Betsy Russell followed beside Jared Hughes, her gaze fixed intently on the stairs. She swore this was the most challenging stairway she had ever climbed.
She could only clearly see the two or three steps right under her feet. Though the snow on the steps had been cleared, it was swiftly blanketed by the heavy snow again.
It's always easier to go up the mountain than to come back down.
