Chapter 8: Appreciation

I woke up laying on a hard surface. I slowly glanced up to see Gavin asleep his hand wrapped around me. My hair across his pillow and his chest. I moved and he pulled me closer. "Gavin sweetheart I have to use the restroom." He groaned but released me and I took the opportunity to run. "You better come back." He said as I sat to do my business.

I cleaned up and looked at Gavin laying in the bed like a god. He was sprawled out on his back and his cock was still hard from last night. Gavin jumped out of the bed. I hated that Inalready knew the answer and stormed out. "Avert eyes." Gavin bellowed as I walked down the hallway naked towards my room. I was so mad I didn't even care if they saw me naked. I went into my room and licked the door. "Open up Holly, let me talk to you." Tears rolled down my face as I turned on the shower. I heard him bang on the door, but I didn't open it.

I showered and when I came out there was a bouquet of wild flowers and food on my table. "Damn werewolf." I said as I stabbed the hot eggs. I read a few chapter books that afternoon and dinner never came. I called the kitchen, but they said I'd have to talk to the King. I dialed his number and no one picked up. I went to his room, but it was empty. Pissed off I walked to the end of the hall. "Sean do you know where the King is?" He nodded and pointed to the window.

Outside there was a white tent set up and a table for two. I glanced at Sean. "You think he's down there in the pouring rain eating dinner with someone?" I asked and Dimitri coughed. "I think he's waiting to have a dinner with someone." Dimitri eyed me and I huffed. "That man is full of manipulation isn't he?" They shrugged and I threw my hands up in the air. I went to my room and changed into a white evening dress. My body filled it out very nicely since I have been here and eating properly. I didn't bother with shoes or doing anything special with my hair. I added oil to it and to my skin before leaving the room again.

I walked down the stairs between the two guards and Dimitri smiled. "How long has he been out there?" Dimitri looked to Sean. "Since flour your Majesty." Sean said with a nod. "Please just call me Holly." The shook their heads and I huffed. I made my way down the stairs and out to the garden area. I walked across the damp grass and stopped as Gavin made eye contact.

He stood up and walked to me. "Will you have dinner with me?" He put his hand out and I looked at it before glaring back at him. "I'm sorry I didn't wait for you. I was young and thought I was in love. She was human and I hoped she was the one, but I had to move to California with my Mom... She had kept me safe for sixteen years. Away from the horrors of my father and the idea of being a King." Gavin turned his face and looked up at the rain. "She rejected him, and ran. He let some horrible things happen and she knew my grandparents would make me a monster. So she ran and raised a spoiled ass kid who thought she ran because she was scared."

Gavin rubbed hisnhands together suddenly unsure. "When we got a call to come home my Mom sat me down and explained everything. I was mad, and determined to make it work there, so we moved to California. Jackson, my Father tried for a while to get my Mom to cave and for a bit he had us all fooled. Mom grew close to him, I grew close to him..."

He rubbed his hair and the water shot off his hair. "One night he attacked her and she told me to run and I did. I ran like a fucking coward to get my Uncle. The following day he seemed fine and he attacked her again. I went to run like she asked, but I couldn't. So I ran to her." He swallowed and I put a hand on his arm. "You don't have to finish." He rocked back and forth. "I do, you should know why I want you to be sure." He looked at me and I nodded.

"He had her cornered and she yelled her rejection for the second time before he bit her. He took a chunk out of her neck, and I lost it. I don't remember much of the fight. Just that I had killed him and his power transferred to me along with my grandparents power. My Mom was already unconscious and My Aunt and Uncle Alphas of the Beach Wolves took her away and patched her up the best they could." Her blood reaked of rejection and the black ran from her neck for days, weeks. I swore if she didn't wake up I'd climb into hell and kill him all over again."

He took a deep breath and walked over to me and lifted my chin. "I don't want you to be afraid of me and I don't use my full Alpha voice ever, because I am scared to let that part of me free. I learned to control it and defend my people with it. I learned how much power is needed and when to use it, but if we mate and I become more... If I loose it and hurt you, or you leave because I scared you. I don't know I could be strong enough to lead."

He shook his head and walked under the tent. I followed slowly. I some there was a small fire and a table set for two. "Gavin thank you for sharing that with me. I know it isn't always easy to share the things we go through." He nodded and poured me a water and a glass of wine. "I know you wouldn't hurt me like that, you've already proved you wouldn't. You kept us safe, you are freeing Omegas throughout Ireland."

He nodded again as he walked to a tray and handed me a covered dish. "I just got jealous that someone else touched you, and maybe it's different because I am female. But we are taught to wait for our mate." I looked away and waited for him to react. "My mother tried to get me to wait. I had considered it many times... But I also thought my mate would want an Alpha who knew what the hell he was doing down there." He smirked and I chucked a roll at his head.

"Hey!" He yelled as he flashed me a smile. "How many women?" Gavin looked away and then back to me. "Besides my ex, five. All human, and all in the U.S."
