Chapter 1

A pair of tired eyes looking at the car's window, watching lights from stores and buildings as it was already past 6pm.

'I' m so tired of crying, why would they invite me to eat outside when they clearly know what I'm feeling now'

Leah open her eyes and looked at her adopted parents on the front seat. Talking something she couldn't hear properly. She was told to dress up because they are having family dinner. Although she was tired her mother told her to go with them or else she have no food to eat.

'Such a cruel people'

Her body feels like fainting after she cried and lock herself 2 days after her boyfriend broke up with her. He was playing with her heart and she realized she was stupid to fall that hard since he was acting to be loyal. A heavy sigh came out from her mouth as her eyes start to form water. She wish she could forget already that jerk.

And the thing is, her adopted parents never even comfort her about what happened. Told her that it's her fault anyway being inlove quickly.

A question came to her mind even before they came out from the house. She was just waiting for the timing.

"Where's Elaine?"

With no hesitation, Leah ask tiredly. The two on the front seat puase of what they are talking and looked to each other before answering Leah.

"She's gonna bring someone that will make her a little late for our dinner"

The mother, Vivian, excitedly says while checking her phone. But that answer make Leah question again mix with a sarcastic tone.

"Aah~, I thought this will be a family dinner?"

Vivian who notice her tone, throw a glare to on the mirror that reflect Leah. But Leah just looked at her mother's eyes with no fear.

"What's wrong with you? You've been lazy for a few days and now you're being sarcastic?!"

"Honey"

As Vivian raised her voice, Evan, the father stop his wife. And make a sigh, trying to not to add fire on the fuel. His wife rolled her eyes and put off the glare to Leah.

"Leah, Elaine is gonna bring someone that will be part of our family soon that's why we invited youand that person to the dinner, a family dinner"

Evan calmly talk a he was focusing on the road.

"Okay..."

Leah plainly reply and also let out a big sigh.

'Since when did Elaine got herslef a boyfriend, maybe that time I was locking myself at my room? Tsk'

"Don't make your mother mad again, are we clear?"

Evan looked at Leah on the mirror after assuring the road. She notice it and nod.

"Yes,yes, I... I will"

Evan smiled liked sincere but Leah know it's not real. She already knew the real faces of her adopted parents.

A moment later, they finally arrived on the expensive resturant. Glimmering by the yellow and white lights that illuminate the inside 'till outside. The design was simple-rich-like designs on the walls and Indeed only rich are able to go here.

Leah follow Evan and Vivian towards the entrance. A waiter was waiting and bow it' s head to the and greet. Vivian showed a white delicate paperwith gold design from her expensive bag and talk to the wauter. It nodded as a response and lead them to a table.

You can see some rich people also, some are famous on social media and some have known businesses.

As the three sit down the waiter ask them about their food, Leah goes by what Evan and Vivian wants, as she didn't have chance to pick what she want.

As they wait Leah felt more sleepy, her eyes tearing up and a yawn came out from her mouth.The smell of food makes her resist her sleepiness.

Fortunately she don't have make up on so she rubbed her eyes a little. She notice a glare of Vivian but she ignore it.

"So unprofessional tsk"

Even it was whisper was dominated by the plates and voices of the people around, Leah still heard it and she's immune so she act like she didn't hear it.

'Food, come quickly! I' m getting sleepy! '

A few minutes pass, Vivian who is checking on her phone looked behind Leah as Elaine is walking towards them with someone. As Leah caught the movement of her adopted mother, she also looked behind her and her sleepiness disappeared.

Beside Elaine walking elegant dress up with a light purple dress up to below the knee. A man wearing a dark purple stripe tuxedo caught Leah's eye

Her eyes widen and she became pale like she was seeing ghost. The person behind Elaine also have shock expression. It was her ex boyfriend, Jian.

The calm heart of Leah began to crumble as memories rewind to her mind again. At the moment Leah heart swallowed by rage.
