Delaney spent the night in the cell sitting on the floor. She was dozing off every now and then but she didn't want to lie down because she was wearing only a thin-strapped dress and the floor was very cold. She tried very hard not to fall asleep but her body eventually gave in and she lay down near the door. She would be awoken every now and then by the cold or noise from the other prisoners so when morning came, she had barely got any sleep and her eyes had dark circles.
The man she had seen cleaning the floor when she was brought to the cell by Keir's butler returned with cleaning materials and started with the first cell. The prisoner had to get out first but he had to be watched by the two guards.
When he was cleaning the second cell, the prisoner got out and went to stand outside Delaney's cell. The guards didn't stop him and it was like he knew they wouldn't because he didn't ask for consent.
