Time is money

My first encounter with him unfolded in the midst of a bustling cafeteria, the backdrop to a pivotal business meeting.

Discussions about schemes and India's financial prospects filled the air when a bold interruption disrupted the flow. A young man interjected, challenging the trajectory of my commendable scheme for India's financial development. Anger and indignation colored my response, questioning his audacity to lecture me on what's right or wrong.

He bowed humbly, retreated with a simple apology, yet my anger coexisted with a begrudging admiration. He dared to challenge me, to question my ideas. Unable to dismiss the intrigue, I called out, "Hey, you! Correct me, then. Tell me where I've erred."

With eloquence, he elucidated my mistake, simultaneously wounding my ego and garnering my respect. I acknowledged, "Well, impressive! Are you new to this country?"

His response, "No, ma'am. Why?" intrigued me.

I explained, "Most from this background know me and wouldn't dare question me."

He replied, "No, ma'am. I'm familiar with your reputation, but when I see something wrong, I cannot remain silent."

Offering him a job, I shocked those around us. Addressing the bewildered onlookers, I clarified, "He excels in his work, and his actions have left a strong impression on me, hence the job offer."

As I turned to him, I issued a parting remark, "Remember, time is money."

Expressing gratitude, he thanked me. I added, "And don't forget, this is a multinational corporation. Prepare yourself accordingly."

The waiter presented the bill, and I decided to cover his expenses. Turning to him, I spoke in a tone of warning, "Listen here, young man. I've offered you a job, but I want you to understand that I don't particularly like you. You wounded my ego, and for that, you'll pay a price. Consider this a warning. From this point onward, your life is going to be an uphill battle. I may have offered you a job, but business politics are in play. I'll ensure that you don't easily secure it, and even if you do, it won't be a smooth ride. For me, 'time is money,' and you'll pay a steep price for any minute you waste." With that, I departed, leaving an air of challenge hanging in the atmosphere.
