Merikh's robust frame had never seemed so intimidating to Delaney till now. He was shirtless, and his body was so warm that heat rushed to Delaney's face. She had to take a step back to stare into his eyes, and for a moment, she lost the instinct to breathe when she saw the intensity in his gaze.
"Ahem!" She loudly cleared her throat when he raised an eyebrow at her quizzically, her mind scrambling to remember why she was there. Right, apologising.
"Uuh, I came to apologise for the way I treated you this morning. I was having a nightmare and you just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time." The apology strangely sounded genuine, surprising even Delaney. When was the last time she apologized to someone like that?
"That is it?" Folding his hands across his chest and flexing his biceps in the process, Merikh asked in a flat tone, causing a frown to form on Delaney's forehead. What else was he expecting her to say?
