THE WHITE FILES

Suddenly as Leon was wiping his shelf as quickly as he could, he came across white files. One dropped, and the papers scattered. He had never seen them before. His eyes bulged. His heart throbbed. He was dumbfounded.

He suddenly stashed them in the dustbin when the office bell rang. Sarah walked besides his dad.

Leon tried as much as he could to fake a smile. "Hey dad!"

"Good afternoon son, how is work"

His dad asked while pulling out a cigar. He slumped on the armchair and Sarah took out the dustbin. Leon tried to stop her with his eyes but that was next to impossible. He just swallowed hard.

As he talked with his dad, he felt uneasy, insecure. random thoughts ran up his mind.

"And to think you look so noble! "He thought.

Just then Sarah came in and signaled to Leon to see her aside

Leon stood up immediately as if he knew what the agenda was

His dad laughed, "let me not know you two are keeping secrets!! "

When Leon stepped out of the office Sarah handed him the files.

Leon was wide-eyed. "You did a good thing, i mean"

Sarah just smiled and leaned forward wafting to kiss him

Leon pushed her away just in time. "Hey, its dad inside there!"

Sarah squirmed. "Maybe he would have kissed me have it not been for his dad! " She thought.

Leon tugged at Sarah; can i trust you. "Take these files, don't look inside and stash them away safely, no one to see them, i will get back to you later! "

Sarah just looked at his lips imploringly until Leon gave her a gentle push "Yoh listening! "

"Oh yeah, I will er. You want me to go through them"

Leon slapped his forehead "whatever!"

"Oh, I didn't mean that. Don't read that, don't you ever understand anything! Keep them I will come for them "he opened his eyes as wide as he could, and Sarah shivered.

Leon stepped inside the office and noticed his dad was looking at a painting on the wall. "You love art don't you! "Leon didn't answer.

His dad sat down slowly and peered at him.

Leon pretended to wipe his desk as he sat down.

"Anything wrong! " You never hide anything from me! "

Leon didn't answer. "Alright! " Now you wanna play the truant cowardly schoolboy who never talks unless he sees a whip! "

"Leon had never gotten used to threats from his dad but he shivered. He looked up and saw a side of his dad he had never seen. A cold weathered out face and he shuddered. He wondered where that ever-joyful warm face had gone.

"What did that secretary tell you! " His dad inquired

Leon felt he had to save the situation "nothing just that she was updating me on some investments gone wrong! "

His dad laughed and Leon thought "he knows i have cheated him" but he did not look away, so he gave the impression he was speaking for himself.

"Ok, anyway remember to invest wisely son, so where are the financial records of last year" his dad asked.

Leon pulled his laptop from aside and they set to work.

Madam prime was watching news in her house. Then someone knocked at the door. She called on the maid to go see who was at the door, but no one answered.

"These servants, always busy idling! "She clicked and stood up

At the door was an officer. She was alarmed but tried to hide it. "Yes? "

"Good afternoon, madam, this is the CIA, federal investigation officer, your husband in? "

"Anything wrong? "She scanned the man's face for answers.

"Something confidential you will come with me to the station to clarify and straighten out issues"

She shuddered but said "let me get my keys! "
