-Blake-
It was the last day of the final selection, and one hour before the sun would rise from the sky, and after my group saw the familiar Wisteria Flowers all of them couldn't help but sigh in relief, seeing this familiar place they knew they survived and passed the test.
While they went there together, I didn't have to wait for a blonde dude. I know he'll pass because none of the demons here is his leve. Makomo saw that I stopped my tracks and didn't move forward with them. "Blake-san? The starting place is just a few meters away…"
"Makomo, I know I'm just waiting for someone to arrive, go on I'll be there later," I replied as I sat down in the trees beside me.
"Someone..? Sorry, but is this person a woman?" Makomo bit her lips, and she wasn't even trying to hide it.
I looked at her with a wry look, this little girl didn't even hide the fact that she's jealous?
I shook my head and replied, "No, it's a man, a fellow student."
Makomo sighs in relief, making my expression cringe. This wasn't what I had in mind when I asked her to be a temporary partner.
"Oh, I see a fellow student! Is he as strong as you?" Makomo couldn't help but ask curiously.
"In a way he is…" Technically I didn't lie because Jaune is very strong in this world standard.
"If he's as strong as you he'll no doubt survive!" Makomo said with conviction.
"Of course…"
After talking for a bit, Makomo finally left me alone. I couldn't help but relax, it was fairly obvious that she had feelings for me, seeing how she acts around me compared to before.
Honestly, I don't know how to handle this, a teenager has a crush on me? This is something I couldn't predict, it's not like I could just say it to her face that I can't return her feelings for a few reasons.
I sigh and decide not to think too hard about it. I stared at the beautiful blue sky and inhaled the fresh air.
It was really good, the air from my world couldn't be compared to this one because it doesn't have any pollution in the air, it's very fresh.
While admiring the sky. I sensed a very heavy bloodlust coming from that direction. I slowly stood up from the ground and was ready to draw my blade for any surprise attack.
A bloodlust this strong shouldn't be possible, because even the strongest demon in this place can't do it…unless it's a demon that wasn't supposed to be here…
A demon that is a part of the moon ranks, if that kind of demon is really here then, I have to kill it before it could slaughter anyone, ordinary demons can't get close to Wisteria Flowers because they hated it smell, however that didn't apply for the strongest group of demons the moon demons.
While they didn't like the smell, like any other demon, however, it won't stop them from going because they have a stronger resistance to such flowers than ordinary demons.
Then as I expected, it was indeed a moon demon, it was a good thing that it was a lower moon demon, because even I can't predict the outcome of the battle if I fought one, with the blade I have it's not just possible for me to slay one upper moon demon, because it will break.
Since this wasn't a Nichirin blade, it couldn't change colors.
The demon I saw has a number 4 in kanji on her left eye. I know her but I don't remember her name, but it doesn't matter I'll kill it.
Breath…
Breath…..
"Breath Of The Mad First Form: Rage."
Countless veins appeared in my entire body, then I dashed toward the demon at a speed that broke the sound barrier, a speed that could rival even Korosensei.
The lower moon demon, who couldn't even see me move much less, counters me. I saw her exposed neck and didn't hesitate to try to slice it from her body, however, the unexpected happened before my blade could reach the demon's neck. A blade blocked mine, and my eyes widened.
I quickly reacted and made a distance toward that person who countered my attack, it was surprising to me, after all with my current strength only a very few people could have countered my attack in this world.
And the only person who could have countered this attack is my fellow student, the blonde dork. Jaune.
I looked at him near the shock and terrified lower moon demon, before saying anything I noticed that I broke his blade in half, while mine has cracked because it couldn't handle my strength.
"Jaune, what's the meaning of this?" I asked Jaune in a serious expression.
"Ouch! My hands! You didn't hold back in that attack at all huh..?" Jaune chuckled a little as his hands were trembling from our exchange.
I shook my head, and replied, "Dude, be serious, why are you trying to protect her? Don't tell me you let her live because she's a pretty girl? If that's the case then, let me enlighten you, that demon girl beside you isn't so innocent the humans she devoured could be sized up to a mountain."
Hearing my words. Jaune couldn't help but be surprised and shifted his attention toward Makugo. "Wait, really you do?"
"I…" Makugo couldn't say anything because it's true, she devoured more than a mountain of humans to reach her rank, but she's afraid to admit it.
"Don't try to lie, demon, if you do I'll kill you even with Jaune protecting you," I said seriously. I wasn't joking if she did try to lie to one, I'll kill her.
And my words were effective, as she answered. "Y-yes…I did…"
Makugo couldn't look at Jaune, though she was confused as to why she was ashamed of admitting her crimes.
"See Jaune? That's a demon, so tell me do you still want to protect it?" I said as I looked into his eyes.
Jaune stared back at me, before shifting his attention toward Makugo, "Yes."
The atmosphere was silent for a minute, then I unsheathed my blade and smiled, "If that's your decision then I won't stop you, she's your responsibility, not mine."
I decided to let Jaune handle her, to be honest, I somehow expected this to happen, we are bound to be different from the rest of this world, we aren't a native, to begin with, so the rule of saving a demon wasn't really strange, as we weren't bound to the strict rule of this world that demons are absolute evil they must've been killed at all cost.
Jaune sighs in relief because it would be a really bad situation if the two of them were to fight each other, he knew that his ass would be kicked 10 out of 10.
"Yes, she's my responsibility…I'll stop her from devouring another human ever again."
"Oh? So you're bringing her to Echidna?"
"Yes." His answer only confirmed my guess. Jaune wanted Echidna to make this demon a human again though. I couldn't help but look at the demon in pity.
She would become a human for sure, but for what price?
While Jaune was clueless about the procedures that Echidna was going to do before she could turn a demon into a human again regardless of how powerful they are. I have an idea and I'm sure that it would give this demon a major trauma if she did get that procedure from her.
Though I also have an inkling suspicion about this lower moon demon, she followed Jaune for what? Not killing her? There's no way that's possible unless someone ordered her to follow him.
Muzan.
I see so that's how it is, after connecting the dots. I couldn't help but find the situation amusing, though I have to ask Jaune more questions just to be sure.

After the sunrises, Makugo went into hiding so that she won't be burned by the sun, while I and Jaune went to the place where we all gathered for the final selection.
The number of people who survived was not surprising, there were at least dozens of us before the final selection began.
Now, there are only 14 of us left, aside from my group and Jaune, there are two other survivors, and they look like shit honestly compared to us.
They looked damn traumatized, then a few minutes later Amane Ubuyashiki arrived at the place, her eyes widened a little as she was surprised by the numbers of survivors.
Also, there was a hint of happiness inside her eyes, but no one other than me noticed such a thing, then after that, she congratulated us for surviving and showed us the stones to pick from.
Whatever rock we choose, it's going to be made into our Nichirin blade.
