Ch 16 quest and Forbbiden Drinks?

It didn't take long for the rest of the group to scale the cliff after the Grimm were dead. They were rounded up by Ozpin and Glynda and shipped back to Beacon for the team announcement ceremony.

On the ship back as Vyr was resting against Ruby and complimenting how well she did, Vyr got a notification from her system.

(System)<

Quest: Defeat Manus, father of the abyss!

Reward: depends on ????? !

Penalty for failure: Loss of system!

Time limit: two days!

System highly recommends heavy preparation before attempting the quest!>

As Vyr was looking at the notification she got another.

(Valkira System)<Vyr this is bad!>

'No shit! What's with this quest? Why did you send me something like this!?'

<I didn't send it! You got Claimed!!!>

'Claimed? What's that?'

<It's like a sponsor, but now no one else can sponsor you! Not even me!>

'What!?But you're my family?!'

<Thats why its bad! It's like a godly marriage contract! It excludes others from helping you!>

'What?! How did that happen?!'

<It's complicated and hasn't happened in forever. Normally it's impossible, but because of somethings, they were able to pull it off>

'Can i undo it? And who did it anyway?'

<I don't know a way to undo it. It's way before my time. Most who are that old are long gone! But the worst thing is the one who claimed you can't be found! They just set up the quest and blocked everyone else from interfering! It's my own system yet I can't change a thing they locked me out! I didn't even know that was possible!>

'What do i do?! Do I just do the quest? It said the system would be removed if I didn't.'

<I don't know. I'll try to work something out on my side.>

'Let me know when you figure it out. Till then I guess i'll prepare for this Bullshit quest.'

<I'll go ask around. I think my friend may be able to help. I just have to find her first.>

After that Vyr started planning for the future, this caused a commotion around her as no one could get her attention. Even when Ruby asked all she got back was "I need to think about something, don't worry about it."

Vyr spent the rest of the trip thinking and planning. When she came to, she was on a stage with Ruby, Blake, Yang, and Weiss. Around her people were clapping and on a big screen was the letters RVBYS. Ruby was hugging her and talking about team exercises, while Blake and Yang were smiling and nodding. Weiss looked like she was having another world view break.

(Vyr)"Ozpin we need to talk."

Ozpin sees her being serious and nods before motioning them off stage so the ceremony continues.

(Ruby)"What's wrong? You have been spacing out ever since the test ended."

"I need to speak with ozpin later. You should come too. This will be some heavy stuff though, but i trust you."

Ruby smiles at the thought of Vyr trusting her and nods her head happily. They say goodbye to the rest of their team and make their way to Ozpin's office. Vyr looks around and marvel at the changes Ozpin has made since meeting her. It was not as bare as the show, now there were posters of band's and merchandise. One part of the office had even become a small rock/sand garden, it even had a mat on the floor for meditation.

They waited for around an hour for ozpin. While they waited Vyr gave a barebones sundown on some things to Ruby.

(Ruby)"So let me get this straight. You are from a different world. That's why you know magic and can do weird stuff. You came here to change fate and save a bunch of people. And something has gone wrong and you need to prepare for a big fight."

Vyr nods.

"So why did you teach me magic then?" Ruby asks.

"I taught you magic because I like you." Vyr says with a smug grin.

Ruby blushes a little and thinks it over some more before saying "I -"

As Ruby was talking Ozpin walked in interrupting her. Vyr glared at him while ruby's face turned red.

Pretending he didn't notice, Ozpin asked "What is so important? You looked disturbed ever since the ride back. Should Miss Rose be here?"

"Something big came up, so i explained some stuff ahead of time. The day after tomorrow I have to head off to a fight. If I don't, I get stripped of my powers."

Ozpin looks surprised and asks "that can happen?"

"Apparently I got the attention of some old god. Don't know what that's all about, but apparently they did something and now i have to fight or they take my powers."

(Ruby)"Do we know who did it?"

"Sadly no. They apparently did a godly drive by and went and hid. Now I have tomorrow only to prepare for some big fight."

