Grandma Rocked: bad for Marine

Grandma and I entered the house. Marine and Father greeted grandma and welcomed her.

"Thank you so much sweetie," My grandma said

"Mother, we missed you a lot, and always wished you good health," Marine said(stepmom)

Yeah, right, if grandma hadn't come, I wonder if Marine even knew how my grandma looked anymore. Always talking sh*t. I thought

"Dear, I am wondering how you comb your hair?" Grandma asked a really weird question to Marine

"Why mother? Is something wrong?" Marine(Stepmom) asked

"Oh! nothing wrong, It's just that you hid your devil horns so well I can't even see them, or maybe my eyesight has gotten weaker" Grandma mocked Marine out

And oh dear! I barely controlled my laugh. Marine's face was worth looking at. She maintained her smile forcefully.

"Mother, that.." Father was about to say something, but before he could complete it, Grandma smacked her stick that she used to walk on father's head.

"You punk, have you forgotten your manners, don't speak when two people are speaking" Grandma scolded father. I mean, what did even father think? Can he rescue Marine in front of grandma? Oh no, you can't, dad.

"Mother, please don't insult me like that, " Marine said with a weak smile, sweat on her face, and awkwardly

"You stupid! I am not insulting you. I am just describing you!" Grandma scores 2, This satisfies me. I hope grandma stays here forever.

Marine clicked the button in her that leads to a water tank, which helps her to create crocodile tears without any limiting easy way. To be clear, she started to cry.

"Mother, It hurts my feeling when you call me stupid, I am sorry if I did anything wrong," Marine said, and truly she scored a 10 here because it was convincing. She should be an actor instead.

"Oh dear, Did it hurt your feelings?" Grandma said in a deeply worried voice.

What? Are you thinking she is convinced too? Or maybe she quit the game? Come on!, We are talking about grandma here.

"I am sorry dear, I thought you already know you are stupid, didn't Leo(Father's real name is Leo) tell you? You Idiot! I taught you never to lie. I am sorry from his side dear Clearing" Grandma said and here she scores 10000. I could not control it anymore and burst out of laugh.

"Grandma, It's Marine, not Clearing," I said while laughing

"Oh? I must have mixed up Leo's ex-lover Clair with Marine. Sorry dear, Now I am tired, Ash, take me to my room dear" Grandma said.

I once again picked up her luggage and left with grandma. I brought grandma to my room. I and grandma sleep together.

"How was it, Ash?" Grandma asked with an evil but sweet smile.

"You were BOMB!!" I told her as she laughed

"You are happy with just the starters? The main dish is yet waiting to get served dear" Grandma said and I understood

Grandma went to bathe and I jumped on my bed.

After 10 minutes

"HOW CAN SHE SPEAK TO ME LIKE THAT?" I heard Marine's voice. The voice was subdued because they were in the hall, but I could still tell what she was saying clearly and that she was screaming.

"Honey, She is like this, She was connected to Olivia(My mother's name),", Father said

"SO WHAT? AM I STUPID?" Marine asked

"No honey, It's just that Olivia.." Dad was about to say something, but Marine intruded

"OLIVIA! OLIVIA! OLIVIA! SHE IS DEAD NOW, IT DOESN'T MATTER NOW, STOP TAKING HER NAME, SHE MAKES ME SICK!" Marine said

What did she just say?

I barged into the hall.

"DON'T YOU TAKE MY MOTHER'S NAME FROM YOUR DIRTY MOUTH" I shouted at Marine.

"YOU ARE NO ONE TO DO SO" I shouted

"ASHLEY!, Is this how you speak to your mother?" Father screamed at me

"First of all, she is not my mother, she is your illegitimate wife, and second How can SHE speak like this about my biological mother and your legitimate wife? You can't see that? can you?" I said in a loud voice.

"YOU! Whatever it is, she is elder than you and she can speak however she wants to, you are younger so you MUST show her respect and talk in a low voice" Father said

"My grandma or your mother is also elder than her, she didn't show her respect, just a second ago she was speaking trash about grandma and right know about my mom, and why do you have to say for her, doesn't she has her mouth to speak for herself or she has kept you as her assistant or manager?!" I complained

"Ashley! You are grounded for a week, you won't go to school too" Father said. Father's trick, when he can't fight, he punishes.

"Who will ground my grandchild when I am still alive?" Grandma's voice came from behind, Marine's and Father's facial expressions changed.

