VRMMO: Chaos

Chaos is the name of the new MMO in town, one that is based on VR. The developers have worked hard to replicate the reality onto an MMO environment. Humanity hopes to learn of unknown through the help of this game to save earth from dying and advance themselves from an insignificant race to the rulers. The Dev team has prepared a team of competent members to venture in the game to contribute to the cause, we follow the story of such a member! Throughout the story, I will take the opinion of the readers and should I find any suggestion great and interesting, I will figure out a way to include it in the story. All the names of person and character are fictional and have no relation with their real counterparts should they exist. Any reference from existing copyright material will be purely a reference and under no circumstance is meant for violation.

This is my current status after completion of my personal quest and getting to grade D adventurer. Many of the extra material I got from the hunting trip also increased my currency alongside the adventurer quests. Although, I never went to hunt those three star or higher creatures, the way they are made grant them higher intelligence than normal creatures, making them very hard opponents, not to mention the huge increase of their strength compared to their normal one or two star counterparts. I saw quite a few people trying to kill them but got a free ticket to the fort instead. The patch notes also gave clear details about stats and drop rates, fixed some imbalance and compensated players of anything they missed on due to the rework on the calculation. Now we and all the players are going to give more feedback about any imbalance or issue and the next patch will come after someone hits level 5 and class system gets unlocked. The team has the idea of using the system unlock landmark to give major updates that can contain several system overhaul. That way it'll be easier for the community to adapt to the changes rather than just throwing them whenever possible, unless they are some game breaking problem, which should not happen. I also heard that as soon as more resource comes from government, the system will get an upgrade which will help to track any issue or exploit across Chaos and Order will try to adjust it by herself.

On my side, one of the major changes is my inner skill, I got a healing word, an undead word, a word to leech health from my opponent and a word to temporarily call upon a selected soul of a being given I have something used by that entity. But I can not cast them like skills, for skills, I can think of it and it will be activated. The words though, I actually have to speak them, so if I get silenced, I won't be able to use them, although when the inner skill evolves to a higher type, then it will become possible and I doubt at this stage anyone actually got a silence skill or spell, that will come only after people get a class. For now, I can only rise weak skeletons with my undead word, rising higher grade undead will require higher amount of death energy, so unless I can get 100 or more of those, I can't summon anything that can actually deal a good amount of damage, these skeletons are just useful to distract the opponent.

Later on, once I get enough money, I'll go to Amar'khan's shop and get the other parts of my gear, this is actually a gear set which is made by master tailor Amar'khan, and due to his craft being made from good materials, they are more pricey. However, this set is actually best to get until the castle of wilderness opens up, which will be the first instance in this area that players will be able to farm. We decided to put out certain dungeons to be able to repeat, until the component that can erase the dungeon is found and the scenario quest is cleared, although, once it is cleared, another scenario will open up, which will allow the gear flow to continue. Another best thing about that gear set of Amar'khan is that it is actually a bit better than the set we will get from the first instance, yet it doesn't have any level requirement. Only masters in their craft can make such items, or some epic and higher grade items have that feature. Even though this planet's technology is very advanced, no gears are made by machines unlike our reality due to gears crafted by machines can't grant any stats or effects, part of the reason is that a craftsman can craft the nature of the item, while a normal machine will harm the natural energy inside the materials. It's not that with the current technology machines can't really produce good items, but such machines are very delicate, expensive to produce and maintain and thus it is the people who craft items. This also made sure people in the society will get jobs and machines are not there to steal the job from them. Just the machines used in the adventurer's guild to keep all those procedures run and everything actually takes an astronomical amount from the guild's profit, small influences can not afford such price.

Right now, I'm going to the nature worshipper grove, a place where the people here pray to nature. Here everyone worship the nature around us, druids and elves are very respected here due to their closeness to nature. People believe that nature makes a man into a god, power is only there since it comes from nature and the closer you are to nature, the stronger you get, which is true as natural affinity allows you to gain more essence from nature and grow stronger. All the EXP we get from killing and everything are in reality natural energy, but the energy has different type of purity. The higher ones are used in my inner skill, while the lower ones are converted into EXP.

