Warhammer: Rogue Trader CYOA Story

=== Author: gothicjedi666 === *Disclaimer* I really liked this fanfiction so I wanted to put it here for easier reading, everything belongs to the original creator. If the original creator wants to take it down, pls leave a review below. This is where I read it- https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13854108/1/Rogue-Trader-CYOA-Story-1 === Synopsis: I've been asked a few times by reviewers to do a Warhammer 40k story, but it's not a universe I wish to find myself stuck in for any length of time, so I used the Rogue Trader CYOA to come up with a setup that could lead to a ship and people from the 40k universe going to more sane dimensions thanks to a special Dark Age of Technology drive. This drive was created shortly before the AI rebellion and the Warp Storms screwed over the most advanced human civilization that the universe ever knew. It allows the captain of the ship to go anywhere he can envision using some psyker power and cool tech that messes with the Warp. The SI has psykers powers that he doesn't know much about due to Inquisition's meddling, an IOM light cruiser which might as well be unstoppable in some science fiction universes, a Guard Regiment of veteran soldiers who will obey the SI's orders and a warrant telling him that he can pretty much do as he pleases outside of the IOM. No one in the IOM will try to stop him even if they could as long as he brings back nice stuff for the forge world that supports him and cooperates with his allies. He will have to return to the 40k universe for resupply and repair work, but that risk is manageable. Due to his rank, he has a lot more leeway when it comes to dealing with aliens than most IOM humans so he doesn't need to kill all the non-humans as long as he isn't seen to get too friendly with them. He has a battle harem, but they don't have real personalities they are more like bodyguards who can also serve as eye candy. So he might as well recruit skilled females for his crew or clone them if he doesn't mind waiting. He'll also need a few wives to provide him with heirs. Rogue Traders will often gather an entourage of hangers-on and companions, and this may contain alien warriors, mutants, and other undesirables who would normally be unacceptable in polite Imperial society, as such he has options for companions. He can fight in wars, go after space pirates, destroy entire hostile Xenos races, and save humans. He can plunder whole worlds just to make a profit. He just needs to keep his coffers full and bring back some shiny stuff. Should he bring back enough to appease the forge-world and impress his allies I'll give the SI more fun toys taken from the CYOA and maybe even a more powerful starship. Can't say that I'm happy with this first couple of chapters, but they do contain a lot of information that explains who and what Rogue Traders are, as what the Imperials will do, and the story will get more entertaining I promise. Please share some ideas with me either here or on my patron where I am also Gothicjedi666. I post draft chapters on that site you might not have seen here and I don't have many supporters even though I have lots of people reading my stories. To those that do support my writing, I want to say a quick thank you.

Chapter One Hundred And Thirty-Five

Horizon Colony. Lera System.

Jack was having a blast. Finally her boss had let her off the leash so that she could do what she did best, which was make a mess of things. These Collectors fuckers were tough, but the laser weapons made quick work of them and most of the aliens didn't seem to worry about cover or suppressive fire, it was as if they didn't care if they died.

There was now a lull in fighting so Subject Zero took a moment to down some energy drink and a quick snack and using biotics really used up the calories, there was no such thing as an overweight botic, well at least Jack had never heard of one.

It was only because they'd stopped that Jack found something interesting that didn't involve killing aliens.

"Samantha, are you crazy?" she heard someone whisper loudly "Those things will hear us!".

Jack stepped into what seemed to be some sort of garage.

"We're here to help!" she called out.

From behind a console she could hear the shuffling of something, and then she saw a handgun, but it wasn't pointed at anyone, the person holding it was more of a danger to themselves than Jack or her team.

"Samantha Traynor" the woman said "I'm Specialist Samantha Traynor I mean. I'm visiting my parents".

Had Jack ever played Mass Effect 3 and if she the biotic would not have bothered to pay much attention, as such she wouldn't know that Specialist Samantha Traynor was the Comm Specialist aboard the Alliance Normandy SR-2, in ME3. She would be there serving in a similar role to that of her predecessor, Yeoman Kelly Chambers. Also she was a potential romance option for a female Shepard.

"Hey" Subject Zero replied "I'm here because my boss wants these aliens to die".

No one spoke for a moment.

"Who was talking to you?" one of the battle harem members asked.

Miss Traynor pointed to a dark corner.

"He's a colonist" she said "And I don't think he's coming out. Not that it matters. We don't know what's going on, except that the colony's under attack".

Jack didn't think either of these people were cowards, if anything she admired how smart they were to hide, everyone else had probably run around like a headless chickens when the aliens turned up.

"Anyone injured" Subject Zero.

She didn't actually care but her boss wanted her to pretend so as to help win over the colony.

"Yeah, we're fine," a man replied as he came out of hiding. "I was working in here when I heard the screaming, and Sam rushed in before I closed the door."

On what he had been working on he didn't say. Not that it mattered right now.

"I told you to keep quiet, what if these guys had been the slavers we heard earlier?" accused the man.

Jack wondered how could anyone have seen the Collector ship in the sky and the swarms and then come to the conclusion that this was a normal kind of raid?

"They aren't slavers," Jack explained "They're Collectors".

That got her some puzzled looks.

"They're this race of insectoid bad guys" she explained "They've been attacking human colonies, and taking everybody they can carry off somewhere. They're the ones behind the attack on Freedom's Progress, and some other places, we got intel that they were attacking this place next so we came to stop them".

Traynor seemed less surprised than the man she'd been hiding with.

"So that's why the Alliance had the Gardian lasers setup" she said.

07, one of the battle harem members, asked about that.

"The Alliance came in to set up some defences" the male colonist told us "They had some fancy Alliance officer here and a few techs, Williams her name is. She was outside when those bugs started attacking. She told me to run, and I did".

That wasn't a concern for her team; the Imperials had more than enough fire power.

"Okay we're heading out" said Jack, who by now felt somewhat recharged "You guys keep hiding while we go be heroes".

Subject Zero never thought she'd find herself doing something that she'd consider heroic and yet here she was.
