Chapter 08: Yggdrasil

[Yggdrasil Frog]

Wow! It has a full name now, but I wonder...

What happens if I go deeper into the observation?

Thinking about this, the <Observation> skill zoomed in on the name opening another window.

This time giving me some flavor text and telling me about the frog.

[One of the lowest life forms, has horns and acid to protect himself from harm.]

I kept om observing now focussing on the Yggdrasil part.

[Yggdrasil]

[Name of the location where you encounter species with the same name. Yggdrasil is the Tree of Life which you are currently residing under. Hence the name Yggdrasil's Dungeon]

Oh, man... I just found out a ton of useful information, didn't I? And Yggdrasil? Are you for real?! At least now I know that I truly am in a dungeon, knowing where I am located helps me find a way out. Knowing I have to find out where exactly I am and where I should be heading next. What was that about my level up?

I think it's best to summarize what I gain for future notice.

I do a complete recovery (both Physically and Mentally).

Stats increase by one (+1) I gain both attribute and skill points.

I gain experience in Skill Proficiency, I may have said this to myself before and with everything going on I didn't want to think about it.

But isn't this world a bit too much like a game? The thing I was afraid of is that I wouldn't take it too seriously thinking of it as a game. Knowing it is unavoidable I have to just think of this as

<Hardcore game>.

*A warm shiver goes down my spine*

Unable to hold back the excitement I gave in to the realization. Giving myself the excuse that I should be able to get a little excited, so long as I wouldn't let my guard down.

Excitingly I continued my journey. Walking along the path left behind by the potential humans. Finally arriving at an opening where the tracks began to spread out. Walking past the opening I looked in awe as the covering seemed to have grown in size.

Unable to see the ceiling in this darkness I continued with my plans. To find whomever these tracks could lead to. Arriving at rather large boulders which had a faint glow around it.

On the other side, I could see the wall and a campfire which was still burning strong.

A lot of stuff was laying around the place. Including something huge!

Not being sure about what it was I walked closer.

Upon closer inspection, it seemed like some kind of fossil? Unable to find whoever might have left their tracks I worried about what could have happened and if the ones who have been here not so long ago would return shortly.

Not wanting a face to face encounter so quickly I decided to take the unknown object with me.

Back at my home, I should be able to figure out what it is right? Maybe I could try and break it along the way...

Along the way back home I tried dropping it from seemingly high boulders, even scratching, biting, or flinging it in the air. I can tell you the latter wasn't a success. None of them were...

Maybe I'm just not strong enough yet and would there be anything in it?

Curiosity got the better of me, wanting to know if it could break I rolled it back home.

There I lay it on top of the pond. Water began dripping on it,

slowly drenching it with clean water. Noting much really happened.

*sigh*

Well... what did I expect? Maybe something might happen if I'm able to break it, it looks spherical. I am hoping it's an egg... but we won't know until we split it open and break its shell.

Then for now I should get stronger, being able to survive against most monsters here that are the top priority right now. Because without strength I would be able to claw my way to the exit.

This means we will have to start "Farming".

Hahaha, this started feeling like a game now.

"Yggdrasil" am I residing under the tree of life? Is that way these caves are all brimming with life?

I wonder it is an egg, if it is I can't eat it raw right? I also have to find a way to cook it properly, maybe leveling up could help me acquire a skill to manipulate or breath fire?

"Want to learn Fire Manipulation?" [YES] / [NO]

Is this system for real, I can learn the basic principle of fire elemental manipulation?

Almost right of the bet?!

[YES]

"Warning, learning this skill requires you to spend 10 skill points. Still want to learn the following skill?"

Yes, I am sure I want to be able to breathe fire like other dragons!!

[YES]

"You have Acquired <Fire Conjuration lv 1>."

Yes! I finally learned something that will allow me to attack from a distance. I should be trying it out right now. I went outside of the place I call home in search of prey. Time to find my first victim!

The plan stays the same, trying to level up to crush the curiously looking rock.

*sigh*

It's a little frustrating that I can't break it right away, oh well... now I can work towards being able to cook my food. If I want to live and survive...

*looks around the area, finding a small waterfall*

Then I have to get stronger and level up.

Hmm...?

*something swiftly flew by almost instantly moving from the left to the right*

Our eyes met making the creature aggressively approach me from the air. Perfect timing!

Now I can use my <Fire Conjuration> I locked the creature in my sight and tried thinking of what to do next. But nothing happened...

What...

The creature was rapidly approaching, unable to hurl fire I need to dodge quickly.

Doing so in the nick of time I quickly turned around and opened my mouth to scream at the creature. Suddenly something warm formed inside my mouth.

Fire!! Realizing what it was I quickly closed my mouth, keeping it as a trump card.

Again the creature rapidly approached me. This time I wanted to try something different.

Just before the creature could strike with its sharp needle-like back I turned around slamming my tail towards it.

Doing the unexpected the creature got startled trying to dodge it. Unable to dodge my tail slammed into it. Leaving it pretty roughed up. Now angry the creature rushed towards me.

With not just one, but multiple needles. Having a hard time dodge all his strikes.

I began to get sucked into its pace.

Having enough of this annoying rush of attacks I opened my mouth releasing a devastating blast of fire out of my mouth. The creature dodges the attack,

but the heat was so intense it melted away its wings. Crashing it to the ground without anything to slow him down. The creature crashed into the ground losing consciousness in the process.

Again... I had won... Not sure about it I approached the stumbling creature.

Deciding to end his misery I walked to him and bit straight through its neck.

Bloodshot everywhere as I chewed down on the corpse. Having such a horrible taste it would almost be a waste to leave it. Munching down on the remains I suddenly heard the voice.

"You accumulated enough experience and advance from <Baby Scalus lv 4> to <Baby Scalus lv 5>. Due to this you gain 3 additional skill points and attribute points."

"Due to the survival of a disadvantaged battle, you have accumulated enough experience and advance from <Survival lv 1> to <Survival lv 2>."

Having fought a flying enemy I did not know what to expect next...
