[Stabilizing Conditions]
A strange, androgynous voice whispered into her blurred mind.
[Condition to Complete the Trial: Find me.]
[Attempts: 0/∞]
Multiple voices echoed in her brain.
Suddenly, everything turned black, and her consciousness faded.

Wednesday felt a heavy weight on her body.
"Where am I?" she muttered, confused.
She opened her eyes to see the familiar dining table in her house.
Clink~
The sound of spoons touching plates filled the room.
"Mom?"
A black humanoid figure, shaped like her mother, sat across from her.
"Oh, dear~ Don't you like dinner?"
The voice was strange and androgynous, but the mannerisms were exactly like her mother's.
"Dinner?"
She looked down at her plate—a black, familiar meal sat there.
Just like this morning... But why was everything black?
Wednesday noticed the strange blackness covering her body.
All the colors of the world had been omitted in her eyes.
[#1/#2/#NaN Hide and Seek]
"Ugh-"
Pain shot through her head. Her vision blurred.
Everything went black.
Dark energy enveloped the world, resetting it to its previous state.
[Attempts: 53/∞]
"Where am I?"
Once again, she repeated the same words.
The dining table was in front of her.
Clink~
The spoons clattered against the plates.
"Mom?"
"Oh, dear~ Did you enjoy dinner?"
"Ah, yes."
How did she forget? She was just having dinner with her family.
As usual, she held her spoon. It was the same black meal her mother always prepared on Tuesdays.
"..."
Her hands stopped again.
"Tuesday?"
She asked, but no answer came.
Wednesday started to feel anxious for some reason.
"Tuesday!"
She shouted unusually.
But no matter how loudly she shouted, no answer came.
"Mom! Tuesday is not answering...!"
She said anxiously, her hands trembling with a strange fear. She had never felt this way before.
Her instincts told her that something was wrong.
Otherwise, why wouldn't Tuesday answer her?
"Tuesday?"
Her mother asked as if not understanding her words.
"Ah, of course, it's a beautiful Tuesday today."
"What? What are you saying?"
Wednesday couldn't understand the situation.
She wasn't talking about the day but about her sister, Tuesday.
"No, why are you covered in black?"
Thump.
Again the black figures fell to the ground.
[#1/#2/#NaN Hide and Seek]
"Ugh-"
Wednesday felt a weird energy enveloping her brain.
Suddenly, her memories seemed confusing.
Her emotions began to calm down.
She felt numb and disoriented.
[Attempts: 54/∞]
Clinking-
The sound of spoons reached her ears.
Wednesday held her spoon calmly.
Her eyes were emotionless like a soulless doll.
"Oh, dear~ Did you like the dinner?"
Her mother asked.
She just stared at her black unrecognizable face pathetically.
"It's terrible."
The black figure stopped for a moment and then stroked her hair.
"I'm happy you liked it."
Wednesday just ignored her mother's words.
"Dear, what do you think about Tuesdays?"
For some reason, her mother started to ask strange things.
"Tuesday, what is that?"
"A day of the week, didn't you know that?"
Wednesday frowned at her words.
"Mother, do you think I'm stupid just because I'm a kid?"
She sighed frustrated by her mother's words.
"A week has only 6 days, I've never heard of a Tuesday."
She diligently returned to eating, ignoring her mother's strange behavior.
"And I'm eating, don't interrupt me."
Her words cut the conversation like a knife.
If she was able to see her mother's face she would see a bright and distorted smile.
"You're so cold with your mother..."
She said whipping her fake tears with a tissue.
Wednesday kept ignoring her.
As she always did.
Clinking.
The spoons touched the plates monotonously.
Uncle Fester and her father seemed to be talking about their "old times".
Her mother just ate her food silently and her grandmother...
Her grandmother? She had one?
[#1/#2/#NaN Hide and Seek]
Ah, how did she forget? Her grandmother died long ago.
How could the dead eat together?
Today she was "forgetting" a lot of things.
Wednesday finished her meal and whipped her face with a tissue.
She sipped her juice, organized her plate, and headed to the kitchen.
The black water fell as she diligently cleaned her plate.
