Primo

As I was staring at a white wall thinking what should I do. Can I sacrifice my reputation for this kind of case? If I'll let Maxen to be proven guilty, they might get mad at me, especially Aki. But if I didn't do anything if she have been proven not guilty, then the authorities and the people will get mad at me?

What should I choose?

I closed my eyes and massaged the bridge of my nose.

I'll have a confession moments later with Maxen, at two o'clock.

But now, I'm feeling anxious even though we haven't started yet.

It is already eleven o'clock so I went to the cafeteria to eat my lunch.

"Bro! Let's eat together." Leon invited me.

Leon is my youngest brother, he is one of the attorney here. He is known as Attorney Leonardo Arell David. I don't know why do he even need to follow me even in workplace.

I don't have a choice but to see him everyday, at house and here at our headquarters.

"Bad mood?" I didn't answered him.

I'm not in the mood to talk to people since I am thinking a lot right now.

I sat on my usual table and started eating while thinking deeply.

"Solo?" I heard Aki's voice beside me. I chuckled a little bit and ate my food.

"Can I sit with you right?" she asked me.

"You're already sitting," I joked her. She just nodded and started eating her food.

"Are you still gonna defend Maxen?" she asked out of nowhere.

"I'm not sure, I didn't know her side yet." I said. Aki looks disappointed and didn't talk for a while.

"You'll face Eiwel," she said.

"I know, but we all know that no matter how many times we face each other in court, win or lose, nothing changes in our relationship." I said. She just smiled and simply nodded.

I don't even know why Eiwel and I accepted it at the same time.

Without knowing that both of our cases are connected.

"Goodluck," she smiled at me before she stood up and went outside.

Argh! Her smile, it's making me flustered.

I can't think straight.

Since our headquarters started, I already had a crush on Aki. I didn't confess since I thought this is just an infatuation. But why does it feel differently now?

All I got to do is to hide this unsure feeling.

After I ate my lunch I went to my office to take a rest. Even for an hour I'll rest my mind.

I took of my coat and sat in my swivel chair while looking at the ceiling. How can I take a nap now? Everytime I close my eyes I can see Aki's smile.

Due to boredom I turned my swivel chair until I get dizzy. I can't sleep so I'll do some things to help me to sleep.

But an hour passed and it's already two o'clock I heard someone's knocking at my door.

It was Nero and he said something that made me stood up.

"Attorney David, she's ready." Chief Hermenez said. I stood up and fixed my black necktie, I wore my coat again.

While the two of us are walking in the hallway, I asked Nero a lot of questions since I need to know if Maxen's sensitive.

"No, she's not that sensitive that will come to the part that she'll get mad and shout at us. She'll just gonna get upset or she might cry." Nero said.

"Can I ask her everything that can help me to defend her? Any questions?" I assured.

"I said yes." Nero said with furrowed brows. Well, I'm just making sure because I might be sued if I say or ask something to the child.

"It's up to you, when you're done just call me. I'll be waiting outside and sleep." Nero said as he sat outside. I just nodded.

Does this man have anything important to do?

I went inside the room where Maxen was.

I saw her sitting in a circular table while her eyes are looking down. I sat in front of her and opened my briefcase, with her files inside.

"Maxen," I called her attention. Her amber eyes met mine. She looks conscious while waiting for my words.

"Based on your aunt's statement, are you mad at your parents?" I asked her.

"Y-Yes I-I am b-b-but..." she said while her eyes are starting to tear up.

"Did you do it?" I asked her, her tears are starting to fall down through her eyes while she's sobbing unstoppable.

"I d-din't do it..." she uttered. She's stuttering so I lend her a bottle of water before continuing asking her some questions.

"But why did they saw your fingerprints in the knife, which is the weapon who used to kill your parents."

"I-I..." she stopped and just looked at my eyes. She was like begging for help, she's not saying anything, she just kept on crying.

What should I do? I mean, I don't know if she is or she is not. Some of my guts saying that she killed her parents while some of mine are saying she did not.

I need to know everything, before I make my decision if I'll continue defending her.

"Can you tell me everything?" I asked her once again. She shook her head and said something that made my heart beat uncontrollably.

"I-I can't... She's gonna get mad."
