Chapter 9: Lie to Me - at Coralina: Part ONE

Fall leaves, time for long projects to be accomplished, time when many migrate to warmer places, and few ones dare to stay, to prove themselves they can survive; alone, what live brings during this season. The firefly was all ready and set to travel and embark into a new assignment.

Coralina, was dominated by mermaids that had the gift of reading male minds and feed from the love and feelings their love ones have, they were also known for cultivating the best pearls, unique and the best of all pearls known.

Planet wide.

There was a report where abusive sailors were exploiting the harvest of this pearls for resale in the black market. Cree assignment; to verify the proper rights that protect these mermaids were followed.

For Ada's; she had to survey the area and population for next 2 years to get accepted into the Alliance, re establish new rules and benefits from the production of the pearls market.

Lina the patriarch of the region, had a hidden interest about Cree's love for Ada. It was impossible for Lina to understand how much love a human could've have for a woman. She wanted to understand the reason why a man and a woman could have so much love that no matter what on this planet could've had broken such a liaison and kept so strong that no creature could've broken this strong loving, caring and cherished relationship.

Perhaps that love that many ever understood. A love relationship that Cree loved Ada before he met her.

How's that possible?

Destiny?

Fate?

Lina's curiosity became almost an obsession, her eagerness to understand that loving feeling, that passionate love they both professed; hard to be broken and poisoned, caused on her an increased curiosity to know how such love could survive so long.

Lina wanted to know how two entities could have understood each other to a point that no space separates them.

Ada showed him a way of love they only knew. Lina eagerly wanted to know.

Everyone knew the love the both had was special, the special bond that couples can read each other's mind and looks, the way they both how to talk to each other with few words. That way of looking at each other and understand each other without saying a word.

Perhaps a telepathy communication?

Lina shook her head

Not possible for human beings

They express feelings vocalizing them. The human courtship it's complicated, there's exchange of thoughts and feelings, body touching, hugging, understanding, discussions, feelings of jealousy, lust, feelings Lina's race are not possible to understand.

How come a simple touch or look or gesture can provoke such intense feelings that drive them both to a point they both enjoy and celebrate in such a way the two bodies become one.

Essentially one entity, one being.

Lina's curiosity evidently increased as her doubts about those mysterious feelings and secretly enjoyment was just reduced to two. There had to be more to it.

At Coralina, rules are to report all incoming means of transportation. Unfortunately, a report was missing along with the certification of auditing for The Firefly. Conviction and jail to anyone not complying this new rule.

Cree not being aware of this new registration, got apprehended and taken to jail.

The Firefly got pounded

Ada's unaware of this new regulation got taken to a different area of the jail.

Meanwhile, coincidentally, Lina knew about the lovely couple being detained and requested a new audience and questioning to be performed in front of a jury for previous offenses committed.

The perfect excuse for Lina to know more about these two travelers everyone's being talking about.

Soon enough, Cree got connected to a lie detector.

Ada had a premonition- some type of feeling was bothering her, making her feel uncomfortable.

Down at the hangar, The Firefly was being confiscated for not showing the proper registration for carrying the unprotected firing equipment registration. Cree was taken into custody and forwarded to jail being accused of spying tactics to improperly disclose information to the authorities about exploiting mermaids to collect the black diamonds.

Dalit of course mandated to capture Cree, confiscate The Firefly and question Cree of fraudulent activities exploiting underage mermaids to collect and harvest the black diamonds. Cree denied the charges laid, reason why he was taken into custody and being interviewed because of possession of black pearls from a protected harvesting area. Cree also had pending charges of illegal trafficking of black pearls.

Of course all these changes were presented by Dalit to have Cree apprehended and questioned for his trafficking activities.

More than needed enough charges for Cree to be questioned causing the lie detector, mandatory for all Coralina inhabitants. Behind all those charges, Dalit wanted to know the real secret of why Cree and Ada loved each other so much, how the got to know each other so well.

The next day, Cree will seat in front on the lie detector, and testify in front of Ada and a jury, to decide Cree's fate.

In reality, Dalit curiosity to see both Ada and Cree understood each other; loved each other, how much they cherished each other. What's the secret for such powerful love, that doesn't need to be explained nor excused, a love impossible to set apart, pure, honest and so alive.

At the courtroom, Dalit noticed the way they looked at each other, although it was long ago the saw each other, it seemed they telepathic communicated. That pissed Dalit more. She wanted to know how that connection worked. She wanted to know if love was that powerful enough. With looks they communicated, no evident moves, no evident doings, no evident actions.

More frustration invaded Dalit's mind.

She had to come up with something else.

Shad another plan: the lie detector.

The grand jury was completed, the necessary witnesses sat in the room.

Ada's sitting in first row made Cree feel nervous, but he knew Ada's presence would comfort Cree. They both knew each other, they both knew what each look, blink, move and gesture meant. Every time they spent together, reinforced their relationship. Their conversations allowed them to find a happy medium to understand and face their problems as a couple, work together to help others and combine their acknowledgment to create new solutions to help other people.

Cree's acknowledgment on building and heavy equipment and Ada's auditing skills, turned this couple into a great team to work with.

There had to be something else, some special gift or power that Dalit needed to learn, the missing link they both kept to never underestimate each other's accomplishments and charities managed to support many bedded people around the globe.

The auditing job Ada's performed along with Cree's building of more places for misplaced-running out abusive governments, provided these people with the needed to survive, a place where to survive the night and weather, and also provide them s new future. Cree's connection with well known philanthropists, allowed him to perform all these great actions to help others.

A philanthropist who donates time, money, experience, skills or talent to help create a better world.

Ada's acknowledgement complimented Cree's knowing of the region being audited, and helped Cree's decision how to use the helping hand of his team of donors to assist him oh Cree's cause. Many of the places the both went, were audited, assessed and built according to Cree's building laws.

The night before, Ada was allowed to see Cree. It was a quick visit.

Once again, they were to meet, but couldn't do anything more, there was a guard at the door and Cree was chained by the ankles, to reduce the passionflower running away or fighting the guards to scape.

Ada waited until the guard backed off.

Then she looked at Cree and teared. Her sadness was deep, to what Cree got closer to her to hug each other.

Cree whispered on Ada's ear how much he loved Ada as they hugged.

It was a long hug. Cree whispered on Ada's ear how much he missed her.

Cree hugged her hard, whispering to her ear words he didn't mean, told her the plans for the lie detector to satisfy Dalit curiosity. He had to be perfect on the rumours Dalit heard, the love each other had. A love no one should ever see. The secret they only knew, the only way they knew how to love each other.

Cree told her the love they had had been compromised by the distance and separation they both experienced. Cree felt empty.

Distance was making their love fall apart. After they went each their own way, they felt their love started to fall apart, it continued to fall apart and emptiness started to gain more ground. Loneliness was taking over. Even when they kissed, it did not feel the same. The fire that used to ignite their passionate love was absent. Ada sensed that sadness and started to tear up, to what Cree backed up and looked down.

Cree hold compulsion, stayed calm, but kept sad look.

The guard approached Cree to separate them as Cree whispered something on Ada's ear as the guard pull Ada away.

They both had that intense look.

But no spark.

Cree looked down as Ada was pulled away from Cree's arms,

But Cree whispered something to Ada's ear as they hugged, that made Ada's cry sadder. As they hugged, Cree whispered to Ada's ear to show him