"Leo, I heard everything, So, you can't even take stand for your mother in front of Marine, Leave mother, You can't even take your stand for Olivia, the one who saved your life a hundred times, How can I even expect you will take care of your daughter? Instead of you, My grandchild had to speak up for her mom and grandma and even in that, you are trying to prove Ashley wrong and punish her? The one with weak eyesight is you, Leo, You have even weaker eyes than I have. I wonder in what mental condition was Ashley living all these years. If I had known it, I would've kicked you out of my house the time you married Marine. You disappointed me this time Leo. I am really sad and angry. You cannot be the son, I gave birth to. Let's go, Ashley." Grandma said without letting anyone speak in front of her.

Grandma and I left. Dad looked disappointed with what had just happened.

To be honest, I, for the first time saw grandma so angry at my father.

We both entered the room.

"Leo has changed a lot, He was not like this at all when Olivia was alive" Grandma said to me

"I know, He just..." I had no words left to say.

Grandma let out a sigh.

"It's time for your medicines," I said while passing the medicines to her

"Doctor said me to sleep or take a nap after having medicine, so I will be sleeping. Okay, dear? You can go out with your friends if you want to, I will handle your father" Grandma said with a sweet smile on her face.

After a minute, grandma was asleep already. When she was sleeping, I got to my wardrobe and took out a box.

I kept my mother's stuff in that box. I opened it and my mom's photo frame at the top.

The photo was taken at her studio near the mall. The Ashley and Olivia studio. The name was combined with mine and her name. She had beautiful honey brown hair, green eyes, tender lips, smooth skin with a heart-warming smile. She was wearing a solid gray pocket wool look coat and I could see a violet/magenta top inside. She was wearing 2 necklaces. The first one had a heart shape and the other one had a key hanging on it.

I gave a smile to the photo and said -

" Mom, I miss you" That's all I could say to her.

I kept the frame aside and took out a small ring box. I opened it. I kept my mother's necklaces in it.

It had various necklaces, even one with a heart shape.

But, I didn't have the key necklace. When I was going through mom's stuff, I found every piece of her jewelry instead of the key one.

"I wonder where it is," I said to myself

I took out the heart necklace and opened it and there it was mine and mom's pic.

I let a deep sigh out, trying to calm myself.

Then, I packed up everything and kept it back after taking out my mom's dark brown pocket wool look coat.

The cold wind was blowing outside. So I decided to wear my mom's coat. Mom Loved the pocket wool look coats.

I wore it and came out of the house and texted Thia that I was free.

She replied immediately, like always, and she told me to come to the merry coffee shop.

Merry Coffee Shop is one of Thia's favorite coffee places. She told me that it was just like the cafe my mother used to take us to.

I was heading out when I saw there was something in our mailbox. I walked towards the mailbox and saw there was a really fancy looking box. I took it out very carefully and it looked really pretty. The rapping looked expensive and to be true. It was literally shining.

I was confused, who might it be, when I saw at the top corner of the box, in golden color was written " By Alan". Umm, what the heck is this now? I was about to throw it in a nearby dustbin when suddenly Thia called.

"Hey Ash, Did you get something from Alan right now?" She asked as I picked up the call.

"How did you know?" I asked in a worried face and loud shocked voice. Can she see me?

"You idiot, it's because I got that too" she said while laughing

"You did?" I asked

"Yes, Don't you dare throw it, okay? We will discuss it in the cafe, come with the box, bye" She said and hung up.

I let a sigh out. I looked at the box again, and a weird feeling to know what was in the box was taking over me. I snapped out of it and started to walk.

After 5 minutes, I was standing in front of the cafe. My mom used to take me to a cafe just like this. It always gives me a home vibe, not like my real house.

I entered the cafe and sat in my favorite spot, near the window.

I texted Thia "Am here"

Someone entered the cafe and as I looked back it was Thia with the same box in her hands. Something about it made me sad, why not only me to get the box? WAIT! WAIT! WAIT! Ashley, COME TO YOUR SENSES, you wanted to throw it!!!! I came back to my senses.

"Hey, before this box, I want to hear everything that happened in your place" Thia said with excitement on her face.

The waiter came and asked for our orders.

I asked for a large size cafe mocha and Thia asked for a medium size cappuccino.

I told her everything as the order was served.

"OH GEEEEEZ! *laughs* Your grandma ROCKED *laughs*" Thia said and I simply agreed

"This must have been, satisfying for you?" Thia asked

"Yeah, Dad could not say anything, and I am waiting for Lisa's turn the most" I replied

"NOW! let's talk about the box Alan sent to us" Thia said while keeping the box on the table

"Sure" I kept mine on the table as well.

