Decision

Noon, June, the year 2042,

West Asia, War_zone_34, sector 1, SUF base#34

After coming back from the mission last night Maya immediately had the girl treated. She was still unconscious so Maya decided to clean herself from the mission and report to her superiors.

After reporting everything she went to the base's medical room. The little girl was still unconscious. Maya went to a female military doctor assigned to the child.

"How is her condition," She asked.

"I'm not sure, I'm still waiting for test results. Major" Said the doctor, while saluting.

"How long do I have to wait for the results?? And tell me what you know currently" Said Maya coldly.

"The results will come in about an hour. Her current condition is stable there is no risk of death, but her body is covered in scars and wounds. I checked and many of her scars weren't treated properly and there were signs of badly treated bone fractures. I took her off her external wounds so there won't be any problems with them, they didn't seem very fresh as the wounds were already infected. For more, we have to wait for the test results." Doctor explained.

"Why hasn't she awoken yet."

"It is nothing serious, her body is just weak due to malnutrition and experiments."

"Good, I am going now. Inform me immediately when the results are out or when she wakes up."

"Yes, Major" the Military doctor saluted.

With that said Maya exited the medical room and went to freshen up as she is still covered with grime, blood, and filth from the mission.

After cleaning herself she was summoned by her direct superior.

Entering her superior office she greeted them while saluting.

"Major Maya Bergon, Reporting to General Filkorton"

"At ease, Major Bergon. Sit. We summoned you to talk about the child you found in the terrorist laboratory"

"I already reported everything beforehand, Sir"

"I know, I want to ask you for your opinion about what should we do with her after her condition gets better as you are the person who saved her and she will probably more comfortable with you than with some stranger"

"Can I be direct, Sir?"

"Yes"

"I want to take custody of her or directly adopt her. And with it Some time off to settle everything with her"

General eyes narrow.

"Are you sure? Becoming a mother, nonetheless a victim of the human experimentation is by no means easy." General said sternly.

"I know, but I had thought about it for the past few hours and even if I don't know if it is a good idea it is my decision to take care of her"

"Alright, I gave you permission for a vacation to settle paperwork and adoption documents. From now on she will be your responsibility. Now go I still have a lot of work to do"

"Yes, Sir" Maya saluted and exited an office.

After meeting with General, she checked the time and the test should be already out, she thought. At that moment helper from the medical room came to her informing her that the female doctor in charge of the little girl asked for Maya to come. With that, she went to the medical room to listen to tests results.
