Vykryian, a Demonic Expressions Story.

"Please, end this cruel life of mine already."

"I'd do anything to just get out of this hell.."

The dark thoughts pounded deep within her mind as the water from the kitchen sink gushed down her face. The water would begin to slowly enter the cuts which adorned her once beautiful face.

Held down by the one she loved dearly once before, all that was left of him was nothing but a ball of unfiltered rage.

The final straw that caused him to change was simply due to the mans own luck. It started like a chain reaction. First his job, then gambling away all of his money.

He became nothing but an alcoholic who soon had his mind destroyed and only resorted to animalistic violence.

He would scream at her, holding her down by the neck under the kitchen sink.

Her arms squirming and trying to punch against his back to let go. Alas, in his

drunken rage, the blows dealt to his back would just erupt his emotions even more.

The last thing that came to her mind as everything became a blur was the good times she once had with him. And then, an eerie silence.

Birds chirping mixed with the soft sound of a wooden chair creaking as it rocked back and forth. The soothing sounds of a new morning filled her ears. Her thoughts intact, but in a daze. She prepares to open her eyes and pick herself up off the kitchen floor. However, when her eyes open, she sees an unfamiliar wooden ceiling. And as she tries to speak, the only thing that comes out is the cries of a newborn child. Only upon seeing her tiny hands, did she begin to slowly realize what had happened to her.

-Vykryian, Chapter 1-

"5 years..."

A small blue haired child carves another 1 into the side of her wooden wall with a stake.

"5 years since I was reborn here." "I don't really understand why or how it happened."

"And even now, after 5 years I'm not really comfortable around anyone. If I was going to be reincarnated, why did I have to keep my memories." She looks down at her now trembling hands, her eyes dilating as she recalls the horrors of her past life. Her breathing became heavier and heavier, until her thoughts are broken off by the sound of a woman yelling "Lilliana! Dinner time!"

"Haaah..." I let out a deep breath, my nerves slowly calming themselves. While I'm not comfortable around most people, my mother of this world is different. I've never met a woman so caring and innocent in either of my lives. My name here is Lilliana, the name given to me by her. Slowly walking towards my mother, I begin to tug on her blouse as my body was still too short to reach the kitchen chair. Letting out a sweet chuckle, she wrapped her arms around my body. As she lifted me, she made a "Wooooo" noise as if trying to imitate a train. Maybe this isn't another world, but actually heaven?

I let out a sigh, opening my eyes to yet another new day. Kicking my feet off my bed, I look into the mirror to see a much more taller version of myself.

I grab my stake, and write down yet another one into the wall, that makes twelve. Twelve years, it seriously does not feel like it has been that long at all.

As I lean against the window outlooking the village, my mind begins to think of the things I've learned while sneaking into my mothers library.

Apparently, this world's foundation is purely based off magic. Despite this, my clan of half animal, half human hybrid creatures that call themselves "Vykryians" don't believe in strength from magic. Letting out a faint smile as I see my mother tending to the yard-work from the window, I rest my hand against one of my Ram-like Horns adorned on my head and continue my thought filled ramble.

Honestly, It's quite a strange thing. They are the only race to exist that rely on the now so called "obsolete" power of muscle. The village would have multiple attempts to train me in the art of fighting, but any time the instructor would take a swing at me. Horrible flashbacks of my previous life would seemingly play out in real time. Freezing up, I would always end up on the ground crying.

While over time, I've become considered a failure by the Vykryian people, my mother still welcomes me with open arms and even goes as far as to defending me. It kind of makes me sad, that my mother has to go through so much berating just because my trauma holds me back. I'm sorry, ma.

"Lilliana, Wake up. Your going to be late for your Ceremony of Adulthood!" Ugh, my head... Opening my eyes, I see my mother looming over me. The once beautiful face of a fair maiden now tainted with the common plague known as age. Her arms laid against her hips and she looked at me while making an exaggerated pose. As if she was saying "I'm disappointed in you for sleeping in!

"Alright, alright." Sitting up, my hair flowed down over my eyes. Slightly annoyed by this, I took one of my hands and held up my frontal bangs.

"18 today, huh?"

