Strange Thoughts

Nife's POV

I threw my purse on the mattress and dashed into the restroom immediately as I entered my hotel room. I turn on the shower head and dump my body into the bathtub, allowing my body to get soaked which made my dress stick to my body. 

To be honest, l can't explain how l managed to get away from there. My legs grew heavy at that moment. Toyosi sure knows about my son.

How much does she know? 

So many thoughts rushed through my mind. I let out a silent cry. She deliberately pickles on the wound that I have overtaken. By bringing up my past and mentioning my son in the presence of everyone.

I believe strange thoughts are already building inside the minds of everyone. I slowly slid my whole body inside the bathtub and allowed the water to go above my head.

I shut my eyes tightly and decided to let nature take its course.

After Nife left the others and walked away. The atmosphere became more awkward and tense. The Guys exchange glances at each other with their mouths open but no words are coming out.

Ada steps out of her chair with a furious expression. She stops and glances at Toyosi for the last time.

"You are true evidence of a present-day bitch!" Toyosi gasped at her curseful words.

Ada grabs her purse and chases after Nife in her high heels, increasing her pace. Her boobs bounced up at her speed.

Her once cheering pretty face was now replaced with different expressions.

She brought out her phone from her purse and started calling her friend's number, but it wasn't connecting.

"Nife, please pick up,"

She pleaded with no one in particular, hoping that the call would connect. Instead, it only ends with the mechanic's voicemail from the phone.

"Damn!"

She yells and rushes to their hotel room. On getting to their hotel room, she let out a sigh of relief as she realized that the door wasn't locked when she pushed it.

Not wasting much time, she pushes the door open and walks into the room. Her eyes darted around the room yet no single sign of Nife.

Fear started creeping into her heart as she swallowed her saliva. 

She looks at her phone, which still has Nife's number dialing but no one is picking up. 

"Where are you?..."

She slowly whispers, in a sad tone. Her eyes suddenly fall on the phone on top of the bed flashing with her name on the screen.

"Chim ooh!"

She exclaimed and grabbed the phone and paid serious attention to the surroundings.

That was when she noticed the dropping sound of water coming from the restroom.

She furrows her eyes, wide open as something hits her hard in her mind.

She rushed to the restroom door without thinking.

"Oh, My God, Nifechukwu!!!"

She screamed in fear at the sight before her.

 She screamed for help, her voice ragged and hoarse. She watched in horror as her friend, Nife thrashed and struggled in the water.

She ran to the shower and turned it off, then rushed over and pulled her friend out of the tub.

 Ada held her friend close, feeling her body tremble with fear and exhaustion. 

"Nife, what the hell do you think you are doing?"

"Have you gone mad??"

"You didn't think of your son and mother???"

Ada thundered her with many questions at a time her voice laced in anger. Nife didn't say a word as she coughed out water. Her face was already pale of exhaustion with tears streaming down her eyes.

Ada pulls off her heels and throws at a corner to steady her balance. She helps Nife up, drags her out of the restroom, and helps her to change into a new set of clothes.

Once she's done, she assists her to lay on the bed and covers her with the duvet.

"Give me a second, I will be back." She told Nife.

Nife slowly nods her head gently at her words.

 At the restaurant, after Nife and Ada left the way they did.

The atmosphere became so steamy.

"What was the meaning of that?" Donald asks in an annoyed tone, directing his words to Toyosi.

Toyosi rolls her eyes at him, feeling wronged.

"What is the meaning of what??" She questioned back.

Donald's eyes narrowed, his lips pressed into a thin line. 

"You've got quite a knack for making an impression, don't you?" he said.

"Guys,"

"Guys, l will suggest we all calm down," Jide cuts in before things get sore.

"I mean, This Is Not What We Bargain For?" He continues to reason with them.

"And, that's not why we are here!" He added. 

"Damn!" Deji curses, cutting in.

"Jide is right, Toyosi you will have to apologize to Nife," 

He asserted as she stared directly into her eyes.

"What?" 

"Why should l?"

Toyosi flares up before Deji can complete his statement.

"It doesn't matter, we are friends and it's right to end this charade! Before things get bitter." Donald interjects.

The expression on Toyosi's face turns to soar as she angrily steps out of her sitting position and wipes the wine on her body furiously including her face.

"Toyosi, l trust you can do more than that!" Jide tries to reason with her.

Toyosi flings the dirty wipes on the table and shoots all of them a glare.

"Apologize for what exactly?"

"For what she knows so well as the truth…" Toyosi countered, refusing to apologize.

"If it will please you guys to know, it's already passed the time for my beauty sleep." 

She taunted and started walking away from there.

Deji sighs and shakes his head.

"It's not surprising to any of us, Toyosi has always been that way," Deji said to the others and glanced at Donald.

"Dd you know her better than any of us." Deji reminded Donald.

Donald just hissed and started leaving the restaurant. Jide exchanges glances with Deji and the both of them start walking out of the restaurant together.

"What a night,"

Jide laments as he sighs. 

Deji slaps his shoulder and chuckles. "We are adults. I believe we will fix everything by tomorrow morning." 

He assures.

"I pray so,"

Jide mumbled as they stepped out of the VIP lounge, shoulder to shoulder.
