Saving the blonde beauty

"Oompf!" Nick was just walking towards the break room, he wanted to drink the coffee that he brought during lunch when someone came from behind and wrapped his arm around his shoulder. He barely managed to stop the coffee from slushing out of the cup, if the coffee dirtied his suit then he would have to spend the rest of his day soaked in the scent of coffee and wet clothes, Nick being the clean freak he was —— wouldn't have been happy with that outcome. He turned his head around and looked at Marcus who was grinning at him, seeing his beaming face, Nick wasn't even surprised. He simply sighed. " Senior, this is why the colleagues complain about you, you shouldn't do this, what if I dropped the hot coffee on myself?"

Marcus Hardy was Nick's senior and he was so smart and experienced that he could have been the manager but he let the opportunity slip out of his hands and let someone else become the manager in his place. In his defence being a manager was a job of great responsibility and he was afraid that it didn't suit his friendly persona. Though, Nick was doubtful that the reason Marcus refused to become the manager was more to do with letting go of all the free time that he had in his hands at the moment while he was just a senior executive in the finance department. But then again Marcus was indeed friendly, he was so friendly that one could say that he had no idea about the concept of personal space.

Nick still remembered the time when Marcus used to overstep his boundaries and step into his personal space while teaching him during his internship period, this senior of his was so overzealous in teaching him that Nick sometimes wondered whether or not his senior was interested in men. There were two reasons he considered this —— firstly, Marcus was really attentive to all the men who were under him and secondly he was really strict towards his female colleagues, it could be said that he was rumoured as the Devil by the female colleagues of the department.

If not for walking on Marcus and the female executive of the public relations department making out, Nick would have declared that he was off-limits to Marcus, which was a good thing or else he would have been greatly embarrassed.

" Nicky, why are you so stiff always?" said Marcus in that silky smooth voice of his that made many females swoon. " I knew the force of impact that I used, I wouldn't have let the coffee slush out of the cup. I assure you that,"

Nick rolled his eyes, yeah sure. If not for his timely reaction, the coffee would have totally slid out of the cup and fallen on his clean suit, staining it. Then he would have to fork out another expense to have this suit dry cleaned and honestly it was the end of the month! His wallet was empty!

Marcus noticed his small movement and chuckled before slapping Nick on the back. " Jeez, live a little will you —— this is why despite your good looks no woman in the department is willing to date you. You always wear that stern, old grandpa scowl that scares the ladies away…be with times a bit, Nicky."

Nick stiffened as the memory from this morning surfaced in his mind, now that he remembered—— Romi said the same thing, didn't she? She called him judgemental and even narrow-minded. Maybe he should take another person's opinion and see for himself, whether or not was he narrow-minded.

He took a sip of his coffee and then turned to Marcus who looked at him innocently. " Senior would you—— I mean if by any chance the devil is favouring you and you get a chance to date the notorious Vanessa Blake would you date her?"

Marcus blinked twice and turned silent, seeing that he has gone speechless, Nick started to feel smug. See, he wasn't the one who was being narrow minded, it was Romi that stupid girl who was being his idiotic self, pleased with himself, he took another sip just as Marcus opened his mouth and answered, " Sure why not?"

Nick choked as he started coughing making Marcus pat his back with a wicked smile. " Jesus, will you look at that? Why are you so flustered? It's not like I said yes to your proposal?"

" This was worse, you actually agreed to date a Mafia girl," said Nick as he wiped the corner of his lips then his eyes narrowed ever so slightly as he asked, " you did know that the girl is a mafia princess right?"

Marcus shrugged. " I do, and what's wrong with it? I heard a rumour that Vanessa Blake is like the incarnation of a fairy, and with that tough tomboyish edge, she is currently the hot mama that everyone wants," he poked his tongue out in a cheeky grin and gave him a thumbs up. " I don't know about you my boy, but instead of grinding my ass every day in this cooperate world, I will like to become a Sugar baby of a rich sugar mommy, you know."

Nick stared at his senior who was still yammering on and on with a goofy expression and finally came to a conclusion——The world has gone mad, he will chant sutras for its healthy recovery.

——

" Sugar Mommy?" snapped Nick as he slammed the door of his car, and pulled it out of the garage of the company, he was pretty much sure that, no matter how beautiful Vanessa Blake was there was no way she was a fairy incarnate. And so what if she was a fairy incarnate? She was still a mass murderer, wasn't she? Does her pretty face forgive her for all the sins that she has committed? No, right. However, the more Nick thought about her, the more curious he became, just how beautiful she was to make everyone go crazy for her like this?

Half an hour later——

" Gahh!! Did I waste an hour thinking about Vanessa Blake's beauty?" Nick was speechless, he felt like he was affected by a virus. Maybe he should get a shot or something, "Now that I think about it, no matter how beautiful she was—— there is no way she has an ethereal touch about herself and even if she did, there is no way she would be so beautiful as the blonde girl lying in the pool of blood in front of my car."

No, wait —— a girl with blood pooling around her?

As soon as this thunderbolt stuck to Nick, the radio of his car finally caught the signal and the daily news segment started to play. ' Netizens are warned that any streets near the cul de sac on the Yameha street is as of closed now because of the abrupt gang war that took place this evening, we request the Netizens to stay inside their houses and do not in any circumstances drive by the cul de sac."

Nick: "…" huh ?? Huh?? Huh?????

He was shocked, he didn't know what he should do—— should he drive away or should he help the blonde that was on the street bleeding so profusely?

In the end, he still decided to step out of the car and help the blonde girl who was lying in the middle of the street but just as he crouched down, he felt a cold metal being pressed on the back of his head as a husky voice chortled. " You were right, he really did come, Boss!"
