Camera Roll

21:02 | Selina Johnson

It was past nine. I actually noticed the time and felt like sleeping in a long time which was strange itself. Everything seems strange if you think about it. I was out there making some ramen for the daughter of a guy I just met only then in a totally inappropriate circumstances. Why was I there? Who could I be to just force myself over his place? Questions generated for our deeds are irrelevant after events. But no matter how hard I try, that logic never seems to work with me.

-Your ramen will be done in a few minutes. But I can only give you veggies as toppings, is that okay?

-Yeah! I like them.

-...and she is...your mommy?,- A Japanese woman, probably in her early thirties, short height with long hair. A rather sweet looking woman.

-Hmm. This one was taken at my school's annual cultural festival. Dad took this.

-Wow you both look cute. Specially you with that caterpillar dress; but what is your mom wearing?

-A Kimono. She always used to put on them for festivals and other ceremonies.

-I see; I haven't seen this type of clothing before. Actually now that I've seen her...it seems to me that you look a lot like her,- There was a framed picture of her in the shelf I noticed earlier. I could comprehend their story already and I was not gonna ask a kid what happened to her absent mother.

-(Sighs)I think your food is ready. Let me get it for you.

-Thanks. Can I come and maybe help you with anything?

-No Jane. I'll be done in a moment. You just sit tight, ok?

-Okay.

-That's like a good girl.

Thanks. A follow up is coming soon.
