It's another freezing Saturday again, my body trembles as a gust of wind blow, making the dried leaves fly up in the air and I duck my head to prevent the dust go into my eyes. I'm free from work today so I decided to unwind at a bookstore, the boulevard that I'm walking onto is packed with pedestrians, the roaring engines of cars can be heard as they cruise the streets. Sudden feedback of an electric guitar being plugged in an amplifier recoils me, the annoying sound alters into breathtaking shreddings and rifts. My interest diverts to the street performer, the guy standing in front of the park, that amazed the bystanders with his guitar skills; his fingers playfully runs through the fingerboard making harmonious sounds that please the ears of his listeners, cheers and whistles are the responses of the gratified and the displeased simply walks away with their hands covering their ears. I also cheered along, whooping and clapping my hands in an exaggerated manner, I took my cellphone out and started to record the live performance of the awesome guitarist. The show lasted about ten minutes of nonstop rifting and shreddings, I left the place with a smile after putting some bucks on his hat that it was lying on the ground, I immediately sent the video clip to Charles,
"Hey dude, check this out! \m/, "
my feet leads me to the destination that I eventually planned to go to, it is a secluded bookstore that has a lot of paranormal and horror books, actually its all about paranormal and horror in there. Even the atmosphere of the inside and out is creepy, it has the air of an abandoned cellar that was forgotten for a century or two; the door shrieks as I open it with great caution, I took a quick glance at the inside of the store and noticed that the store owner is the only person. The man, almost at his fifties, smiles as he sees me entering his humble store,
"Hello there young lady, you've come again."
"Ah, you've got it, wrong old man! I'm her specter."
I reply with a sarcastic tone as I approach the old man who is standing at the edge of the room and he laughs along,
"There's a bunch of new books at the first bookshelf, you'll gonna love it gal."
with a nod as my response, I went to the first shelf, I briefly squealed upon seeing them, the newly printed pages can be smelled around the book. My cellphone chimes to notify me that a chat has arrived,
" I saw this guy a few minutes ago, he's a monster. B-D"
"Really?! Where are you now Charles?"
"At the bus stop waiting for a friend of mine, why?"
"Awww, too bad. Well, there's always a next time. :)"
I sneak the device inside my pocket so I can finish my business in this shop. I took the book that piqued my interest the most and paid it up to the owner, he bid farewell as I leave his modest bookstore carrying the plastic bag where the book is in it. The urban noise rams my ears again and the cold breeze scarfs my neck giving me shudders that flowed all over my body; when I turned to the next alley, that it is a shortcut to the boulevard, I bumped into someone making the two of us lose equilibrium and fall to the humid ground with our butts first. I wince for a second but recovered quickly, I took immediately one of the plastic bags that were laying on the ground and check up on the person I bumped into, I stand up and reach my hand out to help the girl who flumped; a young girl that may be around sixteen or seventeen and the typical girl that all the guy's want. She grabs my hand and I pulled her up
" You all right?"
"Thanks. Y-yeah, I'm fine, I wasn't looking. sorry."
and she brushes the dust off her butt. The girl picks the left plastic bag up, I gave her a smile before leaving
"Well, have a good day!"
"Umm...wait."
"Yes?"
I respond as she tries to halter me,
"I think I got lost. I'm looking for a bus stop where there are a snack bar and supermarket near it. Do you know where is it?"
"Hm? Oh! I know where that bus stop is, actually I'm heading there now."
"Really? Great! Can I tag along?"
"Sure!"
I reply before we go walk to the bus stop. Her eyes wandering with an enchanted look as we traverse the boulevard, maybe this is the reason why she got lost; I look at her and wonder
"You're not from here I guess. Er..."
"Elise. Elise Skinner, I just transferred here last Wednesday."
she smiles at me with such innocence, she makes me want to have a little sister. We got along so fast that we talked a lot of stuff and suddenly realized that we are already on the bus stop. A guy suddenly approaches Elise while waving his hand with excitement, but got surprised as soon as he sees me and I too got surprised because I didn't expect that I might see him here of all places and spoke our names at the same time
"Ashley?" "Yohan?"
"Eh? Do you know each other? What a small world!"
Elise says looking at the both of us astonished, Yohan looks at her and started to stutter with sweat dripping on his forehead down to his cheek.
"W-well, She 's the daughter of the stew house we went the last outing and also--"
"His fiancée."
Yohan got interrupted by Elise as she lovingly clings onto his arm. Without any second thought or restraining back, he halfheartedly pinches her cheek and he continues,
"Can you please stop spreading wrong information that might cause an uproar. Sorry 'bout that, she's my cousin."
I chuckle at them while seeing them quarrel and also I don't know why I felt relieved when he told me how are they related. We waited for the bus for almost an hour and then rode it, As soon as I arrived at the exact location that I'm waiting for I waved at the two and upon reaching the house, I open the plastic bag and realized that I grabbed the wrong one; the horror book became a box of fish food.