Ozpin looks contemplative for a bit then asks "Do we know anything about what you must fight?"

"That's the worst part! I have to go fight a giant mutated half monster called manus! If it's anything like what I know, I have to fight in a realm of darkness and corruption, versus the father of the abyss. If he's anything like the real version, I have to go through the entire fight in the dark while he can smash entire buildings with a single hit. The only good thing is I have powerful weapons, like my scythe. But if I get hit as I am now, I'll be lucky to not just poof into a pink blood mist."

They both look worried before ruby asks "will you be ok?"

Vyr thinks for a moment "I should be fine, more or less. It just depends on other factors. My race is basically immortal, but i don't know with all the corruption and stuff. I should be fine though. Either way I have to go. Ozpin I need to be out of class for a bit. I don't know how long I will be but those plans we set up over summer need to work. Tomorrow I will be preparing for the fight but i will try to list out some stuff we may have forgotten. Just make sure to match the future as much as possible. After we change it we lose a major advantage but it will be worth it."

Ozpin nods and takes a sip from his cup.

"What are you talking about?" Ruby asks, looking confused.

"I'm sorry i can't tell you ruby. If we stray too much from fate then we can lose the path we want to take. I swear i'll make it up to you when i get back."

Ruby looks sad before hearing what Vyr said at the end. Suddenly she looks ecstatic and hugs Vyr saying "Deal! You can't take it back!"

Vyr just gives a wry smile but nods and pats Ruby on the head. "Yeah, it's a deal"

Ruby doesn't respond but she does hug Vyr harder.

(Ozpin)"Alright i will set up an excuse for you while you are gone. Now you two should go meet up with your team. It has been a long day and you two need rest.Ah and Vyr, you can use my office for your preparations."

They two went back to their room and met up with the rest of their team. Vyr made up some BS reasons for not going to class for a while, before claiming a bed and taking Ruby with her to sleep.

The next morning she woke up to the sound of power tools and construction work. She sighed at how anime worlds work before looking around at her roommates. They were redecorating the room and making less than safe bunk beds. Groaning she turned back over, trying to deny consciousness and its hold of her. Sadly, her years of waking up early and training thwarted her attempts to return to her peaceful, worry free, don't have to fight a giant monster in a day, sleep.

After many unfruitful attempts, Vyr decided it was time to face reality and get out of bed. When she stood up she realized she didnt even change before going to bed, so she was still wearing her clothes. Shrugging she grabbed ruby and started her morning routine.

Weiss seeing Vyr ignore everyone else asked "Is she always like this in the morning?"

(Yang)"No~? She is normally up earlier than this. Ruby said she got some bad news yesterday, so she should probably go back to normal after she is over whatever has her down."

After she had Completed her morning routine, Vyr said goodbye to the team and headed to Ozpin's office.

When she got there Ozpin was already at his desk.

(Ozpin)"So how are we going to prepare you for this test?"

*sigh*"A couple of things actually.

1. I need you to bring me water, purified preferably. And a lot of clear bottles, plastic not glass. Though now that i think about it both would be best.

2. I need to make some changes to myself that I have been avoiding.

And finally 3. We need to go over anything we missed for the plans. I don't know how long i will be gone, or what might happen. So we need to be prepared. Oh! And as much dust as you can get me would be nice as well."

"I'll get glynda to send up the things. What do you mean by making changes to yourself? I don't condone drugs."

Vyr weakly chuckles and says "No not drugs. I told you about my race before right?" Ozpin nods so she continues "Well, one of our abilities is to change ourselves to what we see fit. There are some limits but that's beside the point. I have been avoiding it because not only is it dangerous. It also has downsides even if done right. What I will be doing is modifying my muscles, bones, organs, along with others. Pretty much a full overhaul of my systems."

"That doesn't sound good."

"Nice understatement, *sigh* the upside is i will be the "best" "me" i can be for the fight."

The two spent the next hour or two going over what needed to happen and how to get around certain undesirable outcomes. They stopped when Glynda let them know she had put all the requested items in the basement where Amber's cryotube was.

