Chapter Two

"Yes Mr. Mason Owen, I'm sure you've gotten everything sorted out," said Logan Jack as they both stood in his office at the noon of the next day "yes sir" Mason Owen answered and he handed over the file to him,t hat's good to hear "it's good to know you take your work seriously.... and about a solution? What did you come up with? Logan Jack asked him as he flipped through the pages.

" I...well... I went through Marvin ratings recently and I... I don't think they will be able t o pay us back the 15 million dollars in full".

"Are you say ing we're at loss here Mr. Mason? Logan asked coldly with a raised eyebrow.

" Um yeah... no, not exactly... well I... I

do have an idea of how we can trade with Marvin company and still be at the top even without them paying back".And what might that be? "He asked with folded arms as he suddenly became more interested.

" Mr. Ethan, the owner of Marvin company has two daughters. One is already an adult while the other is a teenager, we all know that business marriages are common these days so,... Pls don't get mad sir but I... I suggest you get married to the eldest daughter. She's pretty famous with the press, she seems to attract their attention... If you do make her your wife, our company's rating will go high and we will get more customers and we'll also get the company's money slowly with interest". Mr. Mason finally ended but he could feel the goosebumps on his skin after he was done. He has no idea if he was still going to keep his job after all he just said. Logan Jack's facial expression was hard to read, it was the blank.

"So you're sure Ethan's first daughter would make this company more popular if the news of merging companies is leaked out to the press and sales would go high in the stores since there will be more customers?"

" Y - yes sir" Mr. Mason Owen answered. Logan Jack thought for sometime before finally speaking, "I personally do not believe in all this marriage stuff but..I'm a businessman and I'm also greedy, get me the contract papers my father had with Marvin company, I'm sure there are some rules in there we could use against them and Mr. Mason, book an appointment with Mr. Ethan and myself, I'll like to personally talk to him on this " Logan Jack told him and he responded an Okay. He was a bit happy he was finally saved, at least for now.

"I know you probably know what this meeting is all about Mr. Ethan? Logan Jack asked the average height man who looked like he's in his late 50's. He had a bit of grey hair at the sides of his hair, his face was round in shape, his nose was pointed and a bit long, his eyes were golden and his lips thick and peach colored with a mustache. They sat in the meeting room in which only both of them and Mr. Mason were present.

" I'm not really sure of what you mean Mr. Jack, " the owner of the Marvin company Mr. Ethan said...

Logan Jack was no fool at this point, he pushed a file forward towards Mr. Ethan and he picked it up.

" In there is the contract you had with my father years ago as he lent you the money... You never paid back a dime but kept asking for more until my father passed away. Unfortunately for you, I'm not like my father, so I insist you pay back all the money you borrowed and with interest not even a dime will be left for you. " Logan told him coldly with not even a single smile or expression on his face.

Mr. Ethan dropped back the file on the table. " I don't have that kind of amount to give now. My company is still in a critical state, Mr. Ethan said.

" I understand we're all greedy businessmen here, so I will go straight to the point. If you can't pay back the money you borrowed then I have the right to claim your company as mine " Logan Jack replied.

" You can't do that! " Mr. Ethan said angrily as he stood to his feet.

" You've read the contract right? It's clearly stated in there, that was the agreement you had with him".

" I agreed to that years ago because I know your father was a good friend of mine and he was understanding. He knew I was desperate then and he wanted to help... "

" So you decided to take advantage of him... Well, Mr. Ethan, I've decided to take advantage of this situation as well" Logan Jack told him with cold eyes.

" what do you mean by that? Mr. Ethan suddenly asked a bit calm. Logan Jack was silent, the air in the room suddenly became suffocating. Their eyes met and stared at each other inquisitively. " I want your eldest daughter's hand in marriage " Logan blurted out. Mr. Ethan's eye widened in surprise, his face turned red and he was still for some minutes before he replied Logan that he will think about it.
