Chapter 2 Your Scent

(Leila's Point of View)

A day before my seventeenth birthday, I was moved into the main castle .

I was surprised at first when suddenly many maids and Knights surrounded my tower and ordered me to come with them in the main castle.

They were taken aback by the fact that I was the only person living in the tower .

I make sure to make it look like I have been living here alone since I was ten and was confined here.

It was hard to believe but nothing unbelievable.

Since, I was just an abandoned Princess, who was secrificed in order to sign the treaty .

They pitied me and it was written on their faces .

Some of them looked at me as a burden and acted the same way towards me .

What good will it do to them, serving a princess that will be neglected for the rest of her life .

The arrange marriage between me and Emperor Lev was not even the center of attention.

Only few in the castle knew about our marriage that will be held tomorrow.

I moved to the main without making a fuss or anything and just acted obedient.

The moment I stepped in , grief filled my whole heart and it shrank .

I have lied to my Nanny many times, I have not only seen his past but also my future.

I was almost depressed to a point of secrificing myself before the time .

I died before death many times .

It took me many days and nights just to accept the future that is coming.

My unrequited love, will never bloom .

I smiled at the thought and the maids who were massaging my skin looked puzzled.

This went for a while day, massaging, facial, moisturizing, dress fitting etc

And then I was given my dinner and a teacher walked in .

As I ate my dinner she told me how this marriage is different from any other marriage.

We will be given marriage certificate separately for our consent and signature, first to him and then to me .

Once we will sign the document the priest will then give each one of us a ring and we will keep it .

Later at night when he will join me in his chambers only then will he place this ring on my finger and the same goes for me.

And In my dreams that never happened.

"You may enter, Your Majesty"

The guards lightly bowed and opened the door to his chambers .

I nodded and then silently stepped in following my steps they closed the door behind me and I checked the whole chambers admiring it's beauty .

Opening the Balcony door I walked out in the fresh air .

Taking a deep breath, I let myself feel the Coldness of the air that made my skin shiver.

The clock bad already ticked the mid night and the moon shown brighter than before.

Or perhaps I couldn't see it properly from the tower before.

I closed the doors as I walked back inside and moved towards the bed sitting on the edge of it while lightly caressing it soft silky covers .

I was so sure that his Majesty will not come as I grabbed the blankets and pulled it over my shoulders, laying down on the soft comfy bed as his scent wrapped it self around me .

I was going to sleep when suddenly a howl shook the whole ground and not later, All blood was drained from my face and I struggled to breath .

The guards outside the door and each and every werewolve in the empire howled not much later joining the first howl .

And I heard my guards celebrating on the occasion of him finding his mate .

Totally forgetting about the person who was inside the chambers they were guarding.

I dropped down on my knees as they happily said

"May be the King will Kill the one he married today and make his mate his queen "

They were very happy as they said that and they were sure that he will be coming to kill me any moment .

I, at first tried to keep calm as I was sure that he will never come in here today but later my only hope was crushed .

When I heard he is furiously coming for me and just when he was about to enter through the doors, I in fear to be killed by my own love bit my tongue and died before seeing his face in reality ."

Not once or twice, I have seen this dream for almost a year, every day without a break and each and every time, I woke up after tasting my death .

And it took me exactly a year to accept it as it is and smile .

I couldn't bring myself to hate him or to leave him even when I knew I will die in the end .

The only conclusion I came up to was to not die before be killed by him .

I took in a deep breath before going to sleep and for once in the last seventeen years, I slept without having a dream .

Morning came faster as it brought a long day along with it .

I woke up at the middle of Dawn and the maids who arrived an hour later were shocked to find me awake .

Trying to hide their shocked expressions they avarted their gazes.

"What would you like to have for breakfast, Your Majesty"

The head maid stepped out and cleared her throat as she asked .

I Know, I will not be eating anything till later.

"Something nutritionist, healthy enough to support me throughout the whole day till dinner"

I replied as I went to the basan to wash my face .