Her hands stopped when she noticed a strange anomaly in her monochromatic world.
In the black water, the reflection of a girl with blue eyes and beautiful blonde hair appeared.
"Who?"
When she tried to touch the girl, her hand moved in the same direction as hers.
"Is it me?"
Her hands were black when she saw with her eyes, but through a reflection they became white.
Not just her hands, the girl had colors she had never seen before.
She seemed full of life.
Wednesday immediately separated the existence of the girl in the water as a different being.
Because she never could seem this alive.
Squish!
Her thoughts were interrupted by a peculiar sound.
Suddenly her vision was blocked by a little spider.
"Homer?"
Her focus was redirected to the spider.
She slowly removed the spider from her face.
Both stared at each other.
Her emotionless eyes trembled again.
"Why are you here?"
She asked, concerned.
"You left Tuesday alone in that place?!"
She angrily shouted at the spider as if it had committed an unforgivable sin.
[#1/#2/#NaN Hide and Seek]
Her legs lost their balance, and her body fell to the ground.
When she came to, she saw her pet cowering in fear.
Her hands carefully approached her small spider—no, scorpion—with concern.
"Sorry, Nero. I was out of my mind for a moment."
She expressionlessly stroked him.
"I should go to sleep."
Her behavior was now unusual. Wednesday feared that she might have awakened some serious psychological condition.
She just walked to her room with blurred eyes.
Wednesday never looked at the girl reflected in the water again.
She went to her bedroom door.
Her hands stopped right above the doorknob.
Wait, was it okay to sleep now?
After her meal, she would train in swordsmanship with Uncle Fester and then study arts and ballet with her grandmother.
But today should be okay; her mother should be in the hospital giving birth.
And all her family followed her.
Yes, that was the case.
"..."
Wasn't her mother talking to her in perfect condition just minutes ago? Wasn't she pregnant?
Not even the smell of blood was present in her.
"This is strange."
The situation was different from what she remembered.
That wasn't the only strange thing.
She was supposed to be alone with her grandmother right now, but if she had died, how could she have memories of a future that hadn't happened yet with her in it?
[#1/#2/#NaN Hide and Seek]
The entire world was covered in black.
Black energy entered her brain reading all the information about her.
[Attempts: 55/∞]
Clinking-
The sound of spoons touching a plate welcomed her ears.
She stared at the woman eating with blurred eyes.
"I'm going to have a baby." Morticia announced, wiping her face with a tissue. "Right now."
They had been eating like any other day, so the black figure's words came as a complete surprise.
"It's an Addams!" exclaimed another black figure.
Wednesday tried to finish her meal, but she was already satisfied.
It was strange, she felt as if she had already eaten this food today.
"Lurch, make the preparations!" her father said.
The black figures walked together in a hurry.
Wednesday stared at them calmly.
A hand touched hers.
"Uncle Fester?"
"You won't be here alone, will you?"
Wednesday listened obediently to the words of her uncle.
Yes, how could she stay alone in the mansion without anyone?
Wednesday tightly held his hand.
A smile naturally appeared on her face.
An Addams would be born, she shouldn't stay here alone.
All the Addams moved in a hurry.
Leaving behind an empty mansion with no one in it.

[13 years later]
[Nevermore Academy, Principal's office, 09:35 AM]
"Wednesday? What a peculiar name!" said the principal with a kind voice.
"Her name was an inspiration from my favorite poem."
Morticia said, proudly.
"'Wednesday's child is full of Woe'."
"..."
The entire room became silent at her words.
"Even now, I can't comprehend how much wisdom can reside in a single woman."
"Oh, Gomez... You spoil me too much~"
Gomez looked at his wife with eyes full of love and wish.
He grabbed her hand tenderly with tempting eyes.
"And in the bed, her wisdom seems even more present."
Both faces slowly approached each other ignoring all the eyes around.
"Did you think so?"
She said, with expectation.
"I'm not sure about it right now..." Their breaths touched each other necks. "Can you show it to me?"
The lips seemed to approach-
"Enough."
Black energy froze them in place.
"Go to the point."