After Vyr had healed her, Amber had made the room her new house. Since she couldn't really go out right now. The good thing is when Vyr gave her the potion it apparently changed her body to be even more compatible with the Fall maiden's power. Now if it wasn't for the Grimm, Cinder was using, Amber would become the full maiden again easily. As it stands if she wanted she could yoink the power back, but they decided to keep that a secret for later.

When they got off the elevator Amber was complaining to Glynda about all the stuff that Vyr had asked for.

(Amber)"I know this is the basement but i am living here! Why are you putting all this garbage here? And whats with the dust, is this some secret water, bottles, and dust stockpile?"

Vyr cut in here and said "Sorry about this Amber, i asked for this. I will make sure its gone by tomorrow or the day after."

Amber looked surprised then embarrassed and said "No No! I didnt know it was your stuff! Im sorry ! you can leave it here as long as you like."

Amber had always been thankful to Vyr for saving her. Whenever Vyr was around she always tried to be on her best behavior.

Vyr thanked her and asked " could i get you to help me unload everything? I would like the bottle separated into glass and not glass as well. I'll even show you something cool."

Amber happily agreed so she and Ozpin went to sorting, while Vyr started to take out different bottles of chemicals. Glynda had classes to teach so she hurried and left after letting them know more stuff would arrive later.

After they sorted everything Vyr gathered the two others and started explaining what she would be doing "Alright you two pay attention, i need you two to remember so you can do this in a bit by yourself. What we are making is what I call "forbidden slurp slurp". It's scientific name is hard to pronounce so I like "Forbidden slurp slurp". First we will be adding some of this powder called Sodium carbonate to a bottle about half full of water. We stir it up and add luminol, we stir it in as well. Next add some of this sodium bicarbonate and stir that in as well. Next in an empty bottle put in some of this Hydrogen peroxide till about half full. Next we add this Potassium ferricyanide to the Hydrogen peroxide and stir the two. Thats about it, god i hate scientific names, hard to fucking remember."

(Amber)"what is this stuff anyway?"

"Oh yeah i forgot the best part!" Vyr yells hopping up and turning off the lights.

"Ok now we add the two together to make the final product. THE FORBIDDEN SLURP SLURP!"

As she yells this she adds the two together making the new solution which glows a hue of blue. Amber was making noises of amazement and playing with the glowing blue fluid when Ozpin Said "I see you plan to use this to light up the darkness when you fight."

Vyr nodded before saying "This and something called Triti-yum lights. But i won't show you those."

(Amber)"Aww why not?"

"Because they work off radiation."

"What's that?"

"An invisible airborne poison more or less. It had a lot of uses but it is super dangerous and hard to contain."

"And you plan to fight with it?!"

"Yeah pretty much!"

Ozpin and Amber look at her like she is stupid before she says "Its only dangerous in large doses and i have ways to negate its effects on me but i dont know if they work on you two. Enough about that, will you two make more of the "Slurp" stuff while i go do something?"

(Amber)"Yeah i don't mind i was bored anyway but what are you gonna do?"

"Thanks, Ozpin will fill you in. I need to get started" Says Vyr as she turned on the lights again before sitting cross legged on the floor.

She starts going over all the different things she has absorbed or bought, so she can make a list of the different pros and cons each can bring. After she finds the best uses for each she starts the process of changing her body to those new pieces. It starts slow, a light heat in the muscles, blood pumping a bit faster, breathing harder. But soon it changes. Her muscles are now literally letting off steam and particles. Her bones are cracking then breaking through her now red skin. She is bleeding dark multicolored blood from every pore. Vyr would be screaming in pain if it wasn't for the constant flow of blood, gunk, and bits of her body that was coming up. The only reason she was still conscious was the fact that her brain was not spared from the changes. She would thrash, but the muscles needed were either nonexistent or just not listening. She couldn't even focus enough to stop the process. Oddly though she was hyper aware of the changes and improvements that were happening.

Ozpin and Amanda were quick to realize her predicament. Amanda was trying to use her maiden powers to reduce the strain she was feeling, while Ozpin was trying to force her consciousness into rest. Sadly neither were able to do anything besides waste power.

