In the lobby of his dormitory, Edward was waking up. Through the blurriness, he recognized the familiar surroundings, but he clung to the hope that it was all a dream. As his vision sharpened and the pain in his body intensified, he gradually understood that this was no dream.
How did he end up here? Edward wondered. Just a couple of minutes ago, he had been cornered by Brandon, who was threatening to reveal the truth. Now, inexplicably, he found himself back in the lobby of the dormitory, where he had started.
The hero... it suddenly struck Edward. Someone had rescued him from Brandon's tight grip and brought him here. He remembered a powerful swishing sound, like a blaze, that overwhelmed him and made him faint. He must have been too exhausted to keep his eyes open, which explained why he had collapsed. "I am going to find out who that person was," Edward mumbled, "and thank him." As he tried to stand up, he felt a soreness spread across his body.