Her words were cold and straight.
Wednesday didn't want to stay not even a single minute more there.
"Okay, let me see." said the principal, carefully examining a piece of paper.
It was Wednesday's history with all her complaints and grades.
"Eight schools in five years."
Her first words made Morticia and Gomez's faces worried.
"Nine reports of attempted murder".
Morticia and Gomez held each other hands hopelessly.
"An unusual time in the middle of the year."
Wednesday didn't show any reaction to her words.
It was all true after all and she wasn't hiding it from anyone.
"But..." said the principal, building suspense.
Her parents looked at her with expectation.
"I can't deny her perfect grades."
Morticia covered her mouth with her hand, touched by her friend's words.
"And the history of the kids who reported it wasn't as 'clean' as they claimed."
"Larissa...!"
"We usually don't accept students in the middle of the year, but considering that both her parents had a close connection with Nevermore and her perfect grades... Nevermore has no reason to reject her."
"Did you listen to it, Tish? Our kid will be accepted on Nevermore."
Gomez hugged Morticia warmly.
"Just like us. As you always wished."
Listening to her father's words Wednesday's face frowned.
Again she needed to endure another stupid school.

"This is your new roommate."
In front of her, a strange being moved her body with anxiety.
Her breath seemed faster than a normal human's and her hands shocked showing her emotions.
She seemed the kind of person who vomits rainbows openly.
"Nice to meet you! My name is Enid!!"
This thing seemed to approach trying to hug her.
Tap.
Wednesday immediately took a step back.
"Ah, not into hugs? I got it!"
She said stopping her arms.
Enid analyzed her entire body and expressions.
"You're so black..."
"Wednesday has an allergy to color, the school needed to provide a special uniform to her."
"Allergy to color?! What happens to you..?"
"My skin could completely disintegrate and my eyes could pop out of my body."
Enid's body trembled without signs to stop.
The thought she could be lying did not even pass through her mind.
What kind of person could lie with such a serious face?
"You should stay away from me. Otherwise, you can become a criminal."
"I-I..."
"How sad your parents would be having an even more disastrous child who killed her roommate?"
"!"
Enid covered her mouth in shock. She was a werewolf who couldn't transform and was already a concern to her parents.
What if she became a criminal?
She would be a complete lost cause.
Tears fell from her face.
"Why are you crying?"
Wednesday stared at her with strange eyes.
"How hard it must have been..."
Sniff
"?"
"I thought you were just weird, but I never thought you had a reason to be like that. An expressionless face to avoid others and your kind advice worried more about me than yourself."
Tears fell pitifully on the ground.
The flow wasn't happening as she initially planned.
"Please... Be my BFF! (Best friend forever)"
Wednesday's face frowned at her words.
Enid approached dangerously again as if she had forgotten all her previous words.
Dark energy enveloped her body before she touched her.
"I want to change rooms."
She said to the principal.
The woman just stared at her in a neutral posture.
"This would be difficult, if not impossible. Ophelia Hall Dorm is the last empty one."
Her words made Wednesday's face frown even more.
Before her, Enid was still trying to reach her body in tears, out of her mind.
Should she share a room with "it"?
Clok- Clok-
The sound of an alarm came from the principal's watch.
"Ah, I gotta go. I hope you two have a good time together."
Creek.
The door was closed leaving her alone with the stupid dog.
*
"Listen, stupid dog."
She said with a strict face.
"Stupid dog...? Are we already exchanging nicknames?! This is so much like the things BFFs do!"
"Shut up."
Her words were cut by cold and insensible words.
"This is my side."
Wednesday pointed to the tape perfectly separating the room in half.
"As this is my side, keep your trash away from mine."
"Trash?"
Dark energy enveloped the window removing half of the color from it.
At the same time, several items were levitated in the air.
"Ah!"
Wednesday threw all the items in the poor Enid without caring about her.
"Yes, trash."
Her words had no mercy or kindness. They were as cold as her face.
"But... We are BFFs...!"
She said with incomprehensible eyes.
"You are misunderstanding something, stupid dog."
"Misunderstanding?"
