Waitress in the day, Vampire at night

*Excerpt* "Argh..." Ellie forced herself to stop moving, and she pushed the man dragging her away by her arm with all the strenght she could muster. "Aren't you listening to me? He's only a child. Please." she pleaded. The man was as solid as a concrete wall, and although he barely moved a step away despite the force she used in pushing him, her actions seemed to have made him stop dragging her. Or maybe not. Because the next second, she heard the sound of the sole of a shoe hit the ground, then another, and another... Turning around in apprehension, she realized the painter had finally turned from his painting and was walking toward her. Her bones froze instantly. His face... She had no words to describe how beautiful he was, even though his skin was almost white. His dark brown hair fell over his forehead, almost covering his dangerously cold dark grey eyes. His steps were slow and majestic, making him look like a top ranked demon walking out of hell with just one agenda — to end her miserable life. He reeked of bloodlust, and the aura around him radiated death and destruction. The hairs on her skin stood up in reaction to the threat approaching her, and knowing she couldn't outrun him, she fell on her knees. "P-please, I-im s-sorry for disturbing you a-and pushing him. My brother is only a child. He's sick and I'm the only one he has. If you must imprison me, then I beg you to at least take him to an orphanage." Ellie pleaded, stuttering for the first time in her life, her eyes fixed on the floor. A moment later, she felt a cold finger touch her chin, pushing her head. When that was done, he took off her mask, exposing her face. Ellie's heart was beating wildly by this time. There was no trace of warmth, neither did any emotion register on his face upon seeing her complete facial features. It was just plain, cold, blankness. "You are in no position to make demands." His lips finally moved, and the words that came out of his mouth crushed Ellie's heart. "It's not a demand. Just a request. I don't want him to die." She persisted. "What makes you think I would grant such a request?" "Because it's the right thing to do." Ellie gave the obvious answer, but his face twisted like she just spit poison at him. "Do I look like someone who gives a fuck about doing the right thing?" "No!" Ellie answered truthfully. "I'm sorry. I made a mistake. Saving my brother is not the right thing. It is the wrong thing. In fact, I can assure you it is the wrongest thing to do." She made a quick U-turn, and the painter's brows flew up in surprise for just a second, before his next order jumped out of his mouth. "Take her away." *** Life dealt Ellie Sander a cruel blow when her parents suddenly died in a car crash, leaving her to cater for her five year old anaemic brother, whose ability to walk was affected by the same crash. With no money, no stable job, and no help coming from anywhere, she was forced to take advantage of the insecurity in their town to fend for herself and her brother. Being a waitress in the day and a fake Vampire at night, she raised enough money and all went well until one night when she met with the real vampire, and her freedom was taken away.

My personal prey

"Master." Ellie heard Enrique's voice while she was beating herself up for getting carried away.

When she turned to look at him, he was already bowing, but Ellie found his posture strange. His body was almost at a ninety-degree angle. Was it necessary to go as low as—

Her train of thought was cut off when Enrique's hand landed on the back of her neck, and he pulled downward, forcing her to bow as well.

She shot him a side glare, which he returned just as fiercely, before shaking his head slightly in resignation.

This was why all the servants and maids go through the breaking process. Although he hated the inhumane treatment meted out to them, there were basic things they learned during that period, which ensures he doesn't have many headaches when they are brought to his department.

But this one was not just unbroken. She was stubborn as well. He didn't need anyone to tell him he would have lots of headaches handling her, especially when he was receiving direct orders from Storm concerning her.

Storm watched the silent exchange between the two of them, and the side of his lips curled up ever so slightly.

He simply gestured for them to rise, then continued advancing into the room, toward the bed.

But he was not alone.

As soon as he reached the bed and stood before the bedside stool, Ellie's gaze was once again pulled toward the door as echoes of footsteps reached her ears.

Another bald man walked in, and behind him were two ladies, heads bowed, and eyes fixed to the floor. Ellie couldn't see their faces, so she didn't know what their expressions were.

"Kneel." The bald man ordered, as soon as they reached the foot of the bed, and the ladies went down on their knees instantly, never for once lifting their eyes.

Ellie's brows furrowed and she forgot the reason she was there in the first place. The event unfolding right before her eyes seemed to be more interesting, even though she had no idea what was going on.

By the time Storm turned around again, she quickly remembered herself and looked away.

"Master, we will return another time." Enrique said, then turned to Ellie. "Come on." He gestured for Ellie to follow him as he turned toward the door, knowing Storm would not want to be disturbed at that time. But the response he received shocked him.

"You can continue with what you're doing." Storm's voice echoed while he undid a few of his shirt buttons, and rolled up his sleeve.

His words came out strange, not only to Enrique but also to Seth, who shot him a questioning look. However, he said nothing, and Enrique only nodded at the strange response.

Ellie, who didn't know what was going on, was still trying her best not to look back in his direction. But all self-control she was employing, abandoned her the moment she heard his next words.

"You, on blue, come up here."

At that point, nothing could have been able to stop Ellie from feeding her curiosity. She turned her head and watched as the lady in a blue dress stood up from her kneeling position and began walking toward Storm, who was already seated comfortably on the side of the bed with one of his legs firmly planted on the floor.

Ellie was determined to see what was going to happen, but Enrique was determined to make sure she doesn't.

"Hey, pay attention here," Enrique spoke, and at the same time, placed his hand on her shoulder, and turned her away from the bed and whatever was going on there.

"The floor must always be clean, all frames should be free of dust…" Enrique resumed listing rules and things she must and must not do while cleaning.

But Ellie was no longer paying full attention. She could hear him, but her mind was somewhere else. That "somewhere else" was right beside her. She just needed to turn her head a little to the left to feed her curiosity.

And that was exactly what she did. When Enrique looked away for a second while pointing to a shelf in a corner of the room, Ellie took the opportunity to look the other way.

She froze instantly, her eyes stretched to their full capacity because just at that moment, Storm sank his fangs into the neck of the lady in blue.

She was on the bed, on all fours, and her head was bent to give him full access to her neck. He, on the other hand, wasn't looking at the person on the bed. Instead, his eyes were fixed on Ellie as if he knew she would look back at him and was waiting for her to do so before he would take a bite.

Satisfaction glinted in his eyes when he saw her reaction, just before Enrique pulled her attention again by grabbing her hand.

"We're done here, Master. She will resume tomorrow." Enrique gave another bow, then pulled Ellie, who still looked like she couldn't believe what her eyes just saw, toward the door.

The moment they stepped out of the room and shut the door, he shot her a glare but continued walking away without saying anything.

But his feet came to a sudden halt a distance away from the door, when he saw Asaph walking in their direction.

"Wait here," Enrique instructed her, giving her a stern look before letting her hand go. The next second, he turned around and walked back toward the room.

After he was granted entry, he bowed before he started speaking.

"Master, I think you should issue a warning to the others to avoid anyone hurting the girl by mistake. She's still a complete human and therefore is a walking temptation and easy prey in a place like this. There are already people trying to harm her."

"That walking temptation, is my personal prey. Anyone who lays a finger on her will answer to me. Ensure they all get the message." Storm responded, and Enrique nodded.

He walked out of the room, pausing to give Asaph, who was already outside the door, a "I believe you heard that" look, before heading once more toward Ellie.

Anxiety and fear overtook Ellie as what she just witnessed replayed over and over in her mind.

"Oh, God! I have to get out of here." She spoke out in a whisper, but quickly shut her mouth with her hand when she realized someone may hear her.

And they heard her. Not just one person, but four. However, only one person's lips curled up into a mischievous smile, despite being engrossed with taking in as much blood as he needed.
