Chapter 3 The New Maid.

Rose stared at the uniform on her bed and shook her head in tears.

Nothing has worked out in her favor.

Her wedding was a disaster.

Her ritual ceremony was a disaster.

Her signing ceremony was canceled two hours prior as Francis the Inspector called to say that they identified someone who looked exactly like Angela in Paris. So, the whole family had to cancel the last bridal ceremony so Daniel Agreste could go to Paris in search of his missing ribs.

From the last ceremony to the present day, it has been five days since Daniel left the country. Rose couldn't help but feel helpless when Norah told her the lady in the picture was Angela. _her elder sister _.

She was happy that he have found clues of her whereabouts but unhappy because she's missing her life. Her family and grandfather.

They're people out there that depends on her for survival. She can't help them if she is stuck her with nothing to do.

She did try to get a job but was attacked by the paparazzi and ragging fans of Angela.

She is a super model and an actress, her fans were as crazy as her.

When news reached Daniel Agreste about the attack on his new bride, he waved it off with  "leave them alone,  i can't ask them to forget about Angela because i can't ". Every morning rose would watch the news about Angela which always ends with Daniel Agreste's video. _how terrible _.

She have been banned from entering the kitchen since the ritual ceremony.

The only place she has access to is her room situated away from the main building. It was formally used as storage space but abandoned because it was considered too small to it's purpose. No one has been in there until her mother-in-law decided to let Rose inhabit the area. Rejection is not an option.

She didn't only get the room but a unique turquoise maid uniform sent by her mother-in-law.

For reasons known only to her, she deployed all her workers except Norah and now Rose will be taking over.

Rose was still contemplating on wearing the uniform when the intercom rang. It was her mother-in-law. She hastily dressed in her uniform and dashed out to the direction given.

Her mother-in-law was sitting with friends in the gazebo sipping wine and chatting away.

"Greetings ma" Rose bows as she greets the elderly ladies.

"My friends said the garden needs a little cleaning. The flowers are overgrown and withering and i told them you can take care of it" her mother-in-law said.

"the flowers truly are overgrown ma, should i ask for a gardener?" Rose asked somewhat disappointed in them.

"trim them Roseline, i want you to trim them. Now get to work "she dismissed her with a wave.

Rose had no idea how to trim the flowers or take care of a garden. She knows housework but not gardening.

She couldn't contact Norah as there's no way would sneak into the main building without being caught. She has no cellphone to call her on. _she needs to be civilised_.

Poor Rose spent the hot day in the garden. It was a difficult task but she can't ever say no to money. Her mother-in-law had promised her a thirty dollars weekly salary. That is something she had to work months for.

She might have come from a rich family and married into a wealthy family but she's just a poor little girl seeking for means of survival.

By dusk she gathered her gardening equipments and hurried back in.

She had blisters and scrapped nails from gardening.

She took her bathe and waited for the intercom to ring for dinner but the call didn't come in.

She have been banned from stepping foot into the building or anywhere close to the environment without being asked else she will be labeled as thief.

That is how hard the Agreste's are treating her. They're toying with her emotion and mental health.

Hunger they say is not man's best friend and definitely not Rose's.

Rose swallowed her fears when she decided to ask for food.

The lights from the dining room were on, she could see everyone from the window.

How could they eat without her, they're not inviting her to the table but she needs her own plate.

She ranged the doorbell continously until her mother-in-law answered the door.

"what do you want? " She asked the poor figure standing before her.

"I'm hungry mother" Rose replied with a rumbling stomach.

"do not disturb our quite moments. I'll get back to you soon" with that her closed the door and went back to the dining.

Rose decided to wait. she couldn't risk leaving and missing her chances of having a nice meal. _never_

She stood for minutes maybe hours then pressed the bell again. When no one answered she rushed over to the window but there was no one there.

The whole family have settled for the night.

Did they forget about her?

Did they forget she was waiting for them?

How did they forget that a human being was waiting for them right outside the door?

Rose stood knocking and shouting hoping that someone would hear her voice.

When no one came to her rescue, she left the building.

"It's not fair. it's not fair" Rose cried.

What has crying ever solved?

Nothing, rather it reminds you of your predicament.

Crying makes you weak and vulnerable.

She thought about her old life. When everything was easy, when she had little to zero worries.

When works left for her are things people her age do, not like gardening or fishing or cleaning the pool, or fumigation.

Anyways, this is her life now, a new maid placed on a weekly earnings.

Missing dinners is not the end of her problems, it could be worse.

Rose hadn't slept for long when she heard tapping at the front door. At first she thought it was the wind, it was Norah.

She'd snuck out to bring her food. _a blessing in disguise _

"Norah " Rose cried as she hugged the woman. If Norah hadn't come to feed her, she would probably be dead the next day.

She will live to remember this day.
