Wait, don’t cook that!

The next morning, I wasn't tired at all even though I had lost track of time playing around with my newfound cultivation.

It was like a kid who had gained a new toy as I played around with my powers until it was morning.

So in the end, I barely got any sleep before the system woke me up with some notifications.

"Side missions have been unlocked. Please wait for the next main mission to be released."

I was surprised to hear this, but side missions were always welcome.

After all, side missions meant more rewards from the system!

There wasn't a single reward from the system that was considered bad so far, so of course I would be happy to do these side missions.

But when I saw them, I couldn't help revealing a strange look.

"System? What are these side missions?"

The system just calmly said, "The system had detected those following the host. The host is a godly prodigal, how can you not take care of your own people? As such, the system has released missions to help the host take care of these people."

I still had a strange look on my face, but I slowly accepted the good intentions of the system.

After all, these missions did address a few of the concerns that I had.

"Find a way to protect the host's little sister, Lin Li Zi."

"Find a way to raise the combat power of the host's lackeys. 0/8 complete."

Since they were my people, naturally I would protect them.

But there was one mission that was a bit hard for me to complete.

"Find a way to help the host's master, Liu Ao Xue breakthrough the threshold that she is currently stuck with."

I had no idea what kind of problem my master was even facing, not to mention…she was at a much higher level of cultivation in the first place. So it wasn't as if I would be able to help her even if I wanted to.

Still, since this was a mission that was given by the host, there must be some way for me to complete this.

After all, the system would never give me a mission that couldn't be completed…

"System, do you have any suggestions on how I should go about finishing these missions?"

Though I didn't really have any expectations, I was suddenly caught off guard when the system said, "A bodyguard candidate for the host's little sister has been found. Please secure this candidate before it is lost forever."

"Huh?" A shocked look appeared on my face when I heard this before quickly opening up the new prompt that the system had given me.

I found that it was a map.

It had two dots on it, one that showed where I was and one that showed where the bodyguard candidate that the system had mentioned was.

Seeing this, I didn't hesitate to run out of my courtyard to find this bodyguard candidate.

But since I rushed out, I made a large commotion that caught the attention of Lin Li Zi and the lackeys.

"Big brother, where are you going?"

"Young master, what's happening?"

I could hear them calling out to me from behind, but I just ignored them as I followed the system's map.

In no time at all, I arrived at a place that seemed like some kind of dormitory.

This didn't seem like a place for outer sect disciples, but rather a place for chore disciples.

Could it be that the bodyguard candidate was a chore disciple whose talent was missed by the elders and was assigned to be a chore disciple?

If that was the case, would he become a main character in the end and then take my little sister as his lover?

If it really turned out to be that way, then I would just ignore this suggestion from the system and give up this bodyguard.

For now, I followed the map until I arrived under a tree.

Sitting under that tree were three chore disciples who were surrounding a fire. In the hand of one of the disciples, there seemed to be a cage that had something in it.

When I looked more closely, I found that it was a rabbit in a cage.

"Let's cook it already. I'm already starving."

"Humph, who was the one that caught this rabbit in the first place? You aren't even showing your gratitude."

"Now, now, don't be angry. Let's just relax and have a nice meal."

It seemed like the three of them were planning on cooking the rabbit that they were holding in the cage.

As I looked at the three of them, I asked the system, "Which one of them is it? This bodyguard candidate that you mentioned?"

After all, the map was just too general for me to figure out which one of them it was.

The system was silent for a few seconds before saying with a sigh, "Host, please take a look at the cage."

I was confused when the system said this, but then I slowly realized what it meant as I looked at the rabbit inside of the cage.

"You mean the rabbit? It's the bodyguard?"

"Affirmative, host. Please secure it before it is eaten."

I snapped back to attention when I heard this and I realized that they had already taken the rabbit out of the cage. One of them was holding the rabbit while the others brought a knife over to kill it.

Without any hesitation, I ran over and said, "Wait! Wait! Don't cook that rabbit!"

All three of the chore disciples were surprised when they heard this, but then they turned to look at me with a surprised look.

It was clear that they didn't recognize me, but they were wary because of the core sect disciple robe that Elder Tian had given me yesterday.

As I ran over, I said, "Let me buy that rabbit from you."

All three of them looked at me with confused looks when they heard this.
