The Fall

Deepal couldn't decipher what had happened. Her face was on Kento's chest. As she struggled to get up, the mattress slipped and she fell on his chest again with a thud. Kento gave out a scream 'Aw, that hurts'. Deepal flustered. Kento gently put his hands on her shoulders and said, " That's ok, relax. Take your time to get up'. Deepal calmed down a little and slowly got up. She was amazed by how collected Kento was. Her general impression of Japanese guys was that they get embarrassed really quick and woman's touch meant a lot more to them. After she got up, Kento got up slowly and said, " You look very athletic but aren't you very clumsy.. Kawaii (cute in Japanese)". Kawaiiiiiii????????? Deepal got all red. The only word she has heard her entire time in Japan was," Isn't she cool" or " oh gawd, she looks so manly." This was the first time someone called her Kawaii.

She just blushed and ran away from Mayu's place, leaving Kento and Mayu. Mayu teased,"Kawaii, huh?" Kento asked," What's her name again?" Mayu answered," Deepal".

" I see, don't bother her too much", said Kento. Mayu just giggled.

The next day, Deepal got up early, reflecting on her previous mistake. She got to her part time at Mc Donalds. Finished it after working for 3 hours and then headed to her classes at the university. She was wearing a cap, a loose tee and saggy pants with sneakers. She was listening to music and when she took a turn at her block, she bumped into someone and her cap fell to the ground. The figure that was before her was quite tall. She had to look up to see the person's face. When she looked up, it was Kento. She exclaimed, "Oniisan, its you. Sorry for bumping. I wasn't paying attention." She blushed as she remembered him calling her cute. She moved a little and said,"I didn't know you were in the same university as me." Kento was with his group of friends. His group of friends started teasing him by asking who the foreigner was. Kento answered, " I'm in second year of my Ms in robotics and you?" "I'm in the first year of the same course.", she said. He looked shocked. " Why didn't I notice you before then? Call me senpai (senior) not oniisan(Brother)." Deepal answered,"Ok, senpai". The crowd behind Kento said, "We'll go ahead" and moved on to their class. Kento slightly tapped Deepal's head with the book in his hand and said, " See you again, Deepal" and moved along with his group of friends. Deepal felt his behaviour was strange. All the guys that she knew, fist bumped her or greeted her with loud cheers. This was the first time she was experiencing this but she didn't realise that she was being treated like a girl.