She looked quite shocked at my response but nonetheless nodded .

Not later the butler came in with maids, holding my breakfast .

I ate very slowly and savourly, preparing myself for the long and hectic day .

Unlike Yesterday, doing a facial on the same day is not a good choice plus there were many more things that needed to be taken care of .

After preparing for a semi ceremony, I covered my face with a Vail and sat in my room .

Not later the priest came in, holding our marriage certificate which was already signed by the Emperor Lev .

After saying my vows in front of the priest, I was given the document that needed to be signed in order for all of this to end .

I looked at his signature and traced them lightly before signing and once I did the priest congratulated me and asked for my Vail in return of the ring .

I took my Vail off and gave it to him as he took it and gave me my ring .

I heard yesterday that my Vail would be given to my Husband in return of the ring .

And the lady who explained this told me that it holds the following meaning,

By giving the Vail to the husband, It symbolizes that his wife will only be deflowered by him and him only .

As much as it sounded romantic, I didn't liked it, what about those who clearly married because of Love but the lady is no longer a virgin ?

The same goes for men, why does the virginity of a lady count but the virginity of a man does not ?

Does that mean her husband can't receive a Vail ?

To which the lady smiled and said,

"No, no matter what the husband will still receive one because this one means love itself and the same goes for the lady since no matter what she will still receive the ring ".

I looked at the ring that was given to me and took my time examining it .

A beautiful ring, indeed I thought to myself.

I was already aware of what kind of ring it was but holding it in my hand it was more precious and beautiful then any other ring .

"Uhm"

The head maid cleared her throat as the priest left and she saw me looking at the ring so intensely.

I looked in her direction, now giving all my attention to her .

"My Empress, you are not suppose to wear the ring before the Emperor puts it on you himself"

She said hesitatingly, Trying her best not to make me feel offended .

I smiled at her and than nodded, in order to let her know that I understand.

I closed the box and handed it to her and I stood up .

"Let us go my Empress, it's time for you to get ready ."

Now, it was time to wear my wedding and went down to the hall where the celebration will take place .

And I Know that the King will not come .

I signed and rejected.

They looked taken aback by my sudden rejection.

A bride that will not attend her own marriage party ?

There facial expressions said it all but I smiled at them and told them to leave .

I knew from the start that I will only be disappointed if I dress up for him .

So, why not let it go ?

I closed my eyes for a small nap and before I knew It was already pass the early night.

The maids nocked at the door,

"Your Majesty your bath is ready "

As I walked toward him chambers it felt as if I had done this many times now .

It all felt very similar to being ignored and I smiled at the events that were going to unfold later .

Same guards, same greetings, same balcony, air, weather, time and the situation as soon as I closed my eyes after lying down .

The same howl, the same celebration, the same speech by the two guards and lastly the same announcement of him approaching me .

But this time as the doors were swung open, I sat up from my laying position, facing the other side of the room .

The man of my dreams and the man whome I had considered as mine for almost a decade came in .

I who was facing the other side could tell even without looking, since I know his scent.

The very familiar scent .

Not long after the doors were closed and the guards left their post leaving the newly wed chamber alone .

Even if they left for another reason ?

I said in my head .

My heart was creating a rhythm by it beats and it was franzic.

The me who knew what the man looked like .

The man I had embraced not too many times in my dreams .

As soon as I decided to stood up and face .

Two larg hands grasped my whole body tightly enough, to make me not move a single inch .

His touch didn't seemed hostile enough for a person who decided to kill, it was opposite.

Opposite enough to make my eyes wider and I looked right in his eyes .

His big red eyes , looking right at me .

As soon as our eyes met, something changed in his eyes and my stomach dropped .

His lips that seemed very far away from my reach landed on my neck, a small peck that send shivers down my whole body .

A small peck that was followed by his teeths sinking deep down into my flesh .

I screamed, the thought of him Killinv me this way left me paralyzed and soon the darkness consumed me ...
