Magic

After Raven is done expanding Luna's spiritual nodes, she sits down in front of her and starts to explain the process.

"First, we need to figure out what force of nature you have. The most common are the elements. Light, dark, and special are rare. Special being extremely so."

Luna notices that Raven doesn't clarify on what special is.

"Now then, meditate. Cup your hands together in your spiritual realm and focus on a single point in your hands. If you do it right, something should manifest itself. That will be your force."

Luna take a deep breath and enters her mind. Doing as she says, Luna stretches out her arms and cups her hands together and focus on them.

Minutes pass by without anything happening. Luna start to wonder if this will work, but then she see a faint light appear before her. A transparent blue orb manifests itself.

She studies it closely, making sure she gets every detail. It's completely smooth. The smoothest sphere she's ever laid eyes on.

Clutching it in her hands, there's no give to it no matter how hard she squeeze it. It's surface feels like glass, but she can tell it's at least as hard as stone.

Luna opens her eyes and to look at Raven. Her curious expression takes Luna by surprise. She's never seen Raven this interested in anything before. Her eyes widen slightly as Luna open her mouth to speak.

"It's a transparent hard blue sphere."

Raven looks confused.

"Special? No, that can't be right. Can you try changing its form?"

Luna delves into her mind again and focus on changing its shape. Her small metal baseball bat comes to mind. The orb morphs and becomes bigger. Its shape transforming into a cylinder and eventually taking on the shape of the image she imagined in her head.

She tries this several more times. Each time her spiritual walls shrink. The field slowly shrinking towards her.

'This must be because I'm using magic?'

Luna opens her eyes once again to tell her the news. Raven's confused expression doesn't change.

"It's not any of the elements. So it must be a special ability." Raven explains. "Each special magic ability is different. You'll have to work extra hard to figure out what you can do with it."

Luna spend the rest of the day experimenting with her magic. So far, she can only manipulate its form. However, Raven told her there should be much more she can do with it. The potential for special force magic is far greater than the others.

"I'm getting tired of this." Raven's ears perk up after Luna accidently vents her frustration out loud.

"You've been at this for a while. I'm not surprised. How about this, we'll take a break and explore the city."

'She must be rewarding me for doing such a good job. But this is a little out of character for her. Is it because I have a rare magic type that she's willing to be more lenient with me?'

"Alright, let's go." Luna says as she jumps to her feet. "I'll give you a tour."

'Now that I'm stronger than I was before, I think it's a good time to pay the twin blades gang a visit. Or maybe Raven can teach them a lesson. I'd rather see her take out her frustration on someone else for a change.'

As Luna shows her around the dangerous areas, she can't help but to notice Raven's disgusted look.

'I've never asked her about where she's from, but it's clear she's used to a cleaner place.'

"I've been called an animal before." Raven says. "But people who live here are the real animals."

Luna knows what this city looks like to outsiders, but this is her home. She wasn't going to let Raven trash her city like this.

"It's not like this everywhere."

"I sure hope not." Raven responds.

As they walk into the more densely populated areas, all of the resident who notice them are taken back. Luna and Raven made no attempts to hide their identity.

Some of the people are stricken with awe and amazement, while others see the werewolves as demons.

Luna isn't used to these stares. She's used to being ignored, so all this attention was getting uncomfortable for her.

Raven on the other hand didn't mind, in fact, she ignored them as if this kind of thing happened to her all the time.

"I think they're admiring your beauty." Luna chuckles trying to tease Raven.

"I wasn't going to acknowledged these disgusting vermin." Raven stops to address the onlookers. "How long has it been? You'd rather live like this than die trying to regain your freedom?"

"Raven. Don't talk down to people like that." Luna raises her voice and bears her fangs.

Raven ignores her and continues speaking. "What about your leaders? Are they helping you? Or are they taking advantage of this situation for their own benefit?"

As Luna is about to interject once again, Raven shoots her a cold glance that shuts her up.

"Luna was born here." Raven points to her. "She knows what it takes to live here, how terrible this city has treated her. How you people have taken advantage of her. And yet she still wants to fight back against your suppressors to free you."

"We never heard of her." One of the people says.

Raven looks at Luna who by now knows what Raven is trying to do for her.

"It's not time yet." Luna whispers to her. "We need to show them that we have to strength to make their lives better."

"I know. I just can't stand weaklings. I can't stand people who don't fight for what they want."

Raven grabs Luna by the arm and drags her away. "Come on. I need to kill something to vent my frustration."

"Wait. You don't have to grab me so hard."

Luna gives Raven directions towards the Twin Blades hideout while she's still being dragged along.

"I'm going to be able to get my revenge, am I?"

"You killed the four that came after you. It's my turn to finish what they started. No one attacks my student and gets away with it."

"So you do care about me?"

Raven tightens her grip on Luna's arm. "Don't push it."

When they reach the hideout, Raven inspects the crudely made wall that surrounds their compound. The wall being made out of various sheets of metal and degrading wood surrounding several large buildings.

Raven releases her grip and lets Luna go. "I'll deal with them. There's too many for you to handle."

"I need more fighting experience." Luna says while trying to look like a cute puppy.

"I'll try to leave a few alive for you." Raven snorts. "Just don't get in my way."

Spiritual pressure builds up around Raven as she allows her magic to flow freely. She bares her fangs allowing a devilish smile to creep onto her face.

Her bloodlust intimidates Luna. Never before has she seen someone with a look like that, even in a city like this. This was the face of someone who has enjoyed slaughtering many people.

I know you have an extra power stone to spare. Why don't you give it to me?
