Regret

Wan Wan had to pace back and forth for an hour before she could cool down. She was once the lofty young miss of the Wang family, if she said you should die then you could only roll over and die. But because of that hateful Great Aunt, she was tossed here to suffer. Wan Wan could only swallow her pride...

Two days passed in silence, Wan Wan thought it would be a wise idea to stay within her quarters as to prevent Gu Jin from finding fault with her. Sure enough, she was right to do so because no one came to find her in those couple of days. However, this did not mean she was completely clueless. These past few days the Duke had stayed with the other concubines at night, apparently, the Duke and the Madame had a big argument and were currently going through a cold war. If it were so it would be good for Wan Wan, the quicker that Gu Jin was out the better.

Currently, Wan Wan was making her way to the main hall since the Duke had 'summoned' her. She didn't know why though so she was a bit unwilling. After what he had pulled in his study the other day she was very guarded towards him.

Once she entered she saw the back of a man dressed in black and the Duke sitting and talking. "My Lord, this servant has arrived."

"En, General Wang has come to see you." General Wang? Isn't that Wang Zhi Ruo's older brother? Good good, let's see how that hateful Gu Jin will try and bully this ancestor!

"Gege!" As she walked in she had a polite and reserved smile as if she was merely talking to a stranger, after seeing her brother her face seemed to light up like a lantern on New Years Day. "Ruo'er." Seeing the warm face of the General and hearing his doting tone, Wan Wan couldn't help but think of her real brothers. She missed them a lot...

"There are matters that still need attention, I will take my leave." The Duke quickly escaped, he could never understand why everyone doted on her. She could not be called virtuous or charming, in what way was any part of her good? Even his close family members liked her!

"Ruo'er, your brother in this situation I cannot get involved. Back then, I shouldn't have let you marry Li Fengge, then you wouldn't have to suffer like this." The General could barely lift his gaze to look at her, the duke was clearly using this situation to take away her power. Zihao didn't want to say too much but if you were to ask him... he didn't believe that he cared for the dead maid and child that he supposedly had. The Duke suddenly felt that he hadn't seen Gu Jin for a while and missed her. Although she'd let him done a bit she was still his love, he couldn't abandon her. Thinking like this he decided to pay her a visit.

If Wan Wan could hear his thoughts she would not hesitate to kowtow to him. This level of self-importance was too high! When the duke arrived he was greeted with the sight of his wife in a pitiful state. Her eyes were red and watery, her nose a shiny red, pale skin and chapped lips. Seeing her like this the duke recognized that she had repented.

"My lord! You've come, this servant... this servant was wrong and misunderstood my lord. This servant knows that my lord loves me the most." Gu Jin sat up immediately seeing that the duke had arrived. She'd thought long and hard about their argument. She was foolish for doubting Fengge, he'd told her how much he loved her, he even sacrificed so much so that she could be his main wife. If she remembered correctly he even referred to his concubines as "gardens to lay his seeds", how could they compare to her? Besides, which household didn't have three wives and four concubines? As long as she remained the main wife she had nothing to fear.