Whenever Vykryian children turn 18, they undergo a ceremony in which they have a marriage partner arranged to them. Yes, even for a so called "failure" like myself, the tradition of these people was no exception.

While I do have a father, I think I've only seen him once or twice as he is always out on exploring expeditions.

As for my marriage partner, I believe they said it was a boy named David. While he seems like a kind kid, I just cant open up to anyone besides my mother.

Fear, almost as if it's a separate entity, grabs me by my neck and it becomes impossible to breathe. This is a part that I truly hate about myself, but its just a horrible thing that I cant seem to break. "I'm sorry David, but I'm probably not the wife you were expecting."

Is what I thought to myself as my eyes became a bit heavy. After the ceremony, we all celebrated my newfound marriage with some alcoholic beverages. Of course I stayed away from it, sitting in the corner of the room in my own solace watching my mother and David happily chat away. Time passed quickly, and we all had gone to bed.

David would spend that night in the guest room, none of us realizing what would come the day after.

My eyes would open as my body began to uncontrollably roll around. My back had felt stiffer than usual. As my eyes opened, I had realized that my body now laid across the hard wooden floor. Wait...where's my bed? I look over and notice it completely missing, now just a empty spot in the room of where it once stood. My confusion reached an all time peak, until a small burp came the direction of my left hand. Looking down, I noticed a small smiling mouth atop my hand. It licked its lips before saying "Hello!" It felt like time around me paused, my heart felt like an anvil that had smashed onto the ground below. Letting out a shriek and falling backwards, I brushed my hand accidently against my curtain windows. I watched in absolute horror as it slowly became a meal for my hand. "What the hell are you!?" I screamed, my mother came rushing in with a weapon in hand, only to be stopped in her tracks. To this day, My mother had never made a face as horrible as the one I saw that day. She did not even get close to me, she looked at me like I was a monster. Her next actions were those that just caused me to have more anxiety. She stormed out the house, screaming for someone to come to her aid.

"Should I cut off my hand? Did I get some kind of unknown disease? What is this?!" I squirmed around on the floor, as my hand let out another burp. This time my curtains were fully consumed "Why are you panicking?" The mouth spoke to me "You should feel proud you were chosen to be the next devourer!" My mind came to a complete blank, and the next thing that uttered out my mouth was almost like a involuntary reaction.

"The next what?" The mouth seemed to pucker its lips, almost as if it was visibly frustrated at the words that it had just heard. "Are you deaf girl!? Born under a bridge? Being the next devourer is a great honor indeed! Only the highest caliber of honor, Hmph!" He scoffs, while seemingly keeping up his pompous and slightly immature tone towards me. "What was my master thinking picking someone like yo-" I cut him off abruptly "Woah woah woah, wait a minute. You're telling me that someone forced this on me? I never agreed to accept whatever this devourer thing is, cant you just like leave? I just want to live a normal life." "Better yet" I paused, carefully standing up while I avoided rubbing my hand against anything as to not let it eat anymore of my room. "I'm going to see the elder to get rid of you, right now"

"Hahahaha!!!! Bwahahahaaa...". The hand laughed like it was the funniest joke he had heard in years. "Get rid of me? Please girl. You're so asinine if you truly believe barbaric mortals could even begin to comprehend my power and regality, let alone dare to even think of such fooli-" Thwack, thwack. I began to smack the back of my hand against the wooden wall. His deep and raspy voice now letting out a somewhat girlish scream as I beat my hand against it over and over, purposely making sure to avoid hitting the mouth part itself directly against anything. "Agh, oomphf! Stop, enough!!" The voice screamed, and I screamed back. "Then leave me alone!! I didn't ask for whatever the hell you are! Just go away!"

"Lilliana?" the voice of my mother came from the living room, I quickly told the hand to stay quiet and ran down the stairs, to which I was met with not by my mother, but guards from the village slowly pouring themselves through the door. A man whom I recognized as the elder waltzed in behind a small stack of guards, his long goatee reaching down to the floor. He pat it gently as he began to speak. "Lilliana Vkra. From this day forth, you are hereby banished from the village and will never be allowed to return. This is the punishment for taking on dark magics."

This is my first time ever sharing one of my stories publicly, normally I would always consider my writing mediocre. I hope yall enjoy this.
