I feel depleted inside, worn out, like I’m a middleweight fighter who just lost a championship title. I’ve just taken hit after hit after hit from him. A knockout. I’m down for the count. He’s won the title.

Darsey is right. Cliff loves him. It’s obvious. No. It’s more than obvious. It might even be considered earth-shaking and bottomless. But it’s one sided. Darsey doesn’t feel the same way for Cliff, though. This visit from Cliff is more than two punches in the face. It’s more than a cry for help. Truth is, it seems so basic, but it’s not. Darsey isn’t in love with Cliff, and probably never will be. Love cannot be forced. Cliff maybe hasn’t fully grasped this yet. It makes me feel bad for him.