The grove is situated at the southern side of the city, where nature is very hibrent. Most of the elven residents live there. There is also a huge tree at the centre of that district, in olden times the elves used to call it the tree of life and worship it, later it was revealed that it is a type of special plant that got the ability to amplify the potency of the natural essence around it, and now elves worship the nature as a whole. The reason I am going there now is due to a staff I found while doing a quest nearby the forest area by the marshland.

[Staff of Narmina

Quest item

Show this staff to the grove, maybe you will learn something?]

This staff is actually the starting item of a scenario quest, a scenario quest can be very impactful or less, you can't tell that but most of the quest items that lets you start a quest has this kind of description, also they are not bound to you, so you can give them to other people if you do not want to do the quest, except the natives since that won't actually start the quest, rather it will have harmful effects to the related party of the quest. Another thing about these items is that you can't actually seek them out, they might just drop on you by chance, kind of depends on your luck stat. Another part about these quests is that you have to show the item to a native of high enough position and correct mentality, if for example I give this item to a trent or druid of lower status in the grove, they might not recognise it, luckily, myself being from an influential house, I can go to the grove keepers, who are like archbishops of a church, so they can recognise this. Just for the insurance, I went to keeper Lanavi, she's someone who is famed for her kindness and remember anyone she has met before, she also has a very good relationship with my mother. Due to the grove being full of nature my inner skill's passive got activated, later on I'll hang around for more time here and see how much essence I can collect, for now I need to hurry, the world is as close to reality as it can be, so the quest related party might get harmed or die if you don't act fast enough. The structures that works as room in the grove are actually made of roots of the tree, and a magical enchantment is made on the entrance to make sure no one can just go inside. As I knocked on the door, keeper Lanavi came out surprised.

"May nature's blessing aid you little Rosh, why are you here today? Came to pray to nature?"

"I'll pray once I got time aunt, right now I'm here because I found this staff in the forest near Rakh'bal entry point. I found it to be similar to the staff you use and thus brought it here in case you recognise it."

She took the staff from my hands and started to examine it, after a while, she showed a shocked face.

"Little Rosh, come with me."

She took me through the woods and we reached a room that is very big, the person who was inside was actually the head keeper of the grove, she went to show the staff and said some words to him, he checked the staff then said something to her and came to me.

"Little one, I thank you on behalf of the grove for coming in haste to show us the staff, it indeed belongs to us. One of our keepers, Narmina, found some disturbances in the Rakh'bal forest and went to check what it is about four days ago, since then she didn't returned. We sent two more keepers but they didn't come back either. Now that you found this staff alone, it seems something is very wrong in there.

Although I do not like to ask those not from the grove to these kind of tasks, but you know, very few keepers actually stay in the grove, they mostly roam around to keep the natural balance and check for disturbances, but since you are a Shire, can you help us and scout the forest? It will need some time before more keepers can come and we can head towards that place, so please try to find out what is going on there. You don't have to find out everything, and do not put yourself at risk, I can feel you are strong enough to stay in the forest as long as you don't excessively harm the life in there, which I think you would not, after all, you are a Shire."

[Scenario quest activated: Narmina's distress!

By returning her staff to the grove, you have found that keeper Narmina, tasked to investigate the strangeness around the Rakh'bal forest, has gone missing. Fearing something might happen to her, head keeper Barkhan asked you to scout the area for any suspicious activity that might lead them to her while he prepares a team to head in the forest.

Objective: Investigate the forest

Reward: Depends upon contribution

Failure: Permanent harm to the city of B'onsa

Will you accept the quest?]

"All right head keeper, I'll immediately head to the forest, thank you for trusting me."

"Go on child, may nature's blessing aid you in your endeavors."