"I am not your friend. I also am not your roommate. I am not even a student of this stupid school."
"What?"
"This will be the first and last time we meet. I'm going to escape from this penitentiary."
Enid stared at her in incomprehension. Her perception of her BFF was changing in real time.
"So, don't approach me, don't touch my things, and don't talk to me."
The entire room seemed to tremble, as Enid's heart.
"We will never be friends."
Crack!
Enid felt something was breaking.
If she paid attention she would notice it was the lamp of her room.
But she misinterpreted the sound as her heartstrings.
"Okay..."
This time her voice was small and almost nonexistent.
Completely different from her first impression.
*
The next day Wednesday put her words into practice.
She would escape this penitentiary full of disgusting adolescents and dreamless adults.
She easily escaped through the back door.
Nevermore was built inside a dense forest so almost no one explored the back of it.
The environment seemed scary and dangerous, but the sight just made her feel at home.
"Beautiful."
She walked slowly in the dangerous forest.
Flash-
A strange sound came from the bushes.
The strange sound made Wednesday's survival instincts sharp.
By the sound, it wasn't a small creature.
It was big, fast and strong.
It wasn't a bear, Wednesday had hibernated with bears before while she trained with Uncle Fester.
'Unknown.'
She couldn't classify the creature by its sound.
Flesh-!
The sound was near.
The fact that the creature approached instead of distancing itself displayed the behavior of a predator.
It was probably hostile to humans.
And she was the only human in the entire forest.
"What a lucky day."
She said, her face still emotionless even with a clear risk to her life.
It wasn't the first time she fought for her life.
"Ruwar..."
An androgynous roar.
Analyzing its characteristics it was next to that of a human.
But the movements seemed anything but human.
Flesh-
For a brief movement, Wednesday saw a big colored figure.
A color different from the usual black. Something she could see just staring at "her" in the mirror.
Why did it have a color?
She was intrigued, curiosity filled her eyes even in the dangerous situation.
"Ruwar!!"
A sound came behind her.
Dark energy immediately covered the creature's body
A grotesque humanoid hand stopped just before touching her body.
Wednesday looked at the creature with wide eyes.
Big face, disproportionate limbs, and spine.
The creature was full of peculiar characteristics.
But the most evident to her was one.
"Red."
The creature was entirely red. It was strange Wednesday was able to recognize red.
The creature also seemed familiar to her.
As if it wasn't the first time they met.
"You... I know you."
Her hand touched its face.
"You are-"
[#1/#2/#NaN Hide and Seek]
The world was completely covered in black.
She felt something trying to invade her brain.
She desperately tried to resist.
"Ugh-"
Her brain started to hurt, and black blood came from her nose.
After a while of resisting the immense pain, Wednesday tried to face the creature again.
"Where?"
There wasn't anything there.
Why? She was sure something was there right now.
She even touched it with her hands.
Wednesday looked at her hands.
They were as black as her entire world.
"This strange feeling again."
It wasn't the first time things seemed "out of place" to her.
She always felt like her world was wrong.
She tried not to show it on her face, but a worry was always present in her mind.
"I shouldn't stay here."
Her instincts were telling her that she shouldn't stay there.
A feeling she had even inside her home.
"And..."
Wednesday tried to translate her feelings into words.
"I shouldn't stay alone"
At her words, the world seemed to stop for a moment.
But it was just for a brief moment.
"Thinking about it won't resolve anything."
Wednesday focused on the task she had to do.
She would escape from Nevermore.
Grab.
Before she was able to apply her plan a hand carefully touched her shoulder.
She quickly looked back.
A familiar black figure was there.
Wednesday didn't hear her footsteps. She appeared as if by magic.
Before Wednesday could ask how the principal was there the words of the other part were told first.
"What is our precious student doing at this time, in the middle of the forest?"
The principal's hand gripped her shoulder tightly.
"..."
Wednesday was left speechless.
Tomorrow, she would probably be seen as the girl who was caught by the principal trying to escape.
I know plenty of readers will still be confused in the chapter even after the note at the beginning and all the additional elements. But there is nothing I can do about it. This is my third try, I tried my best ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ.
