The need to feed

"Remi and the kids would have to upgrade their training as they still need to evolve and now with the way things are progressing the sooner the better." Kaylee stated, Simone looked at Kaylee and then at me. "Are you serious?" Simone asked, "I always thought that you all had already undergone your final evolutions." she added. Kaylee just chuckled "Nope." she answered, "What does that mean?" Sang asked leaning against the countertop, Simone looked over to him, "Every supernatural being goes through a series of evolutionary growth with their powers." she started, "With witches and warlocks they evolve to sorceresses and sorcerers like Nikki and then to Grand mistresses and masters like Kaylee." Simone added as she pointed to Nikki and Kaylee whose eyes began to glow. "With werewolves like Tyler they evolve from simple transformations from moonlight to transformations at will and commanding wolf packs, to partial transformations if need be or transforming into huge brutes that move on two legs like humans and some like Tyler can see through their wolf pack leader's eyes by transference." Simone continued explaining. "It's great for scouting enemy territory." Kaylee added.

"Vampires train to evolve their powers and bodies so they can achieve their final vampiric form and ultimate powers, but Remi and her siblings have been training hard everyday but with no evolution. I don't know what I'm doing wrong." Kaylee finished looking down. "Are they getting fresh blood?" Simone questioned, "Yes." I responded quickly, "Nikki has a friend that delivers bags of fresh animal blood for us to sustain our strength...." I began to explain, "You know that is not what Simone meant." Stephen interrupted staring at me blankly. "Don't act like you don't know that she is referring to human blood. Animal blood can take you only so far." he continued flatly, "I'm not biting anyone Simone, I can't do that." I responded looking at Simone and before the others could interject I continued, "I am not feeding on humans." I finished, "Then none of you would ever get your final evolution." Stephen's voice boomed through the kitchen as he stood in the doorway. Everyone looked in his direction, "Don't." Simone chided her twin but Stephen continued, "You know you need fresh human blood to help your body evolve, or all of you can become stuck as you are now." Stephen finished as Simone walked over to her brother in the doorway, she then turned and looked at me.

It has been years since I fed or bonded from a human or anyone at all, "You don't have to bond to feed Remi, all you need is someone willing, it's not like you will be draining anyone." Simone said as she looked at me. "If you are planning on keeping the humans safe and helping your siblings you need to feed." Stephen added as he walked up to me and stood in front of me challenging me as he looked me in the eyes. "I will think about it no promises." I answered as I looked Stephen back in his eyes expressionless. Christmas came and went and everything went back to normal, the kids went to school I continued working at the restaurant where Sang was his usual self, flirting awkwardly making me laugh and the house was always full and lively. The attempted attack felt like a distant memory as everyone moved on from it. Everyone began to participate in our mandatory weekly trainings which were headed by Simone, Kaylee Nikki and Stephen, Simone and Nikki taught the boys along with Da-eun and Soo-min on how to defend against and repel a supernatural attack. Simone and Nikki trained them hard, using actual spell and creating actual fighting simulation for the humans to become acclimatized to how supernatural beings fight in reality not television bullshit, everyone always ended the day bruised and sore.

My siblings and I were trained extra hard by Stephen as we still weren't feeding on human blood, he would sometimes push us to the point of exhaustion. I always felt like the target of his anger at times as he kept enforcing the point that without feeding I was holding back my siblings and stunting their growth. The boys and even Da-eun and Soo-min always pleaded with me to allow my siblings and also for myself to feed off of them, I know they meant well but feeding is more complicated than they understand it to be. "What's the problem with feeding off a willing human?" Sang always asked, "Everyone of us is a willing donor and we trust all of you with our lives, so why are you so hesitant?" he would always question me. They just don't understand the complexity and intimacy that feeding on a willing human involves, if they knew they wouldn't ask so eagerly, so many vampires feed so carelessly just so they can boast about their legion of thralls and minions. That is not the way to treat humans at all, as vampires we are supposed to be able to rise above base human feelings and emotions, we are supposed to have a higher perception and way of life.

But over the ages we have debased ourselves and not just vampires but all the supernatural races, we have all began objectifying humans, treating them as if they have no worth and the Council members have all become corrupted... too corrupted. Today at training I was so wrapped up in my own thoughts that I didn't sense one of Tyler's huge gray pack wolf bounding towards me, eyes bloodshot, mouth open, fangs already slick with the saliva dripping from its muzzle. All I felt was the bite s I got grabbed by the wolf and thrown backwards landing onto the ground and the huge wolf is now standing over me as I lay on the ground. The scent of two other wolves approaching from behind then hits me, I knew if I didn't do something soon more wolves would come, my eyes began to change color, my fangs and claws began to grow. The wolf growled and I responded with a growl of my own causing the two wolves behind me to stop from stalking, the huge wolf in front of me didn't move.