Both of us started to open it up, very carefully as the box and even the knotting looked expensive somehow.

"I wonder how rich Alan is, Our rapping on box means we just want to cover the weird box with something colorful, And his looks like the gift itself" Thia said while unwrapping

"Mine rapping is just for the formality, I don't even pay much attention on it, I just tape that thing up" I said

"Yeah, I know, I remember that one time you gave me a gift and the rapping was like you just kept the rapping paper and taped it where-ever you liked." Thia said with a chuckle

"Come on, It wasn't that bad" I said with an awkward face

Both of us opened the box and there was a fancy-looking envelope. It was shining like hell.

Me and Thia looked at each other and gulped.

We opened the envelope and there was an invitation card.

I looked closely and saw it was an invitation card for Alan's birthday.

"ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! THIS MUCH PACKING, JUST FOR A INVITATION CARD?!" I shouted in irritation and looked at Thia.

"Yeah! That's correct, tomorrow is Alan's birthday, I totally forgot about that this year, but" Thia said

"But?" I asked

"He usually don't celebrate his birthday, hm, What do you wanna do? Want to go or chill, anyways,tomorrow is Sunday?" Thia said

"Is it even a question to ask? I am not going, Look at the card itself is expensive, and look, there is going to be a dance, cake cutting and all, but, if you look closely at the dress code, its, Suit and whatever for man\boys and GOWNS for women\girls. Do you really think I am going to wear a gown for his party?" I tried to make some excuses, but it didn't go well.

"Ash, That's such a bad excuse, That does not make any sense, You can just say that you don't want to go, I won't force you" Thia said with a meh face.

My phone rang, it was Chris.

"Dad is calling, give me a sec" I leid to Thia and went outside

"yes?" I said as soon as I picked up the phone.

"Hey, Ash, I am pretty sure you already got the card huh?" Chris asked

"Yeah, why?"I asked

"Well..., You see, There is also going to be a partner dance right?" He asked

"So?" I asked

"The only partner I want to be is Thia" he said

"So? What can I do?" I asked, totally clueless, what is he saying

"Are you coming to the party?" He suddenly asked out of the blue

"No" I said

I felt a really cold vibe through the phone

"Thia would only come if you come" he said

"Chris, what is it all about?" I asked

"Ash, I want to dance with Thia" he said

"So what can I..... OOOOO, Sorry I understood late, don't worry, we'll be there" I finally understood what Chris was saying, He liked Thia so he wanted to take the 1st step towards their relationship.

"Finally, Thanks, be at the address at 9:00 pm, okay?" Chris said in a cheerful tone

"Sure" I reassured him

"Can I ask you for one more favor?" Chris asked

"What?" I asked back suspiciously

"I once heard that Thia don't buy gowns much?" He said

"Yeah, that's true" I replied

"So, I am going to send a gown to you, can you pass it to her for me? don't mention my name, just say that you bought it" he said

This guy is so sweet, I looked at Thia, she was enjoying her beverage, totally clueless that there is a guy that loves her so deeply.

"Yea, done" I said

"Thank you so much Ash" Chris said and we ended the call.

I came back in and sat back and took a sip of my drink.

"What is it, what did your dad say?" Thia asked

"He was just asking where I was" I said

"Okay" Thia said

"So, be ready at 9:00 pm tomorrow, I will call the taxi" I said

"Why?" She asked

"We are going to Alan's party" I said in a weird voice because just a second ago I was making excuses

"Wait, You just said you did not wanted to go" Thia said with holding one of her eyebrows up

"D-Did I? I don't remember saying that" I said, this is really a mess

"So you are ready to wear a gown?" Thia asked with the same expression

"Yes, My grandma once in her life wanted to see me in a gown, you know I don't wear gown or dresses usually" I said with sweat on my face, I did not want to look suspicious.

"What did he say to you in call?" Thia asked

Did she know I was speaking to Chris

"Tell me, What did he say ?" Thia asked again

"What do you mean? I don't know who you are talking about?" I said

"What did your father say?" Thia said

OMG! She was talking about my dad. Relieved

"Did he say that you have to clean the whole house tomorrow, so you want to escape it, So you decided to go to the party?" Thia asked

"Yes! exactly! how smart of you" I said

"Huh! You can't hide anything from me" Thia said with full confidence, little did she know.

"OH! Look at the time, it's late, I should go" Thia said

"Yeah, me too" I said

We stood up, paid the bill for our share, and came out.

"Bye" Thia said

"Bye, see you later" I said and we both parted our ways.
