1 Prologue

New York City's Central Park is occupied by eight bodies of water. The Lock was one of these bodies of water and the moon's faint glow made it luster; as if diamonds were surfacing from it's depths.

It was June, the humid summer night air was filled with the sounds of chirping crickets and the croaking of a frog in the distance. The silhouette of a man stood on the embankment, looking off in the distance.

There, floating in the water was the body of a young female. Laying face down; her blonde hair now a rusted red from the dried blood plastered to her strands. Her body looking ghastly, as if the color had been extracted from it.

He watched; her corpse straying further from the shore. She was out of sight now, not even the full moon's light could reach her.

It didn't feel like he was just dumping the girl's body to discard it, but rather bringing it there to be at peace. Memories played like a silent film in his head; skipping rocks, laying in the grass, having a talk over grape soda and snowballs.

"There was always something about this place…"

He spoke softly, kneeling down in front of him and picking up a single stone. Planting a kiss upon it, he hurled the stone across the water's surface.

"That made me happy."
