In-built cooling systems would make sure that the weapon doesn't overheat while it's firing and you can even hotswap the cooling unit as well on the go! You can attach it as a shoulder mounted or even a wrist mounted weapon on a power armour or even mount it inside a ship as a point defence weapon!
