"What?" Maria asked, getting confused. 

"I think she has to see for herself," Zaraki said to Jin from behind. Maria thought hard about what could be the problem as Jin and Zaraki made way for her to pass through, while Captain Mako remained where he was, searching for his atlas. 

Maria passed both of them and got past the door of the office. Every one of her people had formed a semi-circle, with a chest on the ground in the midst of them. 

"It had your name on it, Your Majesty," Zaraki said from behind. 

Maria wondered for a second why they didn't bring it to her if that was true, instead of calling her out to "see for herself," until she found a red fluid flowing from the chest as it was lying sideways. 

"It was dropped by some sort of bird, which took off immediately after it landed on the deck," Rukia said from beside her.
