You Give Really Good Advice

Claire had been surprised to say the least when someone Alex knew from work assumed that Ethan was their son but she figured there must be some sort of bizarre reasoning behind it. She didn't want to accuse him of being a liar in front of a client so she went along with it.

Of course it ended up being something perfectly explainable. It was reasonable to assume that the woman from someone's phone background was a significant other but the truth was that Alex didn't have that many friends. As his closest it made sense that she was the one on there. They did take the most pictures together out of everyone else he knew. 

She was perfectly fine with letting the matter drop but then he went and explained himself further. For some reason it made her heart drop. But why?