Now long after they stopped to try and think of a way to help, all the particles Vyr was letting off formed a kind of shell or cocoon around her. They tried to check on her but nothing worked, it was like the shell just denied access to everything.

Things stayed this way until the end of the day when Glynda came back along with ruby and more supplies.

(Ozpin)"what is miss Rose doing here?"

(Glynda)"She is looking for Miss BloodLotus. She was quite worried so i agreed to bring her here."

(Ruby)"Im sorry but Vyr said she would be back tonight but it's already time for us to sleep and she isn't back yet."

Amber looked ashamed while Ozpin sighed and said "We don't know what happened, but when she was using her power it made that shell over in the corner around her. Nothing we did could open it, though we didn't try violent means."

While ruby hurried over to the shell amber whispered to Ozpin "It was a lot more than using her powers, it looked like she was dying in front of us!"

"What the girl doesnt know won't hurt her. There is no point in worrying the poor girl more than she already is."

When they looked back to Ruby she was in front of the shell with her hand on it. Suddenly she felt a pinch on her palm. She quickly pulled back her hand to see a spike with her blood on it retract back into the shell. The shell shook a bit before a giant pair of teeth reminiscent of Vyr's mask in her prototype armor formed. Ruby quickly backed up as the teeth opened and a wall of particles fell out along with Vyr.

Ruby hurried and pulled Vyr into her arms as Vyr was coughing up more particles. The shell quickly collapsed before becoming particles that returned to vyr's new body along with the particles she was coughing up.

As Ruby and Amber were fretting over Vyr Ozpin was noting the changes she had undergone. At first glance she looked the same as she always does, but upon closer inspection he noticed she seemed to have increased in all categories. Her skin while still pale seemed to be smoother. The shapes of her eyes now seemed more pronounced and the red and blues seemed to glow. Even her hair seemed to be of higher quality. Her whole being now radiated a noticeable mysterious charm. As he was going over her changes it seems Ruby noticed as well.

Amber had gone to get her some water and food along with Glynda, seeing he was being a third wheel Ozpin gathered his things before leaving as well.

Ruby was absent mindedly running her hands through Vyr's hair while giving her a lap pillow. When she saw Vyr's wry smile, Ruby blushed but didnt stop.

Vyr laughed and said "I guess this is a good indicator you feel the same eh?"

Ruby blushed even more while covering Vyr's mouth so she couldn't tease her and mumbled a quiet "Yes". Sadly this did not help as you could tell what Vyr was thinking by the look in her eyes.

They stayed like that for a while longer before Vyr sighed and stood up. She inspected herself before sighing and gathering all the Slurp mixes.

Having gotten everything she walked back the the dorm with Ruby hand in hand. When they got back everyone was already asleep, so they just climbed into the now hanging bed before sleeping as well. The entire time ruby was blushing and fidgeting, but she never pulled away.

The next morning was worse than the day before. Her new body needed more time to fully settle so she was super tired. But she couldnt go back to sleep because her hug pillow (Ruby) had classes. On top of that all the new parts mean more food intake. She spent Four hours cooking just to get herself full (she also cooked lunch for the team but sush). At around 10Am she got a notice from the system saying she only had 2 hours before the quest automatically began.

She spent the next two hours basically buying everything she could think of to help her on her mission. This included a Estus flask with a philosopher stone inside so it refilled over time. She even bought the elder wand and invisibility cloak. She also bought the chloranthy ring +3, although she wanted to avoid it since even when playing the game she tended to rely on it too much.

When 11:40 rolled around she was standing in Ozpin's office. She was wearing her prototype Crystal armor and holding both the Freide's scythes and had the frayed blade on her hip.

When it was 12 exactly a dark singularity opened in front of her, much to the shock of Ozpin, Amber, and Ruby who were watching.

Vyr was barely able to say "OH SHIT!" as a giant black furred arm reached out of the singularity and grabbed her before pulling her in.

The others watched on in horror as the singularity swallowed Vyr before closing.
