When It Comes to Love

Liana Harrington knew that the big, broody and never- smiling Helios Eaton was trouble, but she couldn't shake her fascination. Like moth to a flame. It was supposed to "look but don't touch". She'd see him during business meetings, look her fill and then move on. She didn't have time for troubles, especially considering her past. But what happens when that same big, broody and never-smiling man asks you out? What happens when the past she's running from finally catches up to her? Will she get burned? Or will he be her salvation?

Enigmatic Man

The boardroom was a well furnished room with three beige walls and one glass wall on the west side. The glass wall shows the beautiful skyline of NewYork city. A big mahogany round table was situated in the center of the room with chairs all around it. A projector screen was setted on the wall opposite to the glass one. All the men were situated around the table. I was also sitting on one of the chairs closest to the projector. I was efficiently taking notes while a man was giving a presentation. It was the same man who was running late, that's why I didn't catch his name.

The meeting rolled out smoothly and their propositions sat well with us. Our company was a big pharmaceutical company and the EATONS did import/export business. Deciding on a date for further negotiations ,the other party left our building.

It was now lunch time and like every other time I was starving. Just know this about me that I AM A BIG FOODIE. Food is like heaven on earth for me. I quickly ran out to the deli just opposite my office building and ordered my food. This was my routine. Reaching here before other my colleagues and placing my order first. And I won. Everytime.

When I looked for an empty chair to wait for my food, my gaze snagged on a table surrounded by suited men. It was the Eatons group that had just left our office. They probably decided to have lunch here. Mr. Eaton was sitting in my line of sight and I observed him. For you know, professional reasons.

He was as stoic as ever. Even though his other colleagues were laughing and joking around, he didn't even crack a single smile. He wasn't much of a talker, that I had figured out during our meeting when he barely said a thing during the entire presentation.

He was an enigma. That was for sure.

When my name was called, I went to get my food and ran back to my office to eat in solitude.

I returned to my small office and sat on the recliner on the right corner of the small room. I am not the socializing type. I prefer to be alone , though I am a well liked person around here.

After lunch, I went to my boss's office with my notes about today's meeting. He looked up and smiled kindly at me and gestured for me to sit down.

''So'' He said while still typing something on his laptop ''What did you do today to run late?''

I rolled my eyes '' It was my watch's fault " I said.

He looked up from his laptop screen and lowered the lid," Do tell! This should be interesting", he said cheekily.

After telling him all the sordid details of my morning from hell, we talked about today's meetings.

He asked for my notes and we started discussing business. If we got the deal, that would leave a huge impact on the company, in a good way of course. I made files for him and scheduled his next meetings for the coming week.

After the discussions were done, I leaned back in my chair to rest my stiff back and popped my knuckles . He looked at me in disgust. He always hates it when I do that. I stuck my tongue out at him.

"So how's Noah?' I asked about his cute few months old baby boy. I absolutely loved this boy. He was so damn cute with chubby cheeks and hazel eyes.

Steve smiled lovingly at the mention of his baby's name. Something stung my heart painfully but I ignored it.

"He's doing good. He's a hyperactive kid. Always running around and causing havoc. OH! And by the way he's turning 1 next week. You are coming, Right?"

I smiled at him "Yeah sure, How could I not come to my little munchkin's birthday?"

"Hey!" He exclaimed as if remembering something," Soph was asking if you are free this weekend so you two could go out shopping. She loves your choices"

I internally rolled my eyes this time. It's not my choice she loves, she just loves talking and trying to get me to socialize was her favorite pastime.

I opened my mouth to say something but he cut me off.

"OH I know you are free this weekend. You don't have a social life and reading doesn't count as an excuse of being busy",

He looked at me triumphantly .

"SHIT" I muttered and huffed.

" Fine, I'll come over this weekend".

With that said I left the office to head home as it was already 5 p.m.
