FOUR: Marriage Offer 2

Carol turned down Marcus' offer, of course, but the man gave her time to think, and Carol took it. Two days ago, she adopted a kitten. I went to buy a cat sleeping pillow, a necklace, and many things for the cat. Also, she wanted to buy avocado ice cream to stock up at home.

Now that she was inside the big supermarket buying avocados and ice cream, her routine had become more extreme since her engagement with Jeremy broke off. Carol pushed her trolley, walking, watching the shelves she passed while hearing the people around her talking to each other.

Just as she passed the soap section, she heard someone say Jeremy's name.

"I don't need this, Jeremy! You know I don't like this soap; I prefer soap that smells soft!" Someone's voice sounded annoyed to make him stop walking.

"That's it, I still can't buy you a luxury brand soap. After I get promoted, you can use it again," replied the man who was called by the name Jeremy.

That name, why was she always so sensitive? It could have been another man's name, but curiosity made her turn her head slowly. There, a tall woman was seen with the figure of a man she recognized. She felt the pain again; Jeremy looked up to meet her gaze.

The two looked before Paula turned to Carol, no, more precisely to the woman in front of her who was just as curious, "Stop staring at my future husband like a bitch!!" Paula said sarcastically, making Jeremy quite surprised.

"Paula, don't be rude. Now that you're pregnant, watch your words," Jeremy scolded while rubbing Paula's flat stomach in front of Carol, who regretted her decision to come to the supermarket.

"Blame her for looking at you without blinking!!" said Paula, who did not accept being reprimanded.

"Yes, yes. Whatever, I still love you no matter what."

"You, man!!" answered Paula in a shy tone.

Damn it!

Carol turned around quickly, leaving her shopping cart. She didn't want to continue to see the cheating couple arguing. While walking fast from the supermarket towards the parking lot, Carol opened her purse to take out her cell phone. She needed someone right now; her breath was ragged, and she suddenly had anxiety. Her chest was tight and painful, and Jeremy looked fine after breaking up with her.

"Damn it! Just yesterday, he said he loves me; hahaha!"

That jerk man was even waiting for the birth of his child above the sorrow she was feeling!! Jeremy didn't even care about her feelings; he said he was never satisfied with one woman but married Paula. It was just an excuse full of nonsense; that man was an irresponsible bastard indeed.

The incoming phone line connected with the contact she dialed without a long wait. Carol spoke angrily with a flood of emotions mixed into one.

"I accept your offer!! I accept it!!" she said without holding back her tears.

.....

Without waiting for a long time, two weeks later, Jeremy and Paula's wedding preceded. Carol got married to Marcus, which shocked everyone at first but was soon dampened when Sergey intervened and believed that this marriage was the will of both of them without any other elements.

She was in the dressing room with two women who had just finished their task of dressing her beautifully on this special day. A bit impulsive, Carol didn't regret it because Jeremy had asked to meet her two days later and had questioned her marriage with disapproval.

That day, Carol felt satisfied; Jeremy still had feelings for her too. So she wanted to carry out this revenge while helping Marcus get her inheritance; she wouldn't let Jeremy be happy alone.

"Carol, you still love me, but why are you marrying Marcus instead!" was the first sentence that Jeremy said at their last meeting before his current wedding day. "Stop hurting yourself like this; you still love me. You shouldn't love another man—"

"—Then I have to keep loving a jerk like you?!" asked Carol sarcastically two days ago when she ran into Jeremy, who was talking nonsense about his marriage. Carol laughed out loud in front of her ex-fiancé, seeing the look on his face that he didn't accept her question. "We're done, and you don't deserve to judge and ask me not to marry Marcus; that's up to me and not you!"

"Are you ready?" asked Sergey, bringing Carol's consciousness back to the real world. This time, she looked at her father's figure from the mirror's reflection.

.....

Carol saw Jeremy there; he looked back at her, standing at the end of the crowd holding his glass of champagne. But she didn't care and looked away to see Marcus, who smiled very handsomely, unconsciously her hand pointing to his dimples.

Marcus turned to her, "Why?"

"I just realized how handsome you are." While glancing at Jeremy's current position, he answered with a crisp, purposeful laugh; it seemed to manage to irritate her. Unfortunately, it didn't make her happy because she had to be silent due to Marcus's brief kiss on the lips.

"Wow! Wow, guys!! Marcus seems impatient and doesn't even hold back in front of us friends. Ewww!! Where's that 'friend' status that you often emphasize?" asked David in a mocking tone which was answered by the laughter of his friends; he was so embarrassed.

"Why are you embarrassed? We are married. It's natural to kiss." Marcus replied when he saw Carol hugging his arm to cover her blushing face even though her eyes were still searching for Jeremy's whereabouts which surprised her again.

Jeremy was standing there kissing Paula!

Marcus followed the direction of his wife's gaze and saw two lovebirds there; he smiled and cupped Carol's face, which was already teary.

"This marriage exists because they don't look sad on this happy day. You can reply through me," Marcus said before biting her lips.

Cheers rang in her ears as Marcus kept biting her lips, asking for them to open and sneaking in to tease her tongue. His hands pulled her closer to him; she thought this man was good at it.

"DAMN! Remember, we're still here. Oh, shit! How long have you two been kissing?" Kath's voice rebuked Marcus, but the man pressed the back of his neck as he wanted to get away.

"Never mind, honey. They're newlyweds, so let it be," Omer pulled his wife's waist closer.

But Marcus had other intentions when he kissed her more intensely and deeply than Jeremy. The man was already walking away, pushing a few people out of the way; he could see it from the corner of his eye.

Jeremy arrived at her side, and without waiting, he pushed her body away from being hit by his brother's hand.

"FUCK YOU!"

His body fell to the floor with a bang, followed by Jeremy's body which gave a right punch to his cheekbone. The man became even angrier when he saw Marcus smirk. David and Omer immediately pulled Jeremy's body away from him, seeing how battered his face was.

"Let me go!" shouted Jeremy, who did not accept being held by two people called Carles.

"TAKE THAT CHILD AWAY FROM HERE!" shouted someone who took some attention, seeing Carles scream amid the commotion that became quiet in an instant. "Are you okay?" She asked Marcus, who Omer lifted to stand up.

"Well... maybe my jaw shifted, but it's all good," Marcus replied, looking back into his father's appraising eyes.

His eyes then moved to the back of his son's body. "Call the family doctor here!" After speaking like that, Carles turned to leave. Sasha held her son's shoulder and looked at his bloody face while crying.

"Geez! Darling, you're bleeding!" Her hands trembled when she wanted to touch her son's face.

"It's okay. Dad called the doctor for me."

"That damn kid! He must be taught a lesson for beating my son!"

Marcus stopped his mother from leaving. "No need. I'm fine. Don't get mom in trouble by confronting dad." He said he didn't want Sasha to face Cales and cry again.

"But he made you hurt on your wedding day, son..."

"It's okay. I'm more worried about mom if I face dad alone." He said as he pulled his mother into a hug before looking up to see his friends' faces, instead grinning happily at the situation.

"You will regret your tricks, Marcus. We will wait for the results tomorrow." Said David, who was nodded by Kath, Omer, Maria, and Nora.
