Chapter 51

"Golden Desert, we've arrived!" Ron sensed the increasing temperature in the surroundings. It had risen by at least twenty degrees since the earlier rain. His high physical stats made the rise in temperature inconsequential to him.

For the rest of the group, however, the sudden change in temperature was discomforting. The Grand Canyon Margaret's erratic climate was well-known, and its extreme conditions posed a challenge to any traveler.

The leading Seated Lupin Wolf howled, and others followed. Whether it was out of excitement or warning, it was unclear. Ron observed that the fur of the Seated Lupin Wolves began to change due to the rising temperature. Their black fur turned to pale white and then to ice blue. This transformation provided a refreshing coolness, even utilizing a touch of Ice element energy particles.

The Seated Lupin Wolves proved to be the best creatures for traversing the Great Canyon Margaret. Their icy breath and fur helped adapt to the harsh desert terrain.

As the six icy-blue wolves ventured further into the Golden Desert, Ron felt relieved that his physical endurance allowed him to tolerate the oppressive heat.

The Golden Desert was ten times more dangerous than the Limestone Wasteland, and danger lurked everywhere. Ron detected numerous dangerous creatures in the vicinity, including Six-Eyed Poison Snakes, Golden Scorpions, and Toxic Compound Eye Lizards. The environment was unforgiving, and the Magi in the group were constantly alert.

The temperature fluctuated dramatically during the day, and as night fell, the Seated Lupin Wolves reverted to their black fur to store heat.

Lancey, exhausted from using her spiritual force during the day, went to rest and meditate in her tent. Ron, who had the A.I. Chip to assist him, appeared fatigued, mirroring his knights' facade.

One of the official Magi in the group volunteered to take the night watch. Ron approached him, keeping his servants in the background.

The Magus summoned Sentinel Slates, small stone slate creatures that could act as a warning and perform various tasks. These Sentinel Slates had undergone modifications and were a valuable asset to the Magus on night duty.

Ron admired the Sentinel Slates and showed appreciation for their remarkable spell, fostering a favorable impression from the night guard Magus.

The night watch began, and the Sentinel Slates took their positions outside the camp. However, during the night, Ron was awakened by an ear-piercing scream. His eyes, with vertical slit pupils like a snake, snapped open.

"Hurry, get up. We have trouble!" The night guard Magus rushed into the tents with a grave expression.

Lancey, disturbed from her sleep, appeared concerned. Despite her partially revealed figure, no one paid any attention. She asked, "What happened?"
