CHAPTER 3(Choice)

"What do you want to become when you grow up?"

I've been asked this question multiple times in my life. Every time, I just tried to avoid the question or say something that would satisfy them. But in my life, I truly never wanted anything...

Why?

Because nobody expected anything from me. When they asked what I wanted to become, they just asked out of politeness; they never cared about my answer, so I never thought about it seriously.

I too had dreams, but they were short-lived. My powers are useless in almost any sort of situation. I tried, but no union wanted to accept me, and then I just gave up.

I started watching anime and reading manga, webtoons, and novels, wasting my time when I could have done something more meaningful. I saw how the protagonists fought, never gave up, and always remained positive in any situation.

I saw them and got motivated, but my motivation was always short-lived. Without realizing it, I was back to my old routine. I wasn't exceptional in anything. In terms of looks, I was average. I couldn't even cook, even though I lived alone. I'm not the type of guy who is super kind and would help anyone in need. In fact, I'm quite selfish. I always talk without thinking, which I regretted all my life.

I always wished for some magical system to one day appear and make me all-powerful, to take all of my sorrows away. But reality is quite harsh. It's just some fleeting dream of some nobody in this vast world.

Maybe I could just regress back in time or something, or I could get Isekai'd. But life is not fantasy, and you are not a protagonist. If you are relevant enough, the world will recognize you. If not, well...

There are millions, if not billions, just like you.

So when a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity arrives, what do you think my answer will be?

(HELL YEAH!!!)

"Oh, look at the time. It seems I am done with the work here. It looks like I need to go, but before that, what will you do now?"

"What do you mean by that?"

"Are you that naive or just plain stupid? Obviously, I wanted to know what kind of compensation you want. I owe you that much."

"Well, I really don't know if you ask me that so suddenly, b-but if I had to pick, c-can you make me stronger or tell me something where I can make use of my power?"

"?"

"You can't do such a thing? W-well of course you can't, haha..."

"What makes you think I can't? Of course, I can, but why do you think I would use such a precious potion on someone like you?"
