His Life Without Her (2)

"Bro, can I hire one of your man to man her? I just want to hear updates about her every time I come home. I will not ask you to manipulate her for me, just report her activities and her whereabouts." I asked Dan seriously.

"Wow! Is that not an evidence of mistrust bro? Why would you do that?" Dan raised his brows.

"You just haven't tried falling in love bro. If you were on my shoes, I swear, you'll do everything within your power to make sure you know how your love is doing. It's not an issue if mistrust. I worry that others might scheme against her. " I told Dan helplessly.

"Okay, okay. Does this mean he has to follow her even in school?" Dan asked.

"Up to him as long as he will not appear suspicious. Instruct him to be discreet. I'll come home every after two weeks and I need his report every Friday night." I instructed Dan then we agreed to go for jamming with the rest of our friends that Saturday. My brother came home early at eight o'clock PM and we all went out for a drink spree.

.....

The second time I came home, I got hold of the first report of Dan's man whom he tasked to observe my love. There were photos of her and her friends sitting on a bench that I thought I sat on before. The first thing I noticed was her hair cut. She appeared boyish but rather more appealing in her new hairstyle. She was sitting next to a man whose head was bowed down while the rest held some food in their hands while laughing. One photo was her and some girls sitting on a rock. They all have back packs. Another photo was taken along the road where it appeared they were coming up the road. Three girls wearing royal blue blazers and skirts while the four men were in sky blue polo and black slacks. They were randomly spread across the road as they appeared to be talking to each other. I stared at this photo for some minutes. She was so gorgeous and her hairstyle actually complimented her vibrant and adventurous aura.

The written report stated that my love has only three main routine activities -school, hanging out with friends after school, and hiking home early Saturday. There were however two Friday evenings when they hiked home with her company of girls. It was full moon during those evenings so probably they took the delight to hike at night.

I drafted a letter for her thinking to hand it to Dan so he can send it thru his men. When I went to his office that Saturday morning, it was closed. I bumped with another staff just as I was about to go back and she said Dan had travelled to inspect some projects somewhere outside B City.

.....

The third time I came home was the Friday night of the first week of August. As usual, I headed to the pile of letters on the divider to get a report and hopefully a letter from my love. To my surprise, I got hold of a thick large envelope addressed to me by my love. There was also a large brown envelope apparently a report from Dan's hired man. I was excited to know what's in these envelopes. I hurried to my room to open them. My heart was racing with excitement and instinctively worry that something might be wrong.

Upon opening the large envelope from my love, there spread in my eyes all the letters I've sent to my her. My heart pounded faster as I opened the folded note. 'What???Happ Happy Wedding??? What is she talking about?!!!' I continued to read.

"Agnes!!! You better hide from me, I'm going to kill you!!!" I shouted at the top of my voice upon finishing the letter. Every word she wrote pierced through my heart and soul. I cannot believe things can go this way! It never crossed my mind that Agnes will destroy me like this! 'Was she out of her mind? Does she think I will end up liking her if she succeeds in destroying our relationship with my love.' I slammed my fist on the table and flipped everything on it. I'm sure I will kill that scheming woman if I find her.'

"Haaaaaahhhhhh!!!" I shouted again at the top of my voice. I felt helplessly devastated.

"Mark, What's wrong with you? Open the door!" Grandpa's voice hollered outside my bedroom as he pounded the door strongly. They must have been awakened by my loud shouting.

"Mark, are you okay? Open the door! What's happening with you Mark?" Came my Grandma's voice. I looked at the broken glass on my floor and all the scattered papers around. I sat down beside my bed trying to calm myself a bit before walking to the door to let my grandparents in.

"What's wrong with you?" Shouted my grandpa angrily.

" Cover me Grandpa! I'm going to kill that scheming woman! I swear I will kill her!!!" I said controlling my anger not to shout.

"Woman? Who? Your girlfriend?" Grandpa asked.

Grandma hurried to pick up the scattered pieces of papers on the floor and put them together. She found the note that I just read. She adjusted her lenses and slowly sat beside me to read.

"Do you know where that woman is? I swear I could kill!!!" I gritted my teeth and pressed my fist tightly on my bed.

"Agnes...." Grandma looked alarmed as she looked at Grandpa.
