble I was being right now, chasing after a boy like a yandere, I put my head down and just started walking in the direction that the compass was pointing.

...

I looked at the swirling blue portal in front of me.

'So he's already going after a boss, that's so much like him.'

In the past few hours, I had killed countless monsters, most of them (F) rank, already making up all the Rank Points that I had spent on the compass.

I had also come across a few "Societies", some which were peaceful, and just let me pass through their territory, and some that were, for lack of a better word, "evil" who attacked me on sight due to their lust or the need to rob me.

'If only Arvil was not such a tsundere...'

Putting my scythe back into my soul gem, I stepped into the portal.

Feeling the distortion in space, I tried my hardest to keep myself awake, but in the end, I still lost consciousness.

...

Opening my eyes, I found myself in a red world, before quickly closing them again due to the infernal amount of dust that had just gotten into my orifices.

Coughing, blowing, and hacking it all out, I quickly covered my face with a few spare shirts that I tied together.

Quickly looking through the stuff in my soul gem, I found a random astronaut helmet that I had bought.

Taking my makeshift solution off, I put on the astronaut helmet.

Reaching under the astronaut helmet, I lightly lifted the metal mask covering my face and touched my pale, sensitive, scarred skin underneath.

The burn scar that covered half of my face was inflamed and itchy due to the agitation of the dust that had been able to sneak under the mask.

Using just pure spiritual energy, I quickly cleaned all the dust off before taking a special balm out of my soul gem and quickly rubbing the white paste on the inflamed areas.

Feeling the soothing coolness, I readjusted the mask on my face before looking down at the compass again.

Seeing that it was pointed at a series of twisted shadows in the distance, I couldn't help but sigh.

'You had to immediately go to what looks like the most dangerous place in the area. I have no words Arvil, no fucking words.'

Trying to imagine a conversation between us in my mind, I quickly warmed my heart with thoughts of him before starting to move.

<Akina's POV>

I woke up to the familiar red, dusty landscape.

Feeling the reassuring weight of Primrose's head on my shoulder, I quickly lifted my own head off of hers.

Leaning it to the other side, I stretched my neck, as it was a little stiff after being bended to one side for such a long time.

Deciding that we had wasted enough time and that it was time to start our raid on the boss monster, I started nudging Primrose's arm.

"Yaaaaaaaawwwwwwnnnnnn."

Yawning loudly, Primrose, quickly remembering that I was also here, quickly covered her mouth with her hand.

"You don't have to be that formal around me."

"What do you mean? You're my teacher."

"Come on! You're older than me, and we just spent like 4 hours in each other's arms. Also, your head's still on my shoulder, and you're saying that we should keep being formal with each other?"

"..."

"A-alright... I guess I can call you Ashen."

"Well, don't call me that now. I'm a girl right now, can't you see?"

"O-oh, okay then, so Akina?"

"That's more like it. It's good to finally become your friend Prim."

"Yes, it's good to become your friend, Akina."

'Wow, that was awkward.'

"..."

"Do you think Marabelle is okay?"

"Yeah, knowing her, she's probably healing in some cave right now. I mean, she's a tough nut to crack. I don't think she would break even if a demon descended on her."

"Yeah, she's fine, she's fine..." I could tell that the last part was more of a way to convince herself than anything, but I let it be, as she needed this worry-type energy to be able to fight the boss with clarity.

We tried talking about a few more things, but eventually drifted to silence.

With our friendship affirmed, I rested my head back on Prim's head which hadn't moved from my shoulder this whole time, and we just stayed like that for a few more minutes, enjoying each other's presence.

...

We started preparations for the boss fight as soon as we felt like moving again.

After finishing the preparations, we walked to the back side of the granite formation, which actually had a steep drop compared to the front.

Looking down, we could both see a giant nest filled with two eggs that actually made the already humongous nest look tiny.

The nest was situated atop a tall, withered tree that was about half the height of the granite formation.

As we stood there watching, we saw a yellow bird that was even bigger than an apartment building descend on the nest, covering the eggs with its plump underside.

And, if one was looking at it closely, they could see sparks passing between each feather as they rubbed against each other.

You see, in front of the two students was the (D+) ranked boss of the first test, and the hardest obstacle that they would face, well, probably.

It was, the Thunderbird.
