The Breakfast Encounter

Li Meilin woke up to the ear-splitting sound of her phone alarm the next day. Squinting her eyes from time to time, she slowly opens them and was immediately blinded by the rays of the sunlight that had slowly filled her gray eyes. Damn, she forgot to put on the curtains yesterday night before she went to sleep.

With haste, Li Meilin immediately propped up from the bed when she realized something. Everything that happened yesterday… she thought it was all part of a silly dream. But seeing that she is in some fancy, spacious room right now, then it's true… that she is now employed as the Black Prince's maid from now on.

Getting up from her bed after the realization had finally sunk in, she makes a determined speech inside her head… that she will try to do her very best from now on even if her master is some demon in disguise!

A few minutes later when Li Meilin wakes up and takes the best shower of her life, she is making breakfast for herself and her demon master when she sees him coming down the stairs and zooms past the kitchen. He is already dressed in his uniform with the vest lying on his shoulder. Li Meilin hurriedly went outside the kitchen and called out to him

"Jerk-- I mean, master! Don't you need to eat breakfast first before going to school?" she yells at him. She really doesn't want to eat with him but she has to ask anyway since he is the owner of the house.

Li Meilin soon hears some dramatic gasps from the other maids around the area as they stopped from what they're doing and watched them uncomfortably.

Swiftly, Lim Xian spared her a dirty look.

"After what you have done to me yesterday night, do you think I want to eat my breakfast with someone like you?" Lim Xian raised an eyebrow as he said that.

The bastard didn't wait for her response and continued walking. Seconds passed, Li Meilin could hear the roaring of his car engine while he drove away from here. It would have been better if he would give her a lift to school so that she wouldn't need to spend money for the fare, she thought.

But that won't happen for sure. Not now, not ever.

Frowning, Li Meilin went back to the dining room and finished eating breakfast. When she was about to stuff her food in her mouth, two young maids sat at her table and sat with her for a while.

"So, you're the newly-hired personal maid of young master Xian huh?" said the girl with the short, jet black hair. Her dark brown eyes are shining with curiosity.

Reluctantly, Li Meilin answers "Yes, that's me."

She then hears some overly dramatic gasps from these two girls before the other one with her auburn hair tied into a ponytail began to speak.

"Oh! So the rumors are indeed true! How's your first day as his maid? Did you two already…" the ponytail-haired girl suddenly trails off, making Li Meilin's forehead wrinkle as she looks at her.

"What?" Li Meilin curiously asked. And it was at that moment when Li Meilin decided to finally take a bite.

"You know, did he already had sex with you?"

Li Meilin almost spits the food out of her mouth and straight to the girl's face upon hearing what the maid said but somehow she was able to stop it from happening. She rushed to get a glass of water and gulped it down. The maid swatted her friend in the shoulder in a reprimanding way.

Does that demon treat his personal maids as his sex slaves too?!

"Apologies for my friend's senile tongue here. I'm Yang Chu Hua by the way, and this is Miao Lin. If you need anything, we are willing to help you," Chu Hua says and smiles at her.

Li Meilin is not quite sure if she could trust them both, but she still returned her smile and introduced herself as well, "I'm Li Meilin. Nice meeting you."

Due to that reason, the conversation had to end when Ms. Yu walked in that direction. As a result, the pair left and Li Meilin needs to hurriedly pick up her now empty plates and wash them on the counter. Good thing he was allowed by Mr. Lim to eat here in their dining room as well.

By the time old hag number two arrives here, she was done washing them and is already putting them into their right place.

"I saw master Xian left already, yet what are you still doing here?" Ms. Yu raised one eyebrow at Li Meilin, her face displeased.

"I am also about to leave, don't worry," Li Meilin tries to smile, but Ms.Yu keeps a straight face.

"Then go! Quickly!"

Trembling all of a sudden, Li Meilin zooms past old hag number two and went for the door after cleaning up her dishes.

"That lady is scarier than my previous landlady!" Li Meilin mutters to herself as she makes her leave.

Sniffing her vest, Li Meilin was somehow relieved to know that she doesn't smell like sunny side-ups that she cooked for their breakfast earlier. And speaking of eggs, she really wanted to tell her friends how she valiantly kicked Lim Xian, whom the whole school is worshipping, so hard in his balls yesterday night.

Except that Li Meilin knows for a fact that she would surely be a dead meat by the time she returns back to their house later, or that she would risk her secret to be known by everyone.

She swore to herself yesterday night before going to bed that no one should know about her job, not even her besties.

"Good morning gorgeous!"

Li Meilin lifts her head up to see the smiling face of her best friend Mi Wei. Right now, they are both headed towards their first-period class which is Science.

"Good morning to you as well." the former smiles back at her.

"I was actually quite surprised to see you so early in our first-period class. Did something good happen and why did you suddenly change ways?" Mi Wei inquired, making her a bit uncomfortable by her friend's question.

Remember Meilin, no one has to know your secret! I repeat, no one!

"Well, I just happen to wake up early. That's all," Li Meilin simply shrugs and tries to play it cool for her friend not to suspect a thing.

Li Meilin also got the same inquiring reaction from her other friend Zhao Chen by the time they both arrived in their classroom and settled down in their seats.

"Can't I be early in school? Is it really that impossible for me?" Li Meilin asks them both, feigning her exasperation.

"Yes!" the two answered in chorus.

"As impossible as a crow would ever turn into white," Zhao Chen teases, smirking.

Li Meilin put her hand on her chest and pretended to be hurt, but they only laughed.

Well, some friends she has right here, she thought. Yet Li Meilin honestly loves them both more than anything else.
