Am I the Magi King?! Part 2

"Well, if I am or not, will have to wait." Dax said as he got out of his bed and started getting dressed. "I have an appointment with a doctor."

"Are you sick?" The little whelp asked. "I am not sensing any illness from you. Are you sure you are unwell?"

Dax stopped and thought for a moment before answering. "Never can be too sure… especially with everything going on… What do I call you anyway?"

"Oh, well I hatched with no family, so I do not have a name." The whelp said. "Would you like to bestow a name upon me Magi King? It would bring me great joy to have a name from you."

"Ugh let's see." Dax said, placing his finger on his chin while he thought. He looked the little dragon over, tiny body, black scales, he needed a name that encompassed those things. "How about Drakie?"

"I think that is a wonderful name!" The little whelp replied. "Henceforth my name shall be Drakie!" As he said those words magic swirled around his little body and his whole body began to glow with a golden light.

"What is happening?" Dax asked, concern was visible on his face. "Why are you glowing?"

The dragon did not respond until he stopped glowing a few moments later. "Now that you have named me, we are bonded!" Drakie replied. "I read it in a book and wondered if it was real! It is! I am Drakie! Dragon and companion of the Magi King!"

Dax sighed. "Somehow I feel like I should have seen that coming…" He said, with defeat in his voice. "Well, Drakie I will be going now… Are you good to stay here…?"

"I am coming with you!" Drakie said happily. "I shall follow you everywhere you go! I am happy to not be alone!"

"Great…" Dax said.

"Do not worry Magi King Dax, no one else will be able to see me." Drakie said. "I will be your invisible companion! You will see I am a great help! Drakie has read all of the books in the library of dragons!"

"Do you know magic?" Dax asked.

"Of course, Drakie knows magic!" The little whelp responded happily. "Not as much as the Magi King of course, but what was written in the library!"

"Well, let's say I don't remember any magic…" Dax said. "Could you teach me some?"

"It will be my pleasure!" Drakie cheered. "Drakie shall teach you the greatest of all spells that Drakie knows!"

"Why are you referring to yourself in third person now?" Dax asked, with a slightly annoyed expression upon his face."

"Drakie never had a name." Drakie said. "Drakie just wants to use it as much as possible!"

"So, when the excitement wears off you will speak normally?" Dax asked.

"We shall see." Drakie said. "If the excitement wears off."

"Dax!" Helen yelled. "It is getting late, your appointment is soon! If you are going to eat breakfast, you need to hurry up!"

"Coming mom!" Dax yelled down. He then opened his door and made his way to the kitchen. Drakie followed him, flying just slightly behind him. When Dax sat down to eat, Drakie sat on the table next to his plate.

Dax looked at both of his parents, seeing if maybe his father just didn't notice the dragon before. It seemed like Drakie told him the truth, the two of them had no idea the dragon was there.

"What are those?!" Drakie asked, as he looked at Dax's plate.

"Pancakes." Dax said.

"Yes, dear." Helen answered. "I made you pancakes, is something wrong? You usually love pancakes."

It dawned on Dax that his parents could not see nor hear Drakie so if Dax answered him, he would appear like he was talking to himself. "I was just saying how happy I was that it was pancakes." Dax said quickly. "You know how much I love your pancakes." He then chuckled.

"Yes, I am glad you like them." Helen said. "Now hurry up and eat, we need to leave."

"Pancakes look delicious." Drakie said. "Can Drakie try one?"

Dax looked at his dragon companion wanting to answer him but decided not to. Instead, he picked up one of the pancakes when his parents weren't looking and gave it to Drakie. The dragon devoured the pancake in one bite.

"That was delicious!" Drakie cheered. "I hope there will be more!"

Dax finished the rest of his pancakes without answering his dragon. When he finished his mother collected the plate in front of him and placed it in the dishwasher. "Alright dear, let's go." Helen said as she started walking towards the door. As she passed Frank at the table, she gave him a kiss on the forehead. "We will be back later, have a great day at work love."

"I work for the government." Frank said. "No such thing as a great day there… but for you, I will try."

"That's all I can ask." Helen replied with a smile. She then went out into the garage and got into the car.

Dax followed her and Drakie followed him. When he got to the car, he opted to sit in the back seat that way Drakie wouldn't try to sit on his lap or anything weird. He opened the driver's side door in the rear and slid across the back seat to the passenger's side. Drakie followed him in and grabbed the door with his tail and closed it behind him.

"That's a weird way to get into the car." Helen said, as she looked at her son from the rear-view mirror. "Why didn't you want to ride in the passenger seat? Don't want to risk being seen with your mother now that you go to the academy?"

"Just felt like getting in the back." Dax said.

"It's okay." Helen said. "I did the same thing when I was your age. Buckle up and let's go."

She opened the garage door and drove out. She was hopeful that this doctor would help her son since she had been unable to herself.
