MALLORY'S POV
After taking a refreshing bath, I tied a bathrobe and started scanning through the wardrobe. I heard a knock at the door. I hurried to get it and found Damien there. I rolled my eyes while he leaned into the doorframe. His eyes scanned me up and down with a blank expression. I met his gaze and crossed my arms over my chest just to show him I'm not intimidated or anything.
"Mallory..."
The way my name rolled out of his tongue made my insides to do somersaults.
"What do you want?"
I tried making my voice sound cold but I failed woefully.
"I wanted to apologize for calling you a whore. I'm sorry."
His expression didn't look the least bit sorry. I bit my tongue hard trying not to answer back, instead I just nodded. He smirked.
"Thanks."
He said but didn't make any attempt to leave and I didn't make any attempt to shut the door either. We just kinda stared at each other. His eyes drifted from my eyes to my lips and finally settled on on my lips. For just a moment there, I felt something pass between us but he blinked and tilted his head.
"You have to join Damon and I for a mission tomorrow. It's with a business partner. Damon just told me to inform you."
I gave out a single nod. He flashed a grin and cast a quick glance over me then left.
Immediately he turned around, I closed the door and let out a breath I hadn't realized I was holding.
*Damien, Damon all crazy.*
NEXT DAY
MALLORY'S POV
I came downstairs and met the twins at the breakfast table. Damon smiled when he spotted me while Damien diverted his gaze towards something else. Damon motioned for me to join them. No one sat at the head of the table, I'm guessing this was something agreed on. I took a seat close to Damon.
"Good morning pumpkin. Hope you slept well."
I grinned at Damon. A maid helped me with a plate which I put some pancakes on with maple syrup.
"So Damien told you about our meeting tonight?"
Damon asked while forking some bacon and shoving into his mouth.
"Yeah."
I answered while sparring a quick glance at Damien. He was sipping his coffee as he looked outside.
"You have to be prepared, I hope Wicked taught you well."
"Are you doubting him?"
I teased and Damon grinned mischievously.
"I'm not saying he is incapable or anything. It's just saying he is not as talented as I am."
I let out a little laugh.
"Yeah right."
After breakfast, I looked around the house. It was all big and impressive but lacked something I couldn't put my finger on. I spent the whole day idling about till it was time for our mission.
I looked at myself in the mirror. I was dressed in all black and admired my reflection. The clothes Damon set aside for me were beautiful. The amazing black gown which had a split up till my thigh was covered in ice which drew floral patterns. I did my makeup myself and blew out my hair. I had a knock at the door and rearranged my dress before answering it.
I found Lana starring at me. She lead me down stairs where the twins were waiting. They were dressed similarly but Damon's tux was white while Damien's was black. They looked great. I noticed how Damien's gaze raked over my body. I felt my breath hitch in my throat.
"Let's go now."
We took three different lexus jeeps. Damon said it's for the ambiance. When we arrived the restaurant, guards came to open my car door for me. I stepped out and fell in step behind the twins. We got in and the receptionist lead us to our table. I sat between the twins. My gaze kept locking with Damien's and I quickly looked away. I heard him chuckle before staring at the menu.
"Sorry I'm late."
I heard someone say from behind me and I turn to see a tall lanky guy with a cigarette between his lips. He was wearing a shirt which sleeves were rolled up displaying his tattoos. His black hair was gelled and sleeked back.
"Don't stress yourself about it, we just got here."
The guy sat down and he immediately looked at me. I stared straight at him. He smirked and leaned into his chair not breaking eye contact.
"And who is this?"
He asked while breathing out a small cloud of smoke.
"New business partner, Mallory."
Damon said abruptly.
"I see... Nice to meet you Mallory. I'm Honey."
Honey said. I gave him a simple nod.
"Why did you call us here?"
Damien asked with a hint of impatience in his voice.
"Master, the reason I called you two here today is for my payment. You too have been playing way out of the cards lately. The shipments at the Mexican boarder were very successful yet I didn't get any payment."
Now it was Damien who laughed and leaned into his chair. Honey looked pissed.
"You don't have any shares in the dealings at the Mexican boarder."
Damon threw in sourly. Honey clenched his jaw.
"Padrone, I have always respected you and the master. Why would you suddenly cut me out of the dealings?"
Honey tried sounding polite but it wasn't working with the rage emanating from him.
"Come on man. We all know you are a back stabber. You expect us to fucking trust you again?"
Honey took in a deep breath and shifted his eyes between the twins.
"How about we have this conversation in a more private location?"
Honey seemed to have already composed him self.
"You really think we are dumb huh?"
Damien said while refilling his glass of whiskey. Honey closed his eyes for a few seconds. When he opened them, he had a masked expression on.
"What do you mean master?"
"Look here Honey, you planned the place and time of our meeting. Chances are, you are planning something and there are people here watching us."
Damien said not shifting his eyes from Honey even for a second. I turned around and noticed two people staring at us. One was a girl who looked a lot like Honey and the other was a guy with blue eyes. They were staring at us.
When they noticed my gaze on them, they pretended to have a sweet couple chat. I diverted my attention back to the conversation on the table.
"Call your friends over."
Damon said.
"There is no one here with me."
Honey still tried defending himself even when his cover was completely blown.
"Quit playing Honey."
Damien sighed looking really bored. Without warning, Honey stood up and grabbed me. He yanked me to my feet. I tried using the skills Wicked taught me but his gun was pressed against my stomach as he pulled me into his chest. He flipped in a way which I was backing him. The head of the gun dug into my back.
" Let's not go there."
Damon said as he stood up. Honey shot the chain which held the chandelier in place causing it to shatter. The people there started running out till the place was almost empty.
"Boss H the cops will be here anytime soon."
The man who was watching us said.
"We better not waste time then."
Honey pressed the gun forward. I arched my back.
"Hold still or else."
Honey warned. I squeezed my eyes shut.
*No, I can't die now. I haven't avenged mom yet, I haven't even gotten to kill Diablo.*
"Just do it already."
Damien said. We all turned to him.
*This seriously isn't the time.*
"You both should listen to me. I wasn't planning on betraying you two."
"Yet look where we are."
Damien stated dryly.
"Honey."
I said softly I felt him still behind me. He flipped me causing me to face him. He had a feral grin on.
"You could call my name like that under my sheets."
My eyes widened. Before I could offer a response, Honey fell down to the floor. That was when I noticed his bleeding knee. I quickly grabbed his gun and pointed it at him. I didn't realize when the guy and the girl were both down. I looked at Damon about to comment when I found the silencer on his gun.
"Good thinking."
I heard Damien sigh while still sipping his whiskey.
"Why did you have to react?"
